Corporate Consolidation 101.

first off, let's get straight what this really is and isn't about.

what is the real end objective, and what is just the means to that end.

regardless of what one thinks about UCLA and USC, getting UCLA and USC to the B10, and their tv market, is not the end goal. it's a means to that end goal.

is there money there, maybe, probably, but we're talking chump change vs the real pot of gold.

the real end goal is eliminating the PAC as a negotiating competitor for tv money.

for those around since the SEC grabbed Mizzou and A&M, the B10 Neb, then UMd and RU, the PAC taking Colorado and going after Texas and OU hard at the time, the goal then wasn't those schools or "expansion", it was always about trying to take out the B12 and ACC as competitors for tv money.

i said so all day every day at the time, and have so since.

taking out the B12 is what the SEC taking Texas and OU was about. OU and Texas were just the means to that end goal.

the term "EXPANSION" was always just corporate spin.

this was always industry CONSOLIDATION. that is where the real money is.

negotiating with Fox and Disney/ESPN/ABC and Comcast/NBC and CBS and Apple and Amazon and Google as close to a pure monopoly/monopsony seller as possible, like the NFL does thanks to their anti trust exemption..

and duopolies generally "cooperate" to do business as a monopoly.

as to Oregon or Washington in the PAC, or UNC, Clemson, Miami, FSU, and all others, who will and won't be targets of the B10 and SEC, remember, this isn't mostly about if those schools would or wouldn't be good additions.

it will be who and how many it takes to achieve the real end goal.

taking out the PAC will be done taking as few schools as it takes to get the job done.

same with taking out the ACC.

CORPORATE CONSOLIDATION is about concentrating money and power in as few hands as possible.

it's not personal. it's just business.

and if/once the powers that be can get it down to a duopoly operating as a monopoly, at that point the duopoly can turn it's attention to consolidation within their ranks, as capitalism never sleeps, and never is content to stand pat.

what the powers will be content with tomorrow, is not what they will be content with the day after tomorrow.

the algorithm doesn't work that way. it has no off switch.

as for any at IU who may not like what i'm saying here.

"and when they came for me".

For all you MAGA RINO haters...

I'm really curious to see where some of you more outspoken RIMO haters are, in advance of the midterms. I posted this in Floor's thread and he (rightfully) pointed out that I should post it elsewhere and not clog up his thread, and I agree...

So let's see if we can get some responses and a better understanding of where some of you are coming from. We know you hate both Cheney and Kinzinger and detest RINOs in general. So I hope you'll participate in my experiment to determine what some of you really want in Republicans running in the midterms...

So here is the scenario... You are an undecided GOP voter and must make your decision for both the AZ Governor's race and the Wyoming Senate race based soley on the two most recent GOP primary debates held in the respective states. I'm linking to an edited highlight video which gives you a flavor of the available candidates, their views on issues you may or may not find important, and a sense of their personalities and public personna. Now if you know additional details about the people involved, or you want to google to see how they feel about an issue you feel is important, then that's your perogative. But I'm really curious to see who some of you would choose if all you had to go on was what you saw in the highlight video? Not just who you'd choose to vote for personally, but who you'd be proud to promote to others...

I personally am only vaguely acquainted with Keri Lake in AZ and Harriet Hageman in WY, in addition to Cheney. So without googling no idea who any of the others are. I know enough about those 3 to know I don't ideologically line up with any of them, but I'd say one of them is remarkably unlike all the others and at least sounds sane. I'm assuming none of you would choose Cheney. But I'm curious to what extent her role in Jan 6 or the fact that she's anti-Trump plays, compared to any policy statements she made in the video.

People Aren’t Stopping For Washington State Police

I had to chuckle at this
"Even more infuriating, these criminals know exactly what they’re doing. Steve Strachan, executive director of the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs, cited a suspect driving on a suspended license who was being pursued by officers in Redmond. The guy called 911 and told the dispatcher they had to call off the chase because of House Bill 1054. He refused to stop, believing the law was on his side."

Serious question for Pro Life folks

Fellow lefties, if you’re not going to contribute to this please just move along.

There is an article in the Star this morning about polling of Hoosiers about what, if any, exceptions to an abortion ban they’d agree with. As is common, rape, incest, and life of the mother are three that pill well. Others, not so much.

My question for you all is how do you or others you know reconcile those positions? Like, it seems contradictory to say that an embryo is a life and all life is precious and should be protected while also being agreeable to those exceptions. Maybe less so for life of the mother, but if they’re both lives, what makes one more valuable than the other?

I’ll hang up and listen.

Sunday Recruit Watching Notes - Peach Jam

Peach Jam begins today with the first few games and will run through the end of the week.

Thehoosier.com will be there later this week.

First game of the day was Team Takeover vs Pro Skills as a play-in game for the tournament portion of Peach Jam.

2023 four-star guard DeShawn Harris-Smith was terrific for Team Takeover. He had 17 points on 4-of-8 from the field and 9-of-11 from the free throw line. Added 11 rebounds and three assists.

He impacted the game at such a high level on both ends of the floor. Has such good length, quickness and feel for the game that he can guard and play multiple wing positions. Very good with the ball in his hands making plays for his team.

Team Takeover won 59-44 after outscoring Pro Skills 22-8 in the fourth quarter.

New Republican Study Destroys Every Claim Of Fraud In 2020

After reviewing every claim of fraud and irregularities brought by Donald Trump and his supporters in all 64 cases challenging the 2020 election, a group of notable conservatives has reached the "unequivocal" conclusion that Trump's claims of election fraud are unsupported by evidence.

The group also examined all post-election reviews and audits in six battleground states. "Donald Trump and his supporters had their day in court and failed to produce substantive evidence to make their case," Lost, Not Stolen: The Conservative Case Trump Lost and Biden Won the 2020 Presidential Election states.

The 72-page report is signed by retired federal appeals court judges Thomas B. Griffith, J. Michael Luttig and Michael W. McConnell, former Solicitor General Theodore B. Olson, Senators John Danforth and Gordon H. Smith, longtime Republican election lawyer Benjamin L. Ginsberg and veteran Republican congressional chief of staff David Hoppe.

"Walking Man" apparently a known homeless guy in Chicago, was set on fire and is likely to die.

WTF. Allegedly someone walked by, poured lighter fluid on him, set him on fire, and left. Miserable way to die. Could have been another homeless guy, whatever, but damn that's evil. There seems to be so much evil in this country at the moment. Going into a school and seeing the faces of little children and blowing them away to the point of them being unrecognizable. One right after another. Of course it's mental; but pure evil too. Murders are at a 30 or 40 year high.

Trivial I know but our leagues here are having a horrible time finding people to ref. Over $20 an hour often times. No one wants to ref because the parents are so out of control. Going onto the field. Just losing their shit over a kids' game, of which there will be a thousand more. They would rather work at Smoothie King than be outside reffing games. Some games parents are required to watch from their cars. You can't even see the fields from the cars

I was curious about religion/faith. As of this year membership/attendance at churches, synagogues, and mosques is 47%. In 2000 it was 70%. It's been at 70% or slightly higher for decades. That's a huge decline. Church was a big part of my life growing up. My kids never go. Ever. Same holds true for my friends' families. Is this lack of faith contributing to our craziness? Is it social media? All of it?

Seems to me that gun legislation (permits/high cap mags at least) is vitally important, particularly in light of how crazy we're becoming, but maybe a lack of faith or fear of something after this life is something we should get back to as well. I don't know. Seems like we are circling the drain
