There is now a "Real-Time Live Chat" feature that we will be using at theHoosier.com. Unlike the threads, this feature is not for 24/7 consumption and is not available to be used as an ongoing thread. This feature is for specific and real-time conversations. Once you are in the "Forums" area, look to the left of your name and you should see a "message" symbol with most likely a green '0' next to it. If you open it you should see an available, but unopened chat - "TheHoosier Live Chat Room," and a "browse" feature next to it that. If clicked on it should be the "Adidas 3SSB Live Chat"

These should add to your gameday and overall site experience. There will always be a staffer onboard to not only engage with those in the discussion, but these will also be civil conversations. If you cannot express yourself in a manner that does not include foul or abusive language, this will not be the place for you. It will not be tolerated in any way.

We plan to use this around, during and after football & basketball games, as well as as for weekly scheduled discussions, with sport specific staffers and guests, as well as former players such as Mitchell Paige, Dylan Powell, Todd Leary, Charlie Miller, etc. Sometimes there might be a set topic and sometimes it will just be an open forum for Q&A's.

We will have scheduled evening discussions for both sports on different days. For football. what is the best evening of the week to talk IUFB? Basketball will be a little tougher in-season because games are 3X more frequently. Once the season starts there might not be a scheduled weekly day because of having up to 3 games per week at times. But please let us know your thoughts of when you would like to have these lIve discussions. It is pretty straightforward, but I am going to leave it open for a bit so you all can go in and familiarize yourself. Please add to the Poll above. Thank you!

He's back!

After resting and self-tanning for several days, Trump held a rally in Doral yesterday. His 75-minute talk featured profuse sweating, slurred speech, incomplete sentences, freeing the Jan 6 "hostages," and rambling (again) about Hannibal Lecter. Some other "highlights":

  • "A waitress came over, beautiful waitress. And I never like talking about physical. She's beautiful inside. Because you never talk about a person's look. Ever. You never mention it. The other day I got very angry. Some man called Chris Christie fat. And I said, "Sir." And then he said he was a pig. I said, "Sir! Chris Christie is not a fat pig!" Please remember he is not a fat pig. Please take it back." (Meanwhile, Trump was wearing a sport coat in stifling heat and humidity, no doubt in an effort to hide his big gut and fat ass).
  • "Mothers will never again be forced to watch their children overdosing and hosp-lee. And we will never again allow mothers to watch their child hopelessly dying in their arms screaming, What can I do. What can I do. Help me God, what can I do? We are a nation whose once revered airports are a dirty, crowded mess." (Quite a pivot there. With respect to our once-"revered" (??) airports, they're definitely crowded this summer but not dirty. In any event, how would he know?)
  • "All these people have water spots! Why don't I have one?!" (No idea).
  • "We don't eat bacon anymore."
  • "Yes, and yes, and quickly, says President Trump." (No clue).
  • "We have nuclear subs and 5 warships in Cuba." (He had just been talking about Russia so presumably he meant to say "Russia" instead of "We." Or did he?)

Should we take a moment to realize how far we've come in such a short amount of time?

There are a ton more after this, but I'm out of time.

An age limit for the office of President...

There's already a minimum age limit for Presidential candidates set at 35, why not have a maximum age limit also??

I propose we set maximum age limit (to be eligible to run) for President at age 68 (the same calendar year that their (1st term) election would be held...; which means an individual would be no older than 76 or 77 at the end of two terms (they could only circumvent the 68 age limit if they had already served 1 term)...

Throw in a Mandatory Cognitive Test, along with a US government and Global Studies Test (whose content would be provided to all candidates immediately upon their decision to run [to allow them time to study for it]...).

The results would be made public 9 months prior to the election..., and we would circumvent most of the type of dangerous nonsense we're now dealing with...
(In my opinion)

I'd also love to see that a minimum of half their proposed cabinet be revealed 9 months prior to their election... The reality is that the individual we vote for is often just a rubber stamp figurehead. I want to know who'll really be running things...

A Biden lie in my email this morning . . .

I got a campaign email from the Dems (I also get them from the GOP) I read before going to work said, Trump has made it clear with his own words that he would “rip away women’s freedoms, punish women, and ban abortion nationwide.” I put quotes around the part I recall world for word.

It stuck with me because, even if Trump said that in the past, that’s not what he’s saying since Dobbs. Now he’s specifically saying he’s leaving it up to the states. So if Alabama wants to ban it completely, he’s good with that. If California says abortion on demand up until birth, for any reason or no reason at all except it’s what the mother wants to do, is allowed, he’s good with that. So Biden is lying, Trump doesn’t want to ban it. Trump is even good with zero abortion restrictions.

Battle for Atlantis should be fun

Hopefully Hoosier nation sends 800-1,000.

I'm predicting the bracket to be setup like this

Providence is replacing Creighton in Battle for Atlantis..

Indiana- Arizona- Davidson-Providence-West Virginia- Louisville-Oklahoma-Gonzaga.

I'd make these the pairings:

Gonzaga vs Davidson
Indiana vs West Virginia (First ever meeting)

Louisville vs Oklahoma
Providence vs Arizona

Trump Trial Soros Progressive Prosecutors

It seems the left believes that Soros is some fiction concocted by right wing media. Lord knows the extreme right suffers from its share of insanity but this dismissing of Soros' group as not impacting cities and society is exceptionally damaging. I have no doubt that anything trump is ever accused of doing wrong he did. I have no doubt the hush money trial he falsified records to dupe voters to help promote his campaign as the statutes set forth. All of that said Soros' support of activist/progressive prosecutors is a danger. And the trial in NY is absolutely political. So whether it's a progressive like Bragg using his position to benefit dems or a progressive in a city refusing to charge criminals of the same race it has a deleterious impact on society and cities and is not the role of prosecutors. Here's a statement from the nonprofit group who is funded by Soros (millions) and who financially backed Bragg.

Statement from Rashad Robinson, President of Color Of Change on Donald Trump’s Indictment

“In this historic moment, Color Of Change applauds New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who refused to let corporate influence, racist right-wing attacks, and threats of violence interfere with holding the former president accountable. This is the kind of political courage we need from every district attorney in the country.

This indictment provides a glimpse into what accountability of the rich and powerful can look like, and the role that progressive prosecutors can play. For weeks, Trump and his enablers in government and media tried to undermine this important legal process with lies and racist dog whistles. They then went a step further launching racist and anti-Semitic attacks aimed at fueling violence and attempted to stop the justice system from moving forward. Yet, this indictment is a step in the right direction toward ensuring that no one should be above the law, no matter how much money, power or access they have.

Color Of Change is proud to support progressive district attorneys like DA Bragg who are committed to reforming the criminal legal system while demanding accountability from the rich and powerful. We will continue to support these leaders, who are enacting sensible reforms, stopping targeted attacks on people of color, holding those in power accountable, and striving to ensure justice for all.”

All of these groups file Form 990s that indicate where they receive funding. to whom they extend funding, salaries etc. Color of Change is late in their filings but their last from 220 indicated the president of hte nonprofit makes $500k a year. Quite a gig and far more money than executive directors at large regional nonprofits.
