Nonbinary babies? Let's have another fight!

Oklahoma's governor signed a bill banning any nonbinary markers for gender on birth certificates. There's not a lot of detail in the articles about it, and I don't know much about it, myself, but here it is:

My immediate response was: "Okay, sounds fine. So what?" After all, no one has a gender identity at birth. We are assigned a gender at birth. Then our parents generally raise us as the gender we were assigned. Any problems arise much later in our development. So I couldn't see any reason to mark a birth certificate as anything other than M or F. But then I started thinking about it some more, and a few theoreticals occurred to me that might make this more of a deal than I thought it was. I'm still mulling it over, but I'm sure quite a few of you here will be capable of forming a strong opinion in a hurry....

So, GO!

(OT) - Interesting Basketball Documentary

Last night, my wife and I finished watching this documentary series. It followed the Maker family, especially Makur and Thon, and their respective journeys through the basketball world. I thought it was interesting to see how many different people, with different agendas, are trying to influence the lives of basketball kids. I've, of course, heard about it for years, but it was interesting to actually see it.

Future success of CTA at IU?

So we managed to land what appears to be a very good recruiting class in spite of our awful 2-10 season. Can CTA withstand another dismal season? My guess is not. I just don't see how he can keep landing solid recruiting classes if we don't have a big turn around in the fall of 2022. A winning record and bowl game plus being competitive on a weekly basis seems like a minimum requirement. The luster of our covid year season is gone and the nobody pays much attention or cares or believes your pitch if you ain't winning ball games.

I sure hope CTA and the team can turn things around in 2022 but I'm not overly optimistic based our implosion last season. Sure we had some injuries but so does every football team and the reality is that we stunk from game 1.

What say the rest of you gluttons for punishment IU football followers.......Can CTA turn things around in 2022?

Heartwarming Baseball Story

I don't watch baseball these days, but this was a pretty cool story with several video clips.

IU Schedule Rated as

10th hardest in the nation

The Big Ten's toughest schedule in 2022, once again, belongs to Indiana according to ESPN's projections. Things get tricky for the Hoosiers beginning in Week 4, the first of three straight games as an underdog. The Hoosiers play Cincinnati away from home, then Nebraska and return home to play Michigan. In November, Tom Allen's squad hosts Penn State before consecutive road showdowns against Ohio State and Michigan State. Considering this schedule, Indiana will need to do all it can to start the season 3-0 against Illinois, Idaho and Western Kentucky to have a shot at bowl season next fall after a disastrous finish in 2021.

Illinois@IU, Game 2: Illini 18 IU 10. Illini's 10-run 6th dooms IU...

I was unaware they moved the start time of this game up and it's a good thing considering the three main parts of the game in hitting, pitching and fielding all failed to show up for the Hoosiers. IU has given up 15 hits to score 16 runs with 13 earned, and as I post this they have just five hits including two hits in 6th, while committing three errors. IU leads the B1G in fewest errors, but counting the two yesterday, they have committed five errors in the first two games of the series.

In the 6th, it was an inning where IU reverted back to their Pony League days and I could use Little League, but Little League players play better than what IU did in this inning. There was just about anything you could think of from a negative standpoint that happened for IU as the Illini plated 10 runs in the inning.

In the B6th, Mathison leads off with a homer to get IU on the board. Tibbetts also singled in the inning but that was it for IU in the 6th.
