Just when you thought Democrats could not become more stupid and irrelevant . . .

They do.

The Attorney General of the United States launched a new Office of Environmental Justice. Included in the statement creating this DOJ effort is:

“Although violations of our environmental laws can happen anywhere, communities of color, indigenous communities, and low-income communities often bear the brunt of the harm caused by environmental crime, pollution, and climate change,” said Attorney General Garland. “For far too long, these communities have faced barriers to accessing the justice they deserve. The Office of Environmental Justice will serve as the central hub for our efforts to advance our comprehensive environmental justice enforcement strategy. We will prioritize the cases that will have the greatest impact on the communities most overburdened by environmental harm.”
Think about this for a moment. We have robust environmental laws. We have robust federal, state, and local enforcement. We even have authorized private enforcement of which various advocacy groups take full advantage, often to a fault. So what exactly is the law enforcement or governmental purpose of this effort? I have no clue. Except to say its more irrelevant BS from an increasingly obvious incompetent administration. Harmful pollution is ubiquitous. Consistent enforcement and remediation protects all of us.

But if Attorney General Garland is convinced about creating another bureaucracy centered on minorities I have a suggestion. How about an Office of Educational Justice. The education we provide black youngsters in this country is a national disgrace. It became worse during the pandemic as democratic-leaning teacher groups kept schools shut down, which we now know was overdone and hurt the education of minority kids the most. But we won't hear a peep about educational justice from Democrats because democrats, particularly inner-city black Democrats, are responsible for our horrible educational inequality.

How about an office of Gun Justice. The body count of black youngsters in the United States is another national disgrace. The dead young black bodies are the result of other black young men, who themselves will probably be dead or in jail soon. The largest cause of death of black young men is homicide. Attorney General Garland, where are you on this?

How about an office of Drug Abuse Justice? Black overdose deaths are rocketing upward and have now passed whites.

This isn't to say a clean environment isn't important. But good grief, a bad environment won't even make the list of things that specifically harm blacks in this country.

The Biden Administration truly is stupid and irrelevant in so many ways.

Something to think about

Dan W of yahoo sports, reported that "Cincinnati (9). Each Bearcat was a Rivals three star or below recruit out of high school." Coaches able to develop players can overcome teams with higher rated talent. Cincy has a schedule that helps them develop players without crushing them with top teams. How much does IU's schedule work against them. I hope IU's current coaches develop players better than the coaches that left and I hope IU brings in an OL coach that can develop players to create strong OLs.

There is hope for IU to move up in the B1G if our assistant coaches can develop talent as well as Cincy has done recently.

Transfers - List of new Schools

With all of the transfers recently, is there a consolidated list from the last couple of years on where guys that Transferred from IU ended up? I know I have seen some of the locations (S. Bama, Liberty, PU) but saw the list of the 4 IU Bball players and wondered about all the Football transfers.

I think for the most part, many end up at lower tier schools, but thought it would be interesting to see a running list from the last 2-4 years, since transfers have been increasing.

Gas grilling suggestions

i'm not a big foodie like some on here, but I do enjoy sitting out in the driveway on a nice night and grilling. I have a Green Egg knockoff called a Kamado Joe, but on a lark recently bought a 3 burner Weber propane that is in great shape and only $120 (probably a $600-700 grill). Cooked on it twice and both times got the outside done, but they were a bit too pink and underdone inside (strip steaks and a turkey breast). I'll keep playing with it and will break out my temp probes, but wondering if some of you expert grillers might have some tips?

Esper on 60 Minutes...

I didn't watch the broadcast itself, so I don't know if this clip represents the entire segment. I will say that when he described himself as a "lifelong Republican" and with his background as a West Point grad with a 10 yr active duty career followed by decades as a policy wonk, I imagine he has much in common (philosophically) with someone like our own Aloha. Aside from the fact that they root for opposing sides in the Army/Navy game, of course...

My Dad was a Marine DI at Pearl during WW2. But I spent 6 1/2 yrs in Germany working in an MOS library and teaching BSEP and High School completion courses to enlisted personnel, and had lots of friends who were officers and NCOs. And the one thing they all had in common is that they were Army. So my own loyalties in that regard are split, since I never knew any of my Dad's Marine/Navy buddies...
