"We made our own immigrants."

Mama Goat was discussing the Dobbs decision tonight and we were talking about how America has this weird relationship with labor, in that we need people to do shit jobs, but we don't want to let them into the country, and she described the long term economic effects of overturning Roe better than I've heard. She said that we finally found a way to not need the immigrants anymore, because eventually all these unwanted children will come online and start doing those jobs that we otherwise would have needed immigrants to do.

Obviously, the labor market is more complicated than that, but I think she probably nailed the basic jist of it.

Leaders and Legends

From the get-go this divisional conference alignment was one of the dumbest f****** ideas that the Hoosiers have ever signed up for. I'll reserve the dumbest f****** idea for the "Ban The Blue" marketing plan where you could get in to see Indiana play Michigan for $1 if you brought a can of soup with you.

When they finally dismantle this stupid divisional order, everybody is going to run away from it and say that "I wasn't in favor of this!"

This will be the best thing that ever happened to Indiana football since the Hoosiers went to the Rose Bowl, or maybe when Bill Mallory was hired. Or maybe Hep

I give zero credit to Fred Glass for the Big Ten Network contract and all of the funds that became available to improve facilities, although apparently that did not include bathrooms at the football stadium.

Coach Tom Allen - I have to admit I'm getting a little nervous but I still am hoping you can pull a rabbit out of your hat this year.

Join My Customer Revolution! Make America Competent Again!

Effective NOW, my motto is “you either provide customer service or you don’t”

When some business tells me a sob story about why they suck at delivering the goods or service their business was created to provide, I’m telling them “I am sorry - I don’t mean to be rude, but I don’t care - you either provide customer service or you don’t - it is not my job to solve your s supply or personnel problems - I’’ll take my business elsewhere - good luck.”

I’m done enabling incompetence, laziness, excuses, and explanations. My clients hired/fired me based on service and results.

Make America Competent Again!

Some businesses are born to fail. Let it be. Make room for the workers and problem solvers.

Interesting science discovery in Florida

According to the conservancy, this Burmese python broke the invasive species record for the largest ever caught in Florida. The nearly 18-foot python weighed in at a whopping 215 pounds, about the size of a shipping container and shattering the 2016 record of 140 pounds. And that's not the only record for Sunshine State snakes: This female python was also pregnant and was carrying 122 eggs.

....

"We don't really consider pythons big until they top 100 pounds, so now I need a new description for a 200-pound python," Bartoszek said. "It's just next level for us."
...

"The last meal this animal had was a white-tailed deer," Bartoszek said, noting that most pythons are big-game hunters.

Here's a proposal in regard to age and firearm ownership

Move the legal age of both firearm ownership and the legal age to vote to 21..., and add the passing of a basic US civics test to gain lifetime voting privileges..., And add a law that requires both passing both a hands on instruction and a written firearms safety test to be able to first time buy firearms (for All first time buyers) ... while retaining the current "FBI background check system [and actually have them do their damn job in enforcing it]...

I mean if these 18 year olds (their brains aren't fully formed argument) can't be trusted with a firearm (and evidently a few of them can't be) then how can we trust them to vote?

Seems a reasonable approach to me...

I'd also add: If you are ever convicted of a Felony you lose your right to both ever again legally own a firearm or legally vote...

Inflation coming back to Earth?

JP Morgan seems to think so. US poised to cut inflation in 1/2 the 2nd half of 2022. Maybe it does?

Great news for America. Bad news for the GOP?

June Live Evaluation Period Notes - Second Weekend

This weekend is the another live period in June and that means coaches will be out on the road.

I would expect Mike Woodson to be at the NEPSAC live session for 2023 four-star forward TJ Power.

The DMV live session at Dematha is back and I would expect Indiana to be back there like last weekend for 2023 four-star wing Jamie Kaiser and 2024 wing Khani Rooths among some others.

The NHSBCA live session in Georgia is another event that Indiana should be making an appearance at.

The big event in the midwest/Indiana is the Charlie Hughes Shootout at Carmel/Westfield. TheHoosier.com is told multiple Indiana staff will be there as well.

TheHoosier.com will be at a few different events this weekend.

We will be posting updates here all weekend.
