NIL- It is time to put your money where your mouth is.

NIL creates a big disadvantage to programs like IU that have not traditionally had a lot of financial support for its football program. As much as it is a nightmare for IU football, it is the reality today.

A lot of people on this board say Dolson needs to do this or Allen needs to do that. I think the people on this board are some of the most dedicated IU football fans that exist. We all want to see IU football succeed. Now you can be part of the solution.

Between now and December 31, we have the opportunity to have an impact on the success of the football program next year.

The reason the donor of the matching grant gave such a short timeframe was that the donor wanted the money to come in fast enough to make a difference next year.

One thing Dolson is good at is raising money. He is going after the big fish, which may include some of you. The rest of us need to step up with whatever we are comfortable giving in the next 6 weeks.

There are two funds that you can use. Hoosiers for Good and Hoosier Connect. Hoosiers for Good is a 501 (C ) (3) charity, so your contribution may be tax deductible. (I am not giving tax advice here). Hoosier Connect may create tax deductions and benefits for your business.

You can abandon college sports, you can complain about the state of IU football, but you can also make a difference.

IU will stay within the rules, but it needs the money to keep good players which are being poached and to land recruits and transfers.

I don't like it, you probably don't like it, but that is the reality. Do what you can before 12/31/22.

trolls got the mods to lock the tread on this article.

article and subject are far too important for the mods to be so manipulated, so i'll reintroduce both.

Bill Walton,

"I don't believe that joining the Big 10 is in the best interest of UCLA, its students, its athletes, its alumni, its fans, the rest of the UC system, the State of California, or the world at large."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

this statement needs to be emphasized, because it is absolutely true.

while a small handful of coaches and administrators with power may financially make out great from the move, "UCLA, it's students, it's alumni, it's fans, the rest of the UC system, the State of California, or the world at large", are all huge losers.

as are all the other PAC schools including USC, their students, their fans, their alumni, and their states, all huge losers.

for every individual who gains mightily, there are a million losers.

the fans, the alums, the students, the faculty, the schools themselves, gain little to nothing from a handful of coaches and administrators having millions more to divvy up between themselves, or more unneeded Taj Mahal brick and mortar opulence in the keeping up with the Jones' endless game of leap frog.

the grown ups, if there are any left at the schools and states, need to step up.

that said, is there anyone with power left at our nations' major state universities, and even major private universities, with the ability to rule in the best interests of the schools themselves, their fans, their students, their alums, their faculty, over the mighty dollar, regardless of of how few that dollar actually reaches, or whose pockets it really comes out of?

or is the dollar itself making all the decisions, and damn everything else that gets in it's way.

i say that not in jest.

is there anyone in power left at our major state schools, with the ability to rule in the short and long best interests of the many, over the most profitable in the short run???

does the prez or AD at any major school have the ability to say NO to more money, no matter how it's allocated, no matter the downsides?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and on that note, though of far less importance, does anyone at IU have the power to say NO to one more, then one more, then one more, LED or print advertising billboard in Assembly Hall?

or one more occupied courtside folding chair blocking everyone else's view?

or one more commercial on the big screen?

i ask in all earnest, does ANYONE at IU have the power to say no mas anymore??

ANYONE????????

or is the job of AD and university prez and trustee now confined to one, and only one, mi$$ion?? (and the hell with everything and everybody else)?

and spare me any "keep the lights on" BS.

this isn't about paying the bills.

it's about MORE", and only "MORE", with no off switch.

KU & Duke 3pt Shooting

Abysmal.

Both teams combined to go 6/40 from 3 in the game last night.

What's it say about cbb that two of the best paid rosters currently, and for the past 30+ years can't throw it in the ocean from deep?

I'm all for bombing away from 3 if you"ve got the shooters to do so, but disagree with the notion a team like IU needs to vastly increase 3pt volume to keep up with the idea of "modern basketball."

A case for jungle primaries

The Democrats were 16-0 going against Republicans that Democrats helped win in the primary. And some Democrats, like the author of the Slate article below, are celebrating. I hate the idea of interfering with primaries. But under most current systems, there isn't a way to prevent it. So jungle primaries are needed.

All candidates appear and the top 2, and only the top 2, advance to the general. Now Democrats could vote for Mastriano to have him be one of the two, but they then risk that their chosen candidate isn't the other one. I am not sure how to get this to work for the Presidency without a national primary (which I whole-heartedly support), but there has to be a way.

We should be voting for who will lead the country the best, not voting for the worst possible choice. The incentive must be changed to do away with that.

Batten down the hatches gang

My prediction: pain!! Where are the winning power ball numbers?!!! WTF is going on? No more mail in voting. Enough is enough. We may not know for days. Lawsuits in PA. This is all bullshit and stupid. Vote in person. Two national holidays. Bring your Id. Designate voting stations based on community population and distance so it’s fair. 7 am to 7 pm two straight days. All votes counted by third day.

Izzo

I know it's early in the season, but I'd like to suggest Tom Izzo as the heir apparent to replace Mike Krzyzewski in the following category:

Asshole who has fooled almost everyone into thinking that he's really a good guy.

Seriously, Izzo is angrily flapping around on the sidelines and complaining wildly about calls, non-calls, long distance calls, bingo calls, poker calls, and everything else but then a young woman with a microphone and a smile walks up and asks him a couple cupcake questions and suddenly he becomes all peaches and cream nice guy. Fake.

Izzo is acting so ugly that he is almost making Calipari look good. That's some real talent, right there. Izzo has to be one of the national leaders in this category.

"The Russian Army has Bombed Poland"

-AP Headline, citing 'anonymous US Senior Intel officer.

-Zsky immediately blamed Russia, later going so far as to characterize the alleged attack as a message from Putin to the G20 Summit.

-it was a UKR AD fail.

The UKR actually attacked Poland.

....Senior US Intel Officer...
Perhaps The Bild will answer that question..and why a US high ranking Intel officer would advance this lie?

Couple good games tonight for those interested

Duke vs Kansas
Kentucky vs Mich St

Texas vs Gonzaga tomorrow night.

IU jumps 1 spot in AP ratings to #12. Mich and ILL also in top 20, and most of the rest of B1G getting some votes at the moment (MSU 26th with good showing vs Zaga, Purdue 27th). Xavier also getting votes, 31st. Future IU opponent Arizona jumps to 14th.
