The Weather up at Northwestern

No major predictions this time... I'll provide some resources and you reach your own conclusions... (I will add mine at the bottom [just can't help myself 😉😎]...).

From about 3 miles offshore out in Lake Michigan (1st box upper left):

From the Northwestern Sailing Center:

Accu Weather:

National Weather Service:

Hourly Box (NWS):

As everyone is aware, the key factor up there will be the wind... I'm guessing the best indicator of the types of wind(s) they'll be experiencing at the stadium will be a combination of the first two site real time observations (average wind speed, gusts and direction of) from above...

Looks like a typical late afternoon on Lake Michigan... If you're there "live on site" you'd best bring your hat, UV rated sunglasses, and sunscreen, as it appears many of you will be seated directly across from the water ( that reflected sunlight can cook your retinas and your skin)...

Here's hoping the wind stays below 20 mph most of the game..., and that Cig has a Grad Asst. monitoring those two Weather sites at the top before we attempt a FG...

The key may be the wind direction (which can move around on you at times out on the lake), rather than the wind speed... If it's from the SSE as predicted it might be blocked a little at field level by the bleachers; if it moves around to coming in from a Northerly direction it might cause a lot more problems...

I'm guessing that as long as we don't end up throwing a pass or attempting a FG exactly when the wind gusts to above 25 we probably won't have any major issues...

Field-wise I'm just glad we're not playing on that Elephant Grass (height exaggeration) old field that (seemingly) had a foot high crown running down the center of it... I've watched more than one player (from several different schools) be taken down by it [seemingly tripping over their own feet]... That's one half of their Home Field Advantage that's gone...

Here's to a Great Day and a Great Game! 😎🍺🍺💨☁️☀️

Can we all agree

Our G-5 all-star team is pretty damn good and can play with just about anyone in the league?

We're gonna go to a bowl game and have a shot at 9, maybe 10 wins.

Nobody thought we were gonna look as good as we do. If they would have said we win 6 and go to a bowl at the beginning of the year, there isn't a person on this board that wouldn't have taken that.

Lets enjoy this season. It's turning out to be a good one.

Where is Your Outrage You Hypocrite Bastages?

Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans on August 29. By 9/2 (“Heckuva Job” Day) Shepherd Smith was on the interstate demanding aid, political sycophants were demanding a magic wand fix of all blocked roads and all electric wires and all shelves re-stocked - but no blame for the failure of Louisiana or city officials (the only ones empowered to do so) to implement a mandatory evacuation. Nope. All Bush’s fault.

The rain started last Wednesday. By Friday morning, flash floods had already started. Cities are gone. Where is the help?

Asheville’s Mayor said an hour ago “ we needed it very quickly. We can’t wait any longer. Our resident have been without food and water now for five days.”

Well, Biden is saying the same thing Bush said - “ I don’t want to go and get in the way of the relief efforts.“

So where is the outrage?

Some of the dead and missing in Carolina are black. Where are the claims that Biden hates black people?

Bush sent 7,200 federal troops. How about Biden send in some? Oh, wait. There are 30 “high water” vehicles staged at …. Wait fer it … Fort Campbell, Kentucky!

The politics of personal destruction, the Borking of all honorable people, and the hypocrisy, has produced our next election where we get to pick between Trump and Harris (after the Democratic Party “democratically“ prevented Bernie and Biden from running). Thanks hypocrites.

Y’all sux.

I had a sit-down w my 79 year old mother and told her it's high time she start watching my kids for free.

This JD Vance has a fresh sound.

My parents live on a fixed income, have physical problems and have already raised their kids...but that's no excuse when child care costs are out of control!

Why should they get to enjoy their well earned retirement while I have to take care of these children I brought into the world?

Vance also has a fresh idea on inflation: make your parents pay for all your shit, that way you personally avoid inflation.

Easy peasy 1 2 3sy.

Yet it was no comparison to Trump's child care prose performed to an auditorium of economists. I'm sure they came away impressed. "Child care is child care" was brilliant. Nothing like busting out the associative property of equality. A most certainly equals A. I give Trump some credit for even acknowledging that much.

Trump went on about tariffs, that old intellectual conservative calling card. Conservatives and their tariffs, again...pfft!

Ever think what a 60% tariff on China would do? I mean, did any family farms survive Trump's last round wo the help of billions in welfare? Way to make farmers feel worthwhile, Trump. Pay them while you destroy their markets. smh at any farmer voting for this moron.

And a flat 10% on every other country's export? My god. His answer to reducing child care costs is literally "by doubling the price of everything else!"

“People today are asking for harsh sentences. I feel bad for them. God doesn’t like messing with his kids. I’m a child of God.”

- Tina Peters before getting her 9 years in prison handed down to her.

lol

She thought she'd get probation. lol

I love the 6 year old intellect. That'll work great in prison. For 9 years. Until she 78 lol.

Idiot. But, leave it to her to threaten divine retribution!

After letting others break into her county's voting machines, no less....

Northwestern observations

*//Just a preliminary sampling of pregame articles out there... I'll try to add more up to date and insightful ones as I find them...//*

Have you heard of the TheoBros?

I hadn't, so this was certainly an eye opener... We throw around terms like Christian Nationalist with a vague idea of what some of these folks believe in and advcate for. I'm sure we have a few on this board- you can read the posts...

So hearing them advocate for things like repealing the 19th Amendment and replacing the Constituion with the Ten Commandments may seem like the rantings of a lunatic minority. But combine the interwoven ties to Project 2025, the fact that Peter Thiel is a main mover and shaker, and JD Vance is Thiel's guy and you can start to see how all of this has relevance for 2024 and beyond.

It seems like it's ultra, ultra MAGA and when you dig deep you can start to see why certain groups worked hard to promote Vance as Trump's running mate. And while Vance will work hard to transform his image and keep these links as hidden as possible, it's not as if he can disavow his connections to Thiel, who after all convinced him to run for the Senate and basically financed his campaign...

I knew some of this but had no idea how intertwined these various actors actually are. So on the oft chance that some others are in the same boat and are currently as ignorant on the subject as I was myself, here is the tip of the iceberg...

Could Helene be the difference?

Just spitballing here, but it seems to me that Helene is going to impact voter turnout in a lot of areas of FL, GA, and NC, and those areas will be predominately red/Pub leaning. With GA and NC being so close (and even FL being narrower than expected), would that be enough to put those states in the Dem column? Could that be the difference between a President Harris or a second Trump administration?
