Anyone following what is happening with GameStop stock? Absolutely insane

Basically, analysts set a $13 target price, and it was trading in the $17-$19 range until Jan. 12. Apparently people in a Reddit group noticed a lot of shorts and decided to do something about it (although some of them started in August when the stock was at ~$5). They started buying and right now the stock is at $343 (it's up 130% today alone). The shorts have been taken to the cleaners, including some large hedge funds, and regulators are up in arms over what, if anything, can be done. Meanwhile, the Redditors have been buying call options and some have made millions. Of course it will all come back to earth at some point, but Wall Street is pissed.

And the Redditors are not done. They've turned some of their attention to AMC (up 255% today). Heard others mentioned, including Blackberry and the company liquidating Blockbuster (BLIAQ is up 3500% for the year - that is not a typo).

As if public confidance in SCOTUS wasn't already cratering...

This is not going to sit well with anyone who believes in seperation of Church and State...

I looked to make sure there wasn't a thread on this already, because it's everywhere on mainstream media...

Rather than post any of the videos that provide political commentary, I'm just going to post the various audio comments so people can judge for themselves...

Three things stand out to me...

First of all Lauren Windsor essentially recorded a similar undercover tape of Alito before. So I'm kind of surprised he fell for it again. The earlier conversation is on this tape as well. He seems a lot more moderate on the recording she made in the wake of Dobbs. Although it strikes me as disengenuous when he discusses the Dobbs leaker, since a lot of people feel the leaker was him or one of his clerks...

Secondly I'm struck by what he says and the fact that he would make these comments to a virtual stranger at some sort of public function. Like I said I think people who value a seperation of Church/State are going to be bothered by what he says. It seems he's decided to "let his freak flag fly"... In more ways than one...

And thirdly the most (pleasantly) surprising thing to me is the contrast between what Alito says and what we hear Roberts say. IMHO, this is how you should respond to the questions posed and issues raised. Whether you feel the person asking the questions is a kindred spirit or not...

Hard to believe they were both nominated by the same POTUS. They almost seem diametrically opposed on how they view society. And apparently disagree on their role as members of the highest court in the land...

Don Fischer Talks I.U. Football and Basketball . . .

Indiana Sports Network - Friday, June 7, 2024. The interview begins around the 13:28 mark:

I really hate humanity sometimes.

This story has ruined my day. Don’t scroll down if you don’t want yours ruined.

Mother sentenced to life in prison after leaving baby alone for 10 days in a pack and play while she went on vacation with a guy friend.

This story literally brought tears to my eyes. To imagine what that child went through.

Sad story from Indiana today

So terrible.

The school district’s superintendent, Dr. Harold Olin, denied any bullying reports had ever been submitted by either the parents or the boy.

if Harold is found to be lying, he should be hanged in public.

Blue suffers another 9-0 shutout

On the heels of deep blue Colorado getting stuffed 9-0 in the Trump ballot case, deep blue New York gets shut out 9-0 in the NRA free speech case. (New York? What a shocker).

Essentially the New York financial regulators tried to coerce financial institutions into blackballing the NRA because New York doesn’t approve of the NRA message. New York lost 9-0

Two important take aways. First, Indirect government coercion is the same as direct suppression. Second, institutional viewpoint discrimination is particularly harmful to democracy.

The ACU, was on the NRA’s side. This is why I used to be a member.

Any experience with Audis?

I came home from vacation and suddenly my 2015 car with almost 100,000 on it was lit up like a Christmas tree. Not worth putting a ton of money in it. I like midsize and need a convertible. 😎 Input? Also thoughts on working with Carvana? I’m lazy and hate with a passion negotiating. My dad worked at GM and always got the discount so don’t have experience with much else.

Kentucky 89 at Indiana 92 - Final From Gainbridge Fieldhouse . . .

In the boys game…the Indiana All-Stars let a big lead slip-away but managed to hang on to beat the Kentucky All-Stars 92-89.

The difference for the Hoosier squad from last night…Mr.Basketball Kokomo’s Flory Bidunga had a big night with a double-double scoring 31 points with 15 rebounds…and he didn’t foul out.

Bidunga had lots of help…Brownstown Central’s Jack Benter had 16 points and 5 rebounds, Ben Davis’ K.J. Windham had 13 points, Franklin’s Michah Davis chipped in with 11 points, Brebeuf Jesuit’s Evan Haywood had 10 points and 5 rebounds and Fishers’ Keenan Garner had 9 points and 11 rebounds.
