Couple of funny thoughts

I had today regarding this board:
1. Almost everyone on this board used to loathe Cal and Kentucky bc of 1 and dones. Stating they would t want IU to recruit that way- never getting know players etc. now, most of those folks are fine w IU using the portal rent players. Kind of ironic

2. The myth lives about new coaches a new players needing time. Scheyer, Pope, Cig, Cal, all doing it quickly while IU limps around. And cig did I in football!

Just made me chuckle a little.

Friday Funnies

Police are warning all men who frequent clubs, parties and local pubs to be alert and stay cautious when offered a drink from any woman. Many females use a date rape drug on the market called "Beer."

The drug is found in liquid form and is available anywhere. It comes in bottles, cans, or from taps and in large "kegs". Beer is used by female sexual predators at parties and bars to persuade their male victims to go home and sleep with them. A woman needs only to get a guy to consume a few units of Beer and then simply ask him home for no strings attached sex.

Men are rendered helpless against this approach. After several beers, men will often succumb to the desires to sleep with women whom they would never normally be attracted. After drinking beer, men often awaken with only hazy memories of exactly what happened to them the night before, often with just a vague feeling that "something bad" occurred.

At other times these unfortunate men are swindled out of their life's savings, in a familiar scam known as "a relationship." In extreme cases,
the female may even be shrewd enough to entrap the unsuspecting male into a longer term form of servitude and punishment referred to as "marriage." Men are much more susceptible to this scam after beer is administered and sex is offered by the predatory females.

Please! Forward this warning to every male you know. If you fall victim to this "Beer" scam and the women administering it, there are male support
groups where you can discuss the details of your shocking encounter with similarly victimized men. For the support group nearest you, just look up
"Golf Courses" in the phone book.

Playoff positions: Does it seem crazy to you? top 12, top 4 or even 5-8?

IMO: There is no rational thinking regarding the playoffs:
1. A 13th ranked conference champion could theoretically be given a top 4 BYE
2. A 5th ranked, one loss, non-conference champion, could end up with a 9-12 position and not a home game during first round. Or even miss the playoffs.

Solutions:
1. Poorly ranked conference champions receive automatic bid, but not 1-4, not even 5-8!
2. While maintaining an automatic bid for major conference champions, determine the top spots on merit.

Chicago Bears/NFL fans? What should they do?

Lifelong Bears fan here.

Trade Fields and draft Williams or Maye?

Keep Fields and draft Harrison Jr?

Keep Fields and trade top pick?

I think they're close to being a good to really good football team. And I think Fields can lead a playoff/Superbowl level team, if he has the right team and right approach around him. So I'd keep Fields if I were Poles. I think Poles deserves more time, by the way. He did a great job with last year's number 1 pick decision. And I think has built this team fairly well around Fields, to this point. Eberflus? Ehh, not sure on him. They've blown a number of leads late in games. I wouldn't be suprised if Poles stays, and Eberflus goes.

I think what they do with the number 1 pick then, depends on how the draft order ends up shaking out.

Marvin Harrison Jr is a can't miss elite WR. So a case could be made to draft him at 1. But I wouldn't do that. Fields is likely never going to be a guy that effectively spreads the ball around evenly to all receivers. They have an elite receiver already. And Mooney is a decent supporting receiver. I'm not sure you'd get the value out of both Moore and Harrison, with Fields as the QB. And I'm not sure they should push to play that way with Fields.

Assuming both the 2nd and 3rd picks are teams that will be needing QBs. Giants, Commanders, Patriots, Titans...maybe even the Cardinals. THEN, I think you smoke screen like they did last year by fully evaluating Williams and Maye. And then right before the draft, similar to last year, you trade the pick to the team picking 3rd (assuming the haul back is huge). Recent NFL exec polls indicate they'd get back at least what they got for last year's top pick, even if it were a trade with a fellow top 5 pick team...which is unheard of.

THEN...I'd seek out any teams that might be clamoring for Harrison Jr...Chargers and Jets are great candidates here I would think...and I'd trade that pick again...

If you could come out of it with the 7th or 8th pick, the 10th ish pick, AND some more future first and second rounders...I think that'd be a huge win. Use those early first round picks on best available OL, DL, secondary guys.

Or...Draft Williams and Trade Fields. Use the cap space to give Williams as good an offensive line as possible, and hopefully find him a couple good veteran receivers.

Thoughts? And apologies no pictures of any chicks in Bears apparel...
