Damn, this is a ringing endorsement for Beard from a pretty good source.

Funny coming from someone who has openly admitted to “bringing my sorority girls out in bikinis in front of recruits”. It’s okay to to promote sexual exploitation of girls for recruits I guess. Go take your self righteous ass elsewhere.
Lmao. That’s not what I said. Your memory isn’t too great and you’re definitely reaching. It must be a weird feeling to make excuses for beating women. Wonder how many chances you’d give someone who beat up your wife or daughter?

Simply put. How do we eff this up?

Jim Coyle has put out there 40 percent of the fan base is wanting Beard that's almost half so if Indiana hired McCollum the fan base would be pissed we hired another Archie. This is not football where you can take a chance since its Indiana football this has to be a great hire or shit will hit the fan quickly.
40% of the fan base that is on this forum. I kind of have my doubts that this forum is a good example of a microcosm of Hoosiers fans.

What to make of Bob Amsterdam?

Well, he addresses that tenous link.

"Well, let's be clear. It's the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. We are not part of the roc. We are. We share only a canonical link. Our church denounced the Invasion. Our church separated itself administratively 30 years ago, and every Ukrainian that's Orthodox has been baptized in our church. Five years ago, a new church was established in Ukraine by the Poroshenko administration with the active connivance of the United States government. The State Department of the United States was involved in the establishment of the church. I believe either USAID or some other organizations have funded this state church called the ocu. This is a basically kind of a CIA operation, if you will, to set up a church that would be completely free of what they viewed as the dangerous Putin influence. So you have our State Department violating our constitution, openly engaging in the destruction of religious freedom in a foreign country, doing things absolutely illegal under our constitution."

So, I wonder, what's his angle? Is he just opposed to the suppression of religion? Or is there more to it?
Yeah, he's a loon if that's his angle. The OCU isn't a CIA operation. The church had major fault lines after the first Russian invasion, and these two churches existing side by side was the result of that.

He can argue that the link is "tenuous" or "only" canonical (whatever that means), but the fact is, the UOC exists solely because some members of the church rejected independence from the Moscow patriarch. That's just reality, whether he wants to admit it or not.

Edit to add: to be clear, that doesn't mean the OCU reports directly to the ROC. Both sides disagree on just how strong the relationship is between the two, and it's quite possible that the Ukrainian government is very much in the wrong on this issue. But it's definitely a red flag that he's throwing up this CIA nonsense to deflect away from the reality of the situation.

Kevin Sampson

I’m watching the Houston vs Iowa State game and I know Iowa State has 2 of their best players out today. But just listening to the TV announcers and the praise they’re putting on Kevin Sampson on how you turned around Houston the last seven years were they been in the Suite 16 or final four I just think he was at INDIANA until we fired him over a phone call that now is legal to call. What coda should’ve been he had us at #5 in the country at the time of his firing and we went with who Docige, then Archie now Wooden. What could have Been ??

What will we do about the looming retirement crisis?

That's a whole lotta words to say little more than "taxes are bad." SS has a revenue problem. Big picture wise, lifting the cap and taxing benefits as regular income is the simplest and most equitable fix, one that will be barely felt even by those effected, and one that could be implemented with the least political cost.

That's the band-aid approach- raise taxes - the solution from dems for every issue. At least you stayed away from the nauseating "tax the billionaires to get them to pay their fair share."

We need a real long term solution. One that involves ownership and use of the stock markets.
