Anyone expecting you to be anything but an asshole is in for a disappointment.I thought IU had a huge NIL budget to get the best transfers? Or maybe recruits don’t want to commit to a team with no players and an unproven head coach.
Anyone expecting a big year one turnaround is in for disappointment. This program has been mismanaged to the point of near death.
It could be the same thing. One just in a criminal context. The other in an employment context. For example, a person could be charged with sexual assault and be fired for violating workplace sexual harassment rules. Two separate things makes sense albeit a bit coincidental. And it seems strange for IU to fire him for not listing co-authors without a hearing. Which gets back to the FBI telling IU why they were investigating which seems strange. The man is a cyber expert, it seems given 2 weeks he could destroy a lot of evidence against himself.
A couple of stories said his residency status is unknown, citizen or green card holder. That opens other possibilities. But if this is just a technical violation, moving without reporting it for example, this seems like very high profile overkill. I know there are reports of graduate students around the country being caught up in that, not reporting every move as a foreign national on a visa.
Jonathan Powell - I had hopes we'd get him. Promising player from what few highlights I watched.
I don't know this as fact, but....
How it was handled, how she was supported, what internal reactions were...all things I have no idea about.
- Fear of God had a connection to vocal anti-semite Kanye West. Not a current connection, I don't think, but in the past few years.
- Yarden or someone representing Yarden, raised the issue with the department
- The department abruptly cancels wearing the uniforms (I think the women did wear them once but the men didn't at all)
- This pissed off one or more MBB players (allegedly) who are a religion that doesn't want anything to do with Jews/Israel. Said player(s) reached out to Yarden with negative messages.
Not getting Conwell was a miss for IU. I’m not in panic mode yet, but we don’t need to justify missing on him with this bag chaser BS. He’s a 16 ppg scorer, shoots over 40% from 3, and can get his own shot. He earned a bag. And we knew he wanted a bag when we brought him on campus for a visit. He left without committing and visited Louisville and committed to them the next day. We missed. Devries doesn’t get a pass because he’s new.

At this point in time the GOP senate would not be able to overcome a filibuster from the Democrats. The 60 votes aren’t thereThe constitution doesn't say much about a court's power except the following:
Article 3, section 1 provides: "[t]he judicial Power of the United States, shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish."
Article 3, section 2 provides:
"[t]he judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States, and Treaties made, or which shall be made, under their Authority;--to all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls;--to all Cases of admiralty and maritime Jurisdiction;--to Controversies to which the United States shall be a Party;--to Controversies between two or more States;--between a State and Citizens of another State;--between Citizens of different States;--between Citizens of the same State claiming Lands under Grants of different States, and between a State, or the Citizens thereof, and foreign States, Citizens or Subjects."
In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make.
The Trial of all Crimes, except in Cases of Impeachment; shall be by Jury; and such Trial shall be held in the State where the said Crimes shall have been committed; but when not committed within any State, the Trial shall be at such Place or Places as the Congress may by Law have directed."
Article 3 relates to treason that isn't overly relevant to the issue at hand.
Article 3, Section 2 is the jurisdictional and empowerment section. You will note, that there is no real limit or description of what the courts are permitted to do (subject to the jurisdictional threshold questions, etc. There's no grant by the constitution that actually says judges have lifetime tenure either. There is no authorization in the constitution for creating a federal common law; rules of evidence, etc. These things exist today for good reason.
Nationwide injunctions are not explicitly authorized or prohibited. Much like rules of evidence, etc. Congress can change that.
Little different scenario wouldn’t you say?Strictly by what you state you wouldn’t welcome Tucker DeVries to IU.![]()
Strictly by what you state you wouldn’t welcome Tucker DeVries to IU.I’m not a fan of a guy that been to 2-3 schools. Conwell will be at his 4th school. Get some less known guys and build a roster. Don’t over pay for 1 year money chasers
Louisville clearly did a good job vetting Kelsey and believing he could be successful at the P5 level.
I remember a very drunk Lee Marvin falling out of a stagecoach but little else.Who is ballou?
I agree with your concerns that should be part of the coaches decision process.I’m not a fan of a guy that been to 2-3 schools. Conwell will be at his 4th school. Get some less known guys and build a roster. Don’t over pay for 1 year money chasers

Thanks for the update. My guess is either industrial or state sponsored espionage.

We agree that there is considerable poor value among high NIL players. We differ in that I believe there may be a good value among high NIL players and I expect a good coach with good scouting to be able to discern good value from poor value no matter a players position on the NIL scale. Sometimes their reputation is deserved and sometimes not.
I don’t see the point but Uzan, Kelly, and Martin are first year.9 of the 20 starters in the final 4 were 4 stars are higher. Duke has 4 of the 9.
Also those portal guys you listed are multi year guys for those programs.
Could be two entirely separate things too.It appears IU received an anonymous report of "research misconduct", which appears to be leaving co-authors off of a grant proposal.
That doesn't seem to align well with an FBI investigation, his wife being fired, and an immediate termination. On the other hand, why would someone report him for a fairly minor research violation in the middle of a major criminal investigation? Would the FBI tell people at IU what they are looking into weeks in advance of the raid carried out at his home? That does not seem like operational security. Yet IU began removing him a couple of weeks before. If he was a notorious criminal, would that not give him plenty of time to destroy evidence?

Fired prof accused of research misconduct, FBI involvement unclear
Professor Alex Tanford, president of the American Association of University Professors Bloomington chapter, got access to communications between Wang and IU administrators.indianapublicmedia.org
9 of the 20 starters in the final 4 were 4 stars are higher. Duke has 4 of the 9.For some reason I can’t open your link but on3 had him ranked ninth highest in Div1 bball. You determine if overpaid after performance. The same if high NIL or low NIL. He was not overpaid nor was Flagg based on performance after the NIL fact.
This year in F4-
Cryer and Uzan high profile transfers for UH
Mazarin, Broome, Jones, and Kelly for Auburn
I don’t believe Duke has any transfers with solid performance and Gillis best of them.
Clayton, Martin, and Richard only portal players that contribute for Florida
But not in the 90’s. Time and place. Pre-internet trolling and live verbal abuse. The true beginnings of keyboard warriors were callers.
The problem with putting it on the jersey is they change jerseys. Home, away, special, throw back, etc.Just put a QR code on the back of their shirts you can scan them and get their names and all their stats and their social media and their NIL deal details.
