Official Prediction Thread: IU @ Minnesota...

And what are we drinking today?

We finally win a game and now we hit the road, heading to an always tough place to play, even if the host team isn't all that good this year. For us, as always, it all depends on which team shows up. More specifically, which Xavier Johnson. If the Xavier Johnson we saw play against Maryland is on the floor today, we'll have a good chance of coming home with a W. If 3-16 and 5 turnover Xavier Johnson is playing today, that's bad news.

I have a feeling we're going to go on a little mini-run here before our season finale in West Lafayette. We eke out a close one at The Barn today:

IU 71
Gophers 67

Pipeworks Dunkel for me this evening.

What say you Hoosier fans?

GO HOOSIERS!!

Biden at 37% approval rating. We all know the issues he and the admin face. Tuesday's State of the Union will be

very interesting. Qualified or not his SCOTUS pick is clearly a far left pick. He ran as a unifying centrist and pulled a bait and switch as a far left liberal in the eyes of many voters. It'll be interesting to hear what tenor he adopts on Tuesday and whether he disavows himself from the failed policies of the far left or continues to push BBB etc. Energy will be interesting too

Roster note

Things to watch leading up to today's game --

Obviously IU has had some injury luck lately.

It's been a month and a day since Rob Phinisee was hurt against Penn State (1/26). He hasn't had a boot or a scooter the last week or so and has been progressing and a month was thought to be the rough timeline for him as we really got into things. We will see if he goes through warm ups today. No idea if he will or not or even if that means he will play. But, just something we will be looking for. If he does come back in the last 3 games, will be a very welcomed sight.

Trey Galloway and Khristian Lander are the other two injuries that have impacted IU over the last few weeks.

This is the time when you want to be healthy or get healthy and IU needs at least two of those guys to be healthy in the next game or two.

The poison of politics

I’m watching Russia/Ukraine coverage right now and a guy is making a plea for additional aid.

And it got me thinking about the Afghanistan withdrawal. We supported the Afghan government, they lost in spectacular fashion when we left, and the government got run over the coals for leaving billions in equipment there for the government that got taken by the Taliban.

I highly suspect that if we don’t support Ukraine with material and they lose, the administration will be criticized for not supporting them. If we do provide more stuff for them and they lose they’ll be criticized for “giving” equipment to Russia.

Classic damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

Game two of the must wins happens tonight. Minny is the second worse team in the league, and has no real reason to play with us tonight. We see a continuation of our last performance. Would be great to get a few more guys in rhythm. Parker and Miller both should have open looks tonight. 40%+ from beyond the arc is what I want to see.

All Aboard!

The world will forget about Ukraine

In 6 months or less. Just as they forgot about Afghanistan. Perhaps a little longer because it's on Europe's doorstep. Americans have a very short attention span. A lot of flag waving from individuals who could not point to Ukraine on a map. And no we should not enforce a no fly zone. I think banning Russia from swift is a serious error and the dollar's dominance will continue to be chipped away. American power is on the decline and we are moving to a multipolar world. With each additional sanction on Iran, Russia, etc they slowly lose their effectiveness as these countries will begin to operate completely in their own bubble. Be careful what what sow.
