The reasom for Matta?

I find myself going conspiracy theory a bit with why Matta is on staff. He would have been a great outright hire and to a lesser extent, same with Fife for HC. I know you can rationalize it away with Dolson wanted somebody very experienced to guide/groom Woody and Fife, but it seems weird to me that Matta would want that job if he wanted any job and probably doesn't need one. He's like 5 years older than me and he looked that way 20 years ago, so I'm guessing his health is a legit concern for him and priority over coaching again. It still seems odd to me that he'd want a job at all. I suppose, maybe he was bored, and this isn't all that demanding, more like consigliore, but he's honestly not a ton older than Fife. I still like the triumvirate hire, but I'm starting to wonder what the grand scheme is or was that sold them all on this arrangement

So…now what do we need?

Not sure why I’m even entertaining the thought? But what gets us a bid now? Besides winning the BTT, obviously.

A win Saturday would probably do it.

Assuming that doesn’t happen, but we play them fairly tough…is a bud even possible at this point?

1 win, if it’s over MSU?…doubt it. But maybe. Bubble is baaad.

2 wins? Over MSU and Wisky? One would think that would be enough. I just don’t think BTT games are weighed as heavily.

3 wins for sure would get us in.

Sucks that all we needed was 1 more stinking win at some point. 1 more damn game of digging in and holding the commanding lead we had built well into the 2nd half.

We are such a trash program…

This is what happens when you hire coaches with absolutely no college experience. So many of us were admonished by everyone. These are the results you get when you go cheap. Indiana isn't serious about athletics. Period.

I’d love to know the cumulative points for and against for the entire Big 10 season in second half’s

Notable visitors tonight

IU will have some key visitors tonight for its game against Rutgers.

Official Prediction Thread: IU vs. Rutgers...

and what are we drinking tonight?

Anybody else looking at this game as a play-in? Last Big 10 spot goes to the winner? Sure feels that way. With that in mind, let's hope we come out and play like our NCAA tournament life is on the line, because it probably is. Rob P is back and we'll have the home crowd behind us, both will certainly help. We need X to keep playing the way he's been playing, same with Race. A big game from TJD certainly would help our cause as well. Other than the 30 he put up in the Wisconsin loss, he didn't have a great February. He needs to stay out of foul trouble and be a force on both ends of the floor.

I think we get it done tonight. It'll be a tight one, but we'll pull it out.

IU 74
Rutgers 68

Ten Ninety Juice God for me tonight.

What say you Hoosier fans?

GO HOOSIERS!!

My keys to tonight’s game

Who guards Harper? He’s 6’6” and 245. With our usual starting 5 I would guess Kopp but I’d prefer Race. Tough matchup either way.

Depending on whether Rutgers tries to pack it in to stop our inside game then we need to hit shots (duh!).

Finally, I think X is playing now with supreme confidence and focus. If he stays out of foul trouble and goes for 18+ points and 6+ assists we win by 10+.
