Two wins in the BTT get it done?

We open either against MSU or Michigan....Possible quarter-final opponents: Illinois/Purdue.

Just for shits and giggles, say we beat MSU and Illinois-----20-12, with wins over Purdue, OSU, MSU, Illinois, Notre Dame get it done?

I think so....WIth that being said, totally expect us to get dumped in 1st game..

Ok, off to the sectional----though not driving, so...........

Saturday Night Recruiting Watch: Sectionals 10 Championship

I am back at North Central High School tonight for the final round matchup of the loaded Sectional 10 with the Championship game tonight between CJ Gunn and Lawrence North vs Xavier Booker and Cathedral.

Gunn is a 2022 Indiana signee whereas Booker is a high priority as Indiana continues to build its 2023 recruiting class.

Last night saw Gunn drop an impressive 38 pts in Lawrence North win over Warren Central. Booker, on the other hand, had 16 pts in Cathedral's win over Arsenal Tech.

Be sure to follow along this thread and on twitter @KylerStaley for live updates throughout the game.

Game starts at 7:30 EST.

Four bonehead plays in the last 2 minutes is just par for the course all season! So disappointing to see it happen game after game.

Two awful passes by Johnson, one by Kopp and just an awful final shot by Johnson all in the last 2 minutes. It's no wonder we lose nearly every close game. We have to be one of the most stupid teams in the entire country because we do it time after time. They gave Purdue a lot better game than I thought they would today, but it's still a loss and there will be no NCAAT yet again.

Reoccurring Challenges

We simply don’t have shooters. It was awesome to see Kopp finally have a game where shots are dropping for him. It’s unfortunate this was not more common this season. As a team we shot 5-20 from three. Outside of Miller, we were 1-14. That’s gawd awful and again, consistent with the rest of the season.

We turned the ball over in a critical moment. But for the game, we had less than 10 turnovers, which helped keep us in it. But the other Achilles heal outside the shooting woes is simply not executing at the end of games. It happened twice vs wiscy, @OSU, and vs Rutgers. We were on the right side of it in our other contest with Pu but that was more of the exception than the rule.

Our other issue today was the enormous discrepancy in fouls. Today we were perfect from the line, but with a 10-10 performance, PU attempted 10 more free throws. Combine that with with the woeful 3 point shooting vs PU going 9-24. Three point shots and Free throws looked like this in points
PU: 41
IU: 25

Rinse and repeat I guess. Tip hat to the players for making it a great game and putting themselves in a position to win. But once again with the chance to win, we miss wide open shots and make a turnover on second to last possession and put it all together and it’s another loss. Sucks.

SUGGESTION FOR ESPN

This doesn't just apply to today and our Game, but it is an example of what is happening throughout College Basketball.. On ESPN , the Arkansas-Tennessee game was broadcast before ours. The last 4 Minutes took over 30 Minutes to plat with Timeouts and about 20 minutes of replay reviews. Game started at Noon and ended around 2:3 0 p.m. They cut to our game with less than 10 Minutes left in the Half.

I understand ESPN moves this stuff to other platforms, but I am a 70 Year old fart, with minimal Technology IQ. I an happy that the clock on the VCR no long blinks 12:00, I remember to charge my flip cell phone, and my Computer comes on and works each day.

My point is maybe ESPN needs to allocate 2.5 Hours per game and set the starting times accordingly. If You have a game that fits the two Hour frame, You have Studio People Who can fill time or preview the next game, If the game goes 2:20, you can fill 10 minutes with highlights, and analysis. Fox seems to set starting times this way with out major problems.

Also, We lost Picture and Audio for about 10 Minutes (5 minutes of playing time) halfway through the 2nd Half. I surfed through the 4 ESPN Stations We have on our package, and all of them had no picture or Audio. I assume that was an ESPN Network problem and not a Service Provider problem. Anyone hear anything about this?

People on Woodson’ case….chill out. It’s hasn’t even been 12 months.

It takes 3 yrs to get the players you recruit to just their sophomore year.

Chill the f out!

They have made huge strides on changing the decades of no accountability culture at IU. It won’t change over night and Woodson is going to piss some people and players off.

Year 3, they will have some fight in the program with players who want to win and finish teams off instead of take them for a walk in the park.

Saturday bubble games to watch

We’re in a fight, once again, for an NCAA bid. Obviously a win over Purdue today would do wonders at getting us safety into the field.

Assuming that doesn’t happen, the other games that will most impact our March Madness chances:

Kentucky @ Florida - 1:00pm - as much as it sucks to cheer for Kentucky a Florida win would almost certainly put them ahead of us in the bubble.

Virginia Tech (-3) @ Clemson - 1:00pm - if the Hokies win on the road they would also likely pass us on the seed line.

Loyola (-4) vs Northern Iowa - 2:30pm - MVC semifinal. Both teams are currently in the field but I imagine the loser is a goner, for good. Probably would want UNI to win this one as Loyola could squeak in by making the final?

Oregon at Washington State (-2)- 3:00pm - The Ducks are behind us in the pecking order but an Oregon loss would almost certainly knock them out of the field.

Georgetown at Xavier (-12.5) - 6:00pm - An upset by Georgetown would knock X off the bubble.

BYU (+2.5) vs. San Francisco - 9:00pm - west coast conference quarterfinals. At this point SF seems to somehow be in the field? BYU is in the log jam right there with us and a loss would knock them to the NIT.

Official Prediction Thread: IU vs. POTFB...

and what are we drinking this afternoon?

First, and as always, P!ss on the F*cking Boilers! POTFB!!!

Second, ugh, I am not looking forward to this game. I feel very confident that we are going to get pounded. They've lost 2 in a row and are playing at home. We just choked away yet another game and have shown nothing to suggest we'll be able to generate the intensity and mental fortitude to win at Mackey against a really good Purdue team. The spread is 10, if we keep them from doubling that I'll consider this game a moral victory.

IU 65
POTFB 88

Water. My daughter has back-to-back soccer games today, during the game, so I won't be watching. Oh I'll record it, but I won't be watching it unless I know we won, which means there's a 99.9999% chance I will not be watching. Godspeed to those of you putting yourselves through today's game.

What say you Hoosier fans?

GO HOOSIERS!!

+10 @ PU

If this was last year, I would have confidence we get blown out today. Last years team quit. This team hasn’t quit.

Realistically, IU is not close to out of the tourney. A win today puts us in. A win no one expects IU to get.

I would love to see a close game today. Show that grit and passion I believe this team still has. PU is playing bad, and our D won’t make things any easier. Hit some shots and play like you got nothing to lose. +10 for the season boys, all aboard!

Updated 2022 Expectations?

What are your updated expectations for 2022?

  • 2-10 Rough. No optimism for the future of the program.

  • 3-9 Rough. But will create a solid foundation for 2023 and beyond.

  • 4-8 or 5-7. OK. Just... ok. Not good. Not bad.

  • 6-6 Successful. We win enough to bowl and surprise some people.

  • 7+ Excellent. Bell's offense goes bananas and Allen's D is stellar.

Results are only viewable after voting.

Outstanding recruiting class.

Outstanding incoming tranfer class.

Outgoing players.... mixed bag.

New coaching staff, with more changes to come.

How does all this affect your outlook for 2022?
