Thoughts on last night's game

1) Think TJD was great on defense, haven't seen anyone saying that. Was holding my breath everytime ike backed him down, thought he was going to foul
2) JG saved with his athleticism but still lost on offensive sets a couple of times. He has a great instincts on offense and just has a sense if where to go
3) Race, feel bad for him and he just had an off night, maybe trying to hard. Remember everyone dumping on the 5 that got suspended and saying "if we don't make the dance and Race can't play in it" hiw mad we would be mad if we were him and he has THAT kind of game? He will bounce back
4) Pstew, everyone birtches about him but his switching d really helped and that was the key. Galloway was a foul machine and his 3 pt shot is off worse than Stewart's....
On to Portland and st Mary's

At the game last night

IU, for lack of strong finishes under the basket lost the ability to gain a substantial lead. Race, in particular seemed to have an awful shooting night.

Wyoming, ironically, seemed at their best defensively denying TJD the ball when Ike was on the bench with foul trouble.

Need much better shot selection and stronger under the basket against St Marys.

While they did not substantially affect the outcome, some of the officiating ran from terrible to bizarre at best.

Was good to see Hoosier Nation out in force. They will be missed in Portland.

St. Mary’s

What I’m picking up thus far is the have 4 players (3 guards and a forward) averaging 10-12 ppg. But as a team they’re shooting just 35% from 3. They play a full shot clock sort of O and do seem to fairly good on D.

Off the top I can’t see why they’re favored tomorrow. Just like last night we should dominate inside. And given they’re shooting just 35% from 3 it would appear the 3 guards will try to dribble penetrate. Hard row to hoe against are D! I like the matchup!

+3 +130 opening round of 64

Indiana is now slotted in on every bracket in America. Good to see that again. From here on out this is playing with house money. They have got back to the big dance and given themselves an opportunity. That is all I wanted from this team. They are playing the best ball of the year.

IU is not a 1 seed, hell they aren't a 6 seed.... If we shot lights out, we would be between those seed lines. We are a 12, we have deficiencies. Good news is TJD is playing like an all American and just got another chip to put on his shoulder not even getting an honorable mention.

Riding with house money, push those chips in and cash out big folks.

No spread, ML only.

ALL ABOARD!

Kopp/Stewart shooting

IU's offensive ineptitude can all be traced back to a lack of consistent outside shooting. What woes us is the following:

Since February 1, Miller Kopp and Parker Stewart are a combined 28/91 from three, which is good for a 30% clip.

If even one of those two can find some consistency from the three-point line tomorrow night, I like our chances.

If not, I see Saint Mary's packing the lane, sagging off shooters, and daring us to try to beat them from beyond the three-point line.

Should the refs have been allowed to overturn the third foul they called on Wyoming's center early

in the second half? I thought they were only allowed to do that the last two minutes of the game.

My understanding is they reviewed the play to determine whether Wyoming's center committed a flagrant 1 or flagrant 2. Instead, they changed the call so it was a foul on Race Thompson.

That was a huge call!
