About much more than ED

Good health never seems to be isolated to one thing, but a result of many factors working together to bring about a desired result.

This presentation is just that, a deep dive beginning with and surrounding the all to familiar subject of ED, but covering much more.

I lost both my parents a couple of years ago, one to Dementia, the other to heart disease. Gets your attention on ‘how do I avoid these?’

If you’re into better living, enjoy!

Favorable schedule in 2025

Saw a story where Ju Ju Lewis' dad noted that IU has a favorable schedule the next 2 years. I was aware that 2024 was easier than it has been given we are now no longer in the B1G East. 2025 is even better with non-Conference games with ODU, Kennesaw State and Indiana State. No O$U or Michigan either (but we do play at Oregon and At PSU). I'll gladly take it.

IUWBB

I saw the threads re our men’s big ten opponents for 24-25. I hope we are more than competitive . I thought I would put some stuff re the ladies up for those who follow.
Unfortunately I think we will have to have great team play to reach the top 20. UCLA and USC should be top 5 but SC and UConn I expect to be 1 and 2 (how do they keep doing that?).
We replace the all time scoring leader (Holmes) with our back up (Meister) a fine player but you cannot replace the all time points leader. We also added Karolino Striplin from Tennessee who came off the bench for them last year. Currie Jelks was essentially a red shirt by contribution last year and two incoming freshman bigs.
We replace the three point shooting of Sara Scalia with Shay Ciezki from Penn State. By stats, a bit of a drop off.
We should still be fun to watch but I do not see us hosting the ncaa in March.

Do Americans Still Value “Honesty”?

Mark Twain said “tell the truth or trump, but get the trick.” I always assumed he was being sarcastic. Maybe I was wrong,

I would argue nowadays honesty matters “maybe in personal relationships” but that “honesty” is no longer relevant to Americans when conducting business or when voting for or evaluating elected officials, that TV and social media have made it OK to lie by eliminating the consequences that accompanied “lieing” in the past. Was Nixon was the last time it mattered for Presidents? Does George Santos mark any change in the pendulum swing in politics? Can I slug an opposing player and lie about why and just move on? Were things just as bad in the post-Civil War days/“Gilded Age” of Twain?

Wisconsin 2024

Wisconsin got burned by the portal., losing Hepburn, Starr, and Essegian. Tyler Wahl also graduated.

They still have a nice core with Crawl, Klesmit, and Blackwell. Their transfers aren't rated especially high, but do fill in some missing pieces rather nicely.

Their rotation players appear to be:

--Steven Crawl, 7'0"
--Max Klesmit, 6'4"
--John Blackwell, 6'4"
--Xavier Amos, 6'8" TR
--Cam Hunter, 6'3" TR
--Daniel Freitag, 6'2" FR
--John Tonja, 6'6" TR
--Nolan Winter. 6'11"

Hunter averaged almost 16/4/4 in his 2nd year at Central Arkansas, and appears to be the starting PG. Amos averaged 14/6 in his 2nd year at N. Illinois, and shot 38% on 3s with decent volume.

Not much depth here. Winter looks like the best of several big stiffs at the backup center spot. Freitag is a top 100 FR to back-up the PG spot.

Projection: Wisconsin will lack front court strength & size, but has 3 nice shooters in Klesmit, Blackwell, and Amos. Amos & Hunter look capable. Tonja is something of a ? as a back-up piece as he's been injured. They tried to get Matt Cross out of the portal, but failed. I wouldn't be surprised to see a late addition. As things stand they need to avoid injuries. If they do, they look like a 7-11 BT team.

New Suites for Sale

Just got the email, in addition to the 9 field level suites, they're replacing the Rooftop at the Rock with 8 more suites for $25k/season.

Comes with 16 tickets & 4 parking passes.

If I had that kind of disposable income I'd love that kind of seat at the terrace level.

Now I just need to find a group willing to go in on the other 14 tickets I wouldn't use to fill the suite.

Recruiting Question Being Answered By IU Staff

Well I think the early signs point to Coach Cig being more than a hype talker. He is delivering. I can’t believe there hasn’t been more talk about the Baldwin commit? Here is proof they do have the ability to recognize and find talent where others may not see it. Baldwin wasn’t even ranked until after committing to IU. Now, they continue to get high level commitments from an impressive weekend event.

IU may still have a talent gap overall, but that gap appears only to exist on the player talent side of the ball. Our coaches have recruiting chops. Let’s hope their X’s & O’s are equally as impressive

“The trade deficit is a statistic with little relation to a country’s prosperity….the vast majority of trade economists do not see the U.S. trade deficit as a ‘problem’ to be solved.”

Trump’s most recent lie filled monologue

Some of you try to pretend to be appalled when Biden lies occasionally, but like to ignore the fact that every single speech Trump gives is filled with easily provable lies. Additionally, how you can listen to his word salad, rambling, losing track of his thoughts, bringing in things that have nothing to do with the subject, and making up words and find him fit is beyond me. I’m here to remind you every time Trump opens his mouth, he can barely complete a sentence without lying. And we just ignore it because we expect it of him. https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/31/politics/fact-check-trump-post-conviction-speech/index.html

Iowa 2024

Time to take a look at Iowa's 2024 prospects.

The rotation may include:

--Brock Harding, 6'0"
--Owen Freeman, 6'10"
--Payton Sandfort, 6'7"
--Josh Dix, 6'5"
--Drew Thelwell, 6'3" TR
--Seydou Traore, 6'7" TR
--Cooper Koch, 6'8" FR
--Chris Tadjo, 6'8" FR
--Ladji Dembele, 6'8"

6'10" Riley Mulvey RSed last year, and may also be a candidate for limited minutes.

2024 outlook: Iowa will be another interesting team to follow in 24. The trio of Freeman, Sandfort, and Dix is very solid. The question will be how well the role players perform. Harding and Thelwell look like the 4th and 5th starters. Thelwell was a 4 year player, 2 year starter at Morehead State who averaged over 6 assists per game and shot in the higher 30s on 3s last year on decent volume. Harding performed well playing 11m per game as a freshman. He can shoot and pass, but is only 6'0" 162 lbs, and not overly athletic. Transfer Traore is described as a freak athlete with limited basketball skills. Dembele is a thick physical guy who can also play D, but is very limited on offense. Koch and Radjo are two freshman generally rated in the top 100 of the '24 class. Tadjo is very athletic, but not real thick at 220 lbs.

Harding and Thelwell may be somewhat weak as 4th & 5th starters, but there is decent depth and talent here, albeit somewhat young/inexperienced. Overall, Iowa looks like a tourney team who should finish in the 7th-9th place range in the 18 team BT.
