Kentucky@IU: IU blasts UK, 20-7...

Kentucky got a homer from the leadoff batter in the 1st to start the game. A ground out, walk, a flyout, and two more walks load the bases with two outs. A triple scored all three walks which is something all too familiar from the Troy series, and IU has themselves in a big hole already at 4-0 and we haven't even had a bat yet. A flyout ended the T1st. Kentucky's lineup is loaded with juniors and seniors with three juniors and six seniors, but I don't know how many are their normal starters. IU has a really serious problem with their pitching staff giving up free passes, and the walks seem to always find homeplate, at least lately.

In IU's 1st, Doanes led off with a double and Glasser then doubled to score Doanes, so IU is off to a good start offensively. A single by Whalen put runners on the corners with no outs. Ellis then hit a 395 ft 3-run homer to tie the game with no outs. Tibbetts grounded out, Pyne struck out, and Colopy flied out to end the inning with the game tied at 4-4.

Both pitchers have struggled in the 1st, Hayden with control problems and Logue simply got hit hard.

Which Big Ten team will advance the farthest in the Big Dance

I am not sure if the Big Ten has a great team. I think that they are all about the same. I don't think any will make the Final 4 and maybe not even the Sweet 16, but it was fun to watch them battle each other where pretty much any team could beat any other team. Iowa has no defense. Illinois has no bench. Purdue is inconsistent and Ivy is a street baller. OSU fell apart and MSU has no offense and Wisconsin has no bench and it doesn't help that Johnny Davis is hurt. Nobody has four players you can trust. Maybe the Hoosiers will make a run, but to do that Koop, Galloway, Phinesse and Stewart need to all step up. I hope that happens. Galloway needs to also curb his enthusiasm. He almost tries too hard and his four big mistakes in the last three minutes against Iowa hurt a lot and no, I am not blaming him for Bohannon 's lucky shot but his errors gave Iowa the chance to get lucky.

Official Prediction Thread: IU vs. Wyoming...

and what are we drinking tonight?

Well, well, well. The last time I did one of these for an NCAA Tournament game was March 25th 2016. #1 North Carolina was our opponent that day and we had already beaten Kentucky along the way. It seems like ages ago, but we are now back!

I know a lot of people are upset that we're in the First Four, but I don't care. We're back in the Big Dance, that's all I care about.

Wyoming seems like a team that is very similar to us- they focus on scoring inside rather than from the perimeter. The biggest difference should be that our size allows us to protect the rim and limit what they want to do. That and the fact Wyoming is flying across the country on short notice to play us in our neck of the woods should bode well for us.

We've played 4 physical and emotional games in a week so we need to muster up both physical and mental energy to win this game and move on. Like Coach Woodson said, they're 20! I think we come out guns a blazing and take down the Cowboys.

IU 72
Wyoming 62

Ten Ninety Angry Dragon for me tonight.

What say you Hoosier fans?

GO HOOSIERS!!

Injury notes

Here was the full quote from Mike Woodson yesterday RE: injures.

Obviously a quick turnaround for the Hoosiers so Jordan Geronimo may look to be a game-time decision.

--

"Well, I think -- I don't know about Jordan, I think Trey is going to be fine. We've just got to -- listen, we weren't one of the schools that was thrown in there where we played Friday or Thursday, they give us three or four days to prepare. Hey, they put us where we've got to play our way in, and it's Tuesday.

"Mentally I've got to get these guys -- I just met with them, and hey, it's a quick turnaround. We've got to get ready to play Wyoming. It's just that simple."
