Easily my favorite coach In the country. Have a nice story on him. We lived in Bucks County, Pa at the time. I recognized Jay at a great little local restaurant. I tried to play big boy and order their table a really nice bottle of wine. Jay acknowledged with a wink and a nod. Made my night. As my wife and I were leaving, we got stopped at the door. Had memories of The Godfather. Dude took us back to that table. Jay likes better wine than me. Great dude, absolutely the best. Go Nova

They’re up a point against a good, but inferior Arkansas. The Zags have a lot of empty trips because they push it too fast and take quick shots that lead to a lot of bad shots or TO’s.

I once let an employee go who was going to leave so that he could get a severance. It possibly looked like a firing but I was really doing him a favor. Is it possible that if Dane resigned we would lose a year of pay. Because he was was fired without cause, he gets $300k + to start his next adventure. That would make coach Woody the bigger man. He is taking some heat to help Dane out when both knew it wasn't a good fit.

I suppose they feel our season of finally winning a couple B1G tourney games, making the big dance, and actually winning a game in the big dance was very underwhelming for them.

I really am not sure why we have so many trolls, haters, negative Nancy’s on this board. But it is funny how they go so radio silent until something they perceive as negative happens.

I like the idea if he would be willing to do it. The $$ wouldn't be enticing but maybe he would do it for IU and to work with a great friend? I doubt it but I'd like it if he would.

Who do we want/think it'll be? I see some ppl mentioning Walsh/Adams elsewhere.

I've seen some others mention that Woodsons supposedly wants someone young who can recruit hard and run summer workouts, but no idea how true that is.

All he's done for years is bitch about IU needing an IU guy to run the program, then he immediately started dumping on Woody based on how he talked before there was even a practice.

I have no idea what he did as an assistant coach exactly or how well he did his job. I liked him as a fan when he was a player (except when he fouled Jason Williams with 4 seconds left). Suffice it to say, working well together with the head coach and your colleagues on the staff are big parts of being an assistant coach and he failed at that. I think if he were some sort of basketball coaching savant he’d be a head coach by now. For perspective, he and Archie Miller graduated in the same year.

He gets a free $375k for his trouble. Everyone moves on. We’ll never know the whole story, which is ok with me. According to this, he was the highest paid assistant and received a raise from his MSU salary:

IF Fife were not a former Hoosier----not a peep. Just like if Alford wan't a former Hoosier, not a soul on here, with his resume, would have wanted him as a HC...

Woodson did not hire Fife. And apparently in his opinion, Dane did not meet the standards Mike expected----so he fired him.

Ok....Assistants get fired/demoted every year----But this is different b/c Fife played here...

God this, "Indiana shit" gets old.....Like former IU players have some type of immunity here, or earned privilege b/c they played here....
