Saturday Recruit Watching (State Finals)

Finally made it over to Gainbridge Fieldhouse to watch the evening portion of the IHSAA Boys Basketball State Finals which features the Class 3A Championship game at 6 pm followed by the Class 4A Championship game around 8:15 pm.

Earlier today, North Daviess defeated Lafayette Central Catholic in double OT to win the Class 1A Championship and Providence won the Class 2A Championship defeating Central Noble in the process.

The Class 3A Championship will feature Beech Grove (21-6) versus Mishawaka Marian (24-3). Both schools are led by two outstanding power forwards each with Anthony Ball (BG) and Kaleo Kakalia (MM).

The Class 4A Championship which feature a huge clash of dominant schools as undefeated Chesterton (29-0) will face the stacked team of Cathedral (25-6). Obviously the name that we are more focused on here is Cathedral's Xavier Booker (2023, PF) who #iubb has made one of their top priorities trying to fill the 2023 recruiting class. I have will have more in depth notes on Booker's performance in this thread once the 4A Finals gets going.

The High School season is about to wrap up in the next few hours and we have two very good games to end it on coming up in less than an hour!

(OT): Memphis and Penny in Trouble

Color me un-surprised

I'm sure the NC-double-a-holes have everything under control. Apparently you can cheat egregiously at certain schools (North Carolina, Arizona, LSU, Kansas, etc) but as long as Penny didn't make too many phone calls he should be okay. (RME)

Question About Where We Are Right Now

Guards: XJ, Bates, JHS, Gunn
Wings: Geronimo, Kopp, Galloway, Leal
Bigs: TJD, Race, Duncomb, Banks

I love hearing the rumors that Race, Trayce, XJ might want to come back next year and that would just be WONDERFUL. I know things are still in motion with the Renau kid and getting him would be WONDERFUL.

BUT...I hate stating the obvious again...WHO, ON THIS ROSTER, CAN MAKE THREES CONSISTENTLY? Surely to goodness we aren't going to commit the same sin over and over and over again...

For you guys who know stuff about recruiting, are we involved with any recruit/portal entrant, who can actually make the three consistently?

Go Hoosiers!
