1st Inning:

Bothwell is on the mound and Coach Mercer has said that he wants Bothwell to get through several innings considering they have five games in five days and they have to be careful with their use of the bullpen because of the schedule. It's 48 degrees at game time and mostly cloudy.

T1st:

Bothwell got a K to start the game and then got a GO for the 2nd out. He then walked the next batter on a 3-1 count to put a man on with two outs. A K retired the side.

B1st:

Glasser walked to lead off. Whalen reached on a bunt single to the pitcher to put runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs. Jesse walked on four pitches to load the bases with no outs.

Pyne scored Glasser on a SF with runners holding at 1st and 2nd and one out.

Mathison K'd looking for the 2nd out.

Jessee and Whalen successfully executed a double steal to reach 2nd and 3rd.

Tibbitts reached on an error at 1B (dropped ball) with Whalen scoring an unearned run. Ellis grounded out to end the inning with IU up 2-0.

2nd Inning:

T2nd:

Bothwell put them down in order.

B2nd:

It's the 8, 9, and 1 hitters up with Cerny leading off.

Cerny, who is off to a really good start at the plate in his first season with IU, got his first triple of his IU career to lead off.

Colopy was hit by a pitch to put runners on the corners and Glasser K'd for the 1st out.

Whalen doubled to drive in Cerny and Colopy to make it 4-0, IU.

Jessee then hit a 2-run homer to make it 6-0 and that chased the Mastodon starter.

PFW brought in RHP Brendan Reid who has an ERA of 10.50 in 6 IP to face Pyne with one out and no runners on.

Pyne walked on a 3-1 count. Mathison then singled to put runners on 1st and 2nd with one out.

Tibbitts then clubbed a 3-run homer to empty the bases and give IU a 9-0 lead with one out.

Ellis K'd for the 2nd out and Cerny popped up to RF to end the inning.

3rd Inning:

T3rd:

It's the 9, 1 and 2 hitters for PFW. Bothwell hit the leadoff man. Bothwell then K'd the next batter for his 4th K of the game so far. The next batter fouled out to RF for the 2nd out with the runner still at 1st.

A walk put runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs. A double scored PFW's first run and the hit batter burned Bothwell.

With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two outs, Bothwell K'd the next batter to retire the side.

B3rd:

It's the 9, 1, and 2 hitters up for IU, and PFW goes to the bullpen again to bring in another pitcher with an elevated ERA of 15.75 in 4 IP.

B5th:

It's the bottom of the order up for IU and PFW brings in their 5th pitcher of the game in RHP Mac Ayres with an ERA of 11.57 in 9.1 IP. Ayres and the pitcher used in the previous inning are both starting pitchers for the Mastodons.

Ellis walked to lead off and Cerny followed with a walk to put runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs.

Colopy grounded out to 1B to move the runners to 2nd and 3rd with one out and the top of the order up.

Glasser then doubled down the LF line to score both runners and make it 11-1.

With a new pitcher on the mound, Glasser stole 3rd and scored on a GO by Whalen. Jessee and Pyne both walked, and Mathison was hit by a pitch to load the bases, but Tibbitts grounded out to end the inning with IU up 12-1.

T6th:

IU brings in freshman RHP Ethan Phillips and he gave up a leadoff single, but got the next three hitters to retire the side.

B6th:

PFW brings in RHP Mike Madura to face the bottom of the order. Ellis and Cerny both walked, and Colopy doubled to score both runners. Glasser then singled at the top of the order with Whalen hitting into a DP for two outs. Taylor then pinch hitted for Jessee and he grounded out to end the inning with IU up 14-1.

IU brings in LHP Nathan Ball to face the 5 thru 7 hitters. Ball hit the leadoff hitter. Ball got a GO and a K for the first two outs with the runner taking 2nd. Ball then walked the next batter to put runners on and 2nd with two out. A WP moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd, and ball then K'd the next batter to retire the side with no damage done.

9th Inning:

T9th:

RHP Cooper Katskee came in to close it out and he put down the first two batters before giving up a two-out walk. A K ended the game.

IU had 14 hits in the game.

Glasser was 4 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Whalen was 2 for 5 with a double and three RBIs.
Jessee hit a 2-run homer and Tibbitts had a 3-run homer.
Cerny was 1 for 3 with a triple, his first as a Hoosier.
Colopy had a 2-run double.

IU used six pitchers with Bothwell going 4 IP to get the win, with the other five pitchers going one inning each.

Bothwell numbers were 4 IP, 1 hit, 1 run which was earned, 6 Ks, 2 BBs, and a hit batter. He gave up one XBH, a double.

IU had no errors which is certainly a positive given all of the players, both position players and pitchers, that were used.
