Smart guy, he'll adjust. Just as he would have if the B10 refs ever decided to start blowing the whistle on him.
It is going to be interesting how he ends up playing "off the ball". They aren't likely going to run much of anything for him with guys like Ja Morant on their team. So coming from a situation where literally every single playwas designed to get him the ball on the block, to maybe getting a couple every game in certain situations...often none though... Well, lets just say it'll be interesting how he adapts to that.
I do see some potential for a decent amount of lobs from Ja though. That could become a staple for Edey.
He doesn't need to score much in the NBA to be valuable. Setting screens, protecting the paint, extending possessions and rebounding alone will make him valuable. I've said all along, I think he'll have a long NBA career, but doubt it will be as a primary scorer.

Agreed...it'll just be interesting to see how he adapts to that role. Often times in the NBA, that role is filled by guys that have quite a lot better ball skills than Edey has so far. He can shoot free throws, and his improvements in college were pretty dramatic, so I'm sure he'll develop all this. But as of now, he can't handle the ball, and has actually been a pretty awful passer out of the post. Hard to think of someone on Ja Morant's team, that isn't a good passer, sticking... Hope he does though, honestly.
As discussed here before, I don't know why the B10 promotes prisonball, it's bad for the conference.
Yeah, I never thought he was a great passer, but many PU folks lauded him for it. My view was, with 3 guys collapsed on him, anyone he could hit would be open but I never thought he was crafty in finding the right guy. That was something TJD improved on amazingly. But when I think of guys like Ben Wallace, Rodman, Dale Davis, Buck Williams, or Mark Eaton there have always been guys who hung around and were valuable but not good ball handlers. I'd think if he can improve his passing that would be the biggest ROI and realistic. Not sure he'll ever be someone you want handling the ball.
Could be. Edey is unique. But just seems like the types of guys you mention are a dying breed in the NBA.
Maybe Edey is already better at the stuff away from the basket than I'm giving him credit for? But if not, I suspect his impact will end up being less and less.
There's a reason the guys you mentioned are a dying breed. Too many teams in the NBA have all 5 of their guys playing away from the basket any more. Not saying Ben Wallace, or Rodman couldn't guard away from the basket, they could. But it certainly wasn't a strength of theirs. And any sort of handling of the ball, or passing, basically none of the guys you mention could do it well.
Guys like TJD are becoming the modern day version of those guys you mentioned. With the big difference being the modern day guys can guard more effectively away from the basket, and handle the ball and pass better.
Again, it'll be interesting to see him evolve. And on his passing...he's an awful passer out of the post. He didn't really ever get much of a chance on the perimeter, other than handoffs on his illegal screen ball handoffs.
valid point..when the entire opposition is collapsing on you, you don't have to be Larry Bird to find an open man camped out on the 3 pt line. The guys you mentioned were all vacuum cleaners on the glass. There's always a place on a roster for a guy who can come in, clamp down on defense and own the boards. Even in a bench role. At any level.
No, I just think he'll learn not to play so physically and goon-like. I always said, if I was Painter, I'd have been telling him to be even more aggressive. I never felt like I was doing all I could if I only had 2 fouls to end a game!
Probably for the same reason why the Pacers traded away their MJ pick for a bum.
