Was firing Bill Mallory. Yes the program stuttered for a few seasons, and yes Mal was stubborn regarding loyalty to his staff. But, given IU’s futile history as a doormat, his run at IU (even the first few years) should have earned him tenure. Eventually, he would have had success again or make whatever changes were needed. IU treated him like IU was a football blue blood. So, here we go through the coaching rinse cycle again (Cameron, DiNardo, Hep, Lynch, Wilson, Allen). IU had its chance to be a perennial upper conference team, but blew it. The odds of Allen pulling out of this deadly tail spin are slim. Oh how I wish I had been born into a Buckeye family….
