Worst coached….

Top 5 nil and the best we can hope for is an occasional NCAAT berth and a massacre loss before the the second weekend.

You're right, time for a lifetime contract for Bigfoot Woodson and Mummy Hill.

I hope the IU marketing department gets on board as well. "We can't do any better!"
I said none of those things. Are you a professional straw man builder or is it just a hobby?

I must be blind but I don't see this huge difference in talent.

Guard wise, we aren't especially talented, and haven't been. X was our best guard for 3 years!

Ours don't handle and don't shoot. Neither did Archie's.

Haven't had a good guard since Yogi.
Well if what you say is true - that we have mid major talent at guard comparable to Miami OH - then we have yet another problem because not only can Woody not coach very well but he also cannot evaluate talent. Those guys were hand picked and bought and paid for by Woody.

Miami looked like a high school team.
You should have heard me giving it to Potter. “Here we go now three five, let it rain!!!” Facial expressions would have made everyone proud. True game face

Rices handles are awful. He will get it swiped often in the B1G if he is as careless as I’ve seen him with it.

Unreachable standard? You are the guy who pointed to results of last nights game and justified the current situation. Is that the standard that you have set? Most of the complaints have centered around the lack of a scheme/identity on the offensive end coupled with fundamental play and effort. The standard that IU basketball should be held to is unreachable under Woodson. NIL is literally the only thing saving him. The Hysterics are clowns, but how could you listen to that and not he disgusted? If you have any connections to high school or aau coaches ask them what the sentiment around the state is.
Ugh. There's another outdated reference -- "the sentiment around the state." What, coaches around the state? Booster clubs around the state? Parents?

Players these days don't have any loyalty to their high schools either. High school recruiting is a real thing. And, Hickory was fictional in the first place. Don't act like those days still exist.

I have criticized Woodson recently based on what I personally saw, but it's totally invalid for you to say you're judging Woodson supposedly under an undefined standard of "the sentiment around the state" (a totally meaningless expression).

May, Buckner, Thomas, Guyton, Hood-Schifino, Oladipo, Ware, Reneau, Sheehey, and a bizillion other great IU players did not play high school ball in Indiana. Stop acting like it makes your reasoning look more valid by claiming Woodson is also being pilloried by "the sentiment around the state."

I am referring to AAU coaches and High School coaches, like I referenced in my post. If their perception is he is lazy as hell and does not show up then it is reality. Did I say they had to recruit only Indiana players? Hell, did I say he had to recruit Indiana kids at all? Now, if they think that then what do you think people from outside the state think? You don't believe that top AAU programs don't compare notes when it comes to college coaches and their staff? If you do not think it has an impact on his ability to recruit then I do not know what to tell you. I could be wrong, but I believe we have some guys who would not be here if it were not for the financial gain. There was a great podcast with Matt Painter about his philosophy and it was tremendous in terms of what he looked for in kids. There is a reason they have a great culture and continue to have sustained success without some of the advantages a place like IU has. You have heard someone like Cignetti outline his rationale for who they targeted and why. Woodson spoke with Drew Adams and did not even know who he was targeting! Think about that! Name me one area in which you find Woodson to be competent at. What does he do well as the coach of a once proud basketball school!

We were at 7.2m before Goode and James signed on. So depending on the exact number from last year, we doubled our NIL. Pete Yonkman is the voice in the room now. The majority of the boosters wanted Woody gone after last year and made some moves but all of them together didn't equal the Cook family crew. So here comes Pete with the money and an expected ROI. Remember Woody at senior night? Job safe, and he believed with the right talent he could win at a high level. Since the portal he has not checked the boxes. As time passes more and more of the behind the scenes atrocities will leak out, but believe me when I say the conversations being had aren't about wins and losses it's about framing the Woody departure as his choice and his legacy, returning us to legitimacy etc, etc. We need minimum 12 conference wins just to get in the tournament.

So let's cheer on the guys. Carlyle is a super kid and so is Rice. Newton I think will give us a wow moment this year. We have the talent we were so excited to get. It's just not in an environment to excel.
Who is going to talk Woodson into graciously walking away. I don’t see him going voluntarily.

Maybe his buddy Buckner when he realizes he can't protect him any more!
Buckner gets a lot of blame for the Woodson debacle. As more and more comes out, all signs point to the Cook Team.

Absolutely.. And have fun at games even though Indiana is battling for 10th place in the BIG every ****ing year!
Not the results we want but Woodson has been here 3 years and finished 9th, 2nd, and 6th in the Big Ten. We have not been fighting for 10th place every year. And he did it in years 2 and 3 with significant injuries to 2 starters in his second year and 1 in his 3rd.

If we stay healthy this year hopefully we see a top 3 finish.
