Worst coached….

Maybe.

But we won by 19, so...

The takeaway here from every game, nay, every play, is that Woody sucks. And it's angry.

Archie sucked way worse than Woodson and never dealt w such anger here.
Archie got similar hate by year 4....from the same guys, mostly, including smitty, who previously said we could do so much better than Crean, if we only hired a good coach, like, for example.....Archie Miller.

I must be blind but I don't see this huge difference in talent.

Guard wise, we aren't especially talented, and haven't been. X was our best guard for 3 years!

Ours don't handle and don't shoot. Neither did Archie's.

Haven't had a good guard since Yogi.
Totally agree. I'd argue JHS was good. I haven't seen a huge difference in talent performance but talent potential under MW has to have been way higher.

When he was hired w Fife and Matta, I had a different vision of where things were heading than what we see now.

For one, I thought one of our best guards ever could recruit and coach that position.

It didn't work. I was wrong. We were wrong. Again.

I thought Archie was a good hire, too. lol

And Crean! lol

You have to admit that the portal/NIL conditiions are much different now and Archie made no play to the boosters about paying for success.

I am far more aware of that than you will ever be.

This is Woody's last season here and that won't stop me from enjoying the wins and supporting my alma mater. Again, something else you will never comprehend.
As much as I want Woodson gone I was rooting for a 20 plus win right to the end. Somewhere I think I read when playing these awful teams you need to win +20 to not get hurt with NET.

Maybe I am wrong but believe there were more opposed at the start to Woodson’s hiring than Archie. The issues with Woodson were visible from the start. He had no college experience, retirement age, mediocre NBA results, etc. With Archie there was more optimism. Mid major success, young, successful brother, good looking wife, etc.

Woodson was a new class not a nepo baby but a nepo retiree.

The hope for some was that we get a little bit of RMK with Woodson but instead we got a lot of Billy Tubbs.

What? How do I know what? You don’t think IU can do a better job of hiring?
I have no idea, and neither do you.

You aren't qualified to judge IU or their hiring practices. You don't know who would come here, or who would do a good job, as evidenced by your claim we should hire Archie.

The only thing you appear qualified to do is bitch, moan, and educate us about the strength of Purdue and their roster.

Good lord dude…It’s ****ing IU! Iu can and should be able to hire a quality coach. They have a history of totally botching the hire. Goes back to letting players decide we need to keep Davis. Also pretty sure IU could have landed a Bruce Pearl, Chris Beard, Dusty May.

Our football timing couldn’t have been better. They’ve given me my sports high for the year. Basketball? I’ll probably use about half of my tickets and wait for the hammer to fall when the season is over. I’m not going to care enough to complain about it every game and get my blood pressure up. Basically I’ll not invest much.

This right here. I care but I won't get all emotional about it. We went last night and enjoyed it for the most part. Not sure if we'll go to another game this year or not.

Team in the BIG
You and other IU fans hold this coach to a different almost unreachable standard, while not noticing how poorly other teams can play and how poorly other coaches can coach. It's a very myopic generally ignorant view. This doesn't mean he's a great coach he's not and that's obvious but he's not the bumbling fool some of you make him out to be.

He is just not a very good college coach. He tries to run his team like an NBA team and it doesn t work. He doesnt demand they play hard, he doesnt reward for playing hard, he doesn’t harp fundamentals. He doesn’t work to recruit and build relationships in the state. He may or may not be the worst but IU sure as hell expects more from their basketball coach than what Woody is giving.

Pure conjecture, you have no clue if that's true or not but you want to believe it so it must be true. Too much of that in current society.
Ok, he has teams that look like they are missing fundamentals, he has teams that look like they don't play hard, he has teams that do not win despite having accomplished significant milestones in high school. He is dismissive of criticism and what he claims he is accountable for (getting them over the hump) almost never happens, yet, he hasn't been held accountable.

That's not conjecture, it's as behaviorally objective as it gets.

Proof is on the court…Mbawko is lazy never gets his ass chewed or taken out. Gets a tech, nothing from the bench and stays in the game. Poor lazy post pass entry, blocking out, fT shooting. Etc.. is poor fundamentals. Perception is reality

Unreachable standard? You are the guy who pointed to results of last nights game and justified the current situation. Is that the standard that you have set? Most of the complaints have centered around the lack of a scheme/identity on the offensive end coupled with fundamental play and effort. The standard that IU basketball should be held to is unreachable under Woodson. NIL is literally the only thing saving him. The Hysterics are clowns, but how could you listen to that and not he disgusted? If you have any connections to high school or aau coaches ask them what the sentiment around the state is.

From where I sat, I watched Mgbako and Rice getting their asses ripped repeatedly. Mac got say down on at.least three occasions last night. I see a few in here saying Woody just sits for 35 of the 40 minutes of each game. That's pure bull.

If you don't like him, that's fine. If you think IU needs a new coach, that's fine. If you don't like the offensive actions, or the defensive schemes he runs, great. Making up shit to justify your narrative is a different story.

And if you think we have strong fundamentals and discipline that’s fine…I disagree

Top 5 nil and the best we can hope for is an occasional NCAAT berth and a massacre loss before the the second weekend.

You're right, time for a lifetime contract for Bigfoot Woodson and Mummy Hill.

I hope the IU marketing department gets on board as well. "We can't do any better!"

Look, I graduated in 1976 and guess who my favorite Hoosier player of all time has always been....Woodson. From the 1st time I saw him play as a senior at Broad Ripple and IU recruit, I thought he was special. He was an awesome player. I could not have been more excited and optimistic when he came back to coach, especially after Archie's shit show.

But is anyone happy with what we've been seeing on the floor for more than 3 seasons? F--k no.

This year he has a $5 million dream team. It's loaded with talent and can only squeak out wins in the last few minutes of games against middle of the pack MAC teams. We didn't look much better against even lesser teams. We got blown out by a mediocre Louisville team in a game that looked fundamentally like all the others. And let's just forget Gonzaga,

Lack of concentration, sloppy with the ball, no effort at either end of the floor, and clearly poorly coached. Add in the nepotism and shenanigans behind the scenes and it's well beyond time for a fundamental change. CMW would rather golf than do the hard work of being a coach and his enablers, I mean the powers-that-be at IU, seem to be blind to it or just don't care.

We deserve better, so much better. This is not being disloyal, it is the exact opposite. I want an IU program that I can be proud of like all the other loyal fans. I was 100% wrong about our coach. I still love Woodson the player, but he doesn't have the drive, temperament, or ability to coach IU.

In your opinion what’s the problem?

We were at 7.2m before Goode and James signed on. So depending on the exact number from last year, we doubled our NIL. Pete Yonkman is the voice in the room now. The majority of the boosters wanted Woody gone after last year and made some moves but all of them together didn't equal the Cook family crew. So here comes Pete with the money and an expected ROI. Remember Woody at senior night? Job safe, and he believed with the right talent he could win at a high level. Since the portal he has not checked the boxes. As time passes more and more of the behind the scenes atrocities will leak out, but believe me when I say the conversations being had aren't about wins and losses it's about framing the Woody departure as his choice and his legacy, returning us to legitimacy etc, etc. We need minimum 12 conference wins just to get in the tournament.

So let's cheer on the guys. Carlyle is a super kid and so is Rice. Newton I think will give us a wow moment this year. We have the talent we were so excited to get. It's just not in an environment to excel.

If they had beaten UL or Gonzaga they would not be worrying about blowouts vs Miami of Ohio.

Saying something “looks like” is the very definition of subjective.

We can only hope you are correct.
Do you have the NIL figures with more granularity than the total? I've seen $400K for Leal and $500K for Gallo, but would love the see what everyone on the roster gets.
I honestly think we would be getting hungrier kids if we had better coaching as opposed to the highest $$ thrown at recruits/transfers.
