I see the writing on the wall: Calbert is next to follow Woody. I give it three years, max.
No chance. If Woody's tenure isn't successful, IU won't hire another former player.I see the writing on the wall: Calbert is next to follow Woody. I give it three years, max.
Yeah, you're probably right. No chance. If Woody's tenure isn't successful, IU won't hire another former player.
Don't see any chance of that happening. Maybe if he'd been on the bench 10 years and CMW had established himself as a "program" coach who could select his replacement (ala Roy-Hubert), but that's not the case. Don't see any way this happens, unless something happened, he were promoted as an interim and they went on a wild run and they players were supporting him.I see the writing on the wall: Calbert is next to follow Woody. They would hire Calbert if he was head coaching material, which he is not.No chance. If Woody's tenure isn't successful, IU won't hire another former player.
Calbert has never even been a head coach. And unless Woodson makes a final 8 I doubt they would hire another former player.I see the writing on the wall: Calbert is next to follow Woody. I give it three years, max.
I could see weird IU hiring Ya. I really could. And I'd be finished.I see the writing on the wall: Calbert is next to follow Woody. I give it three years, max.
What about a former Knight manager? No chance. If Woody's tenure isn't successful, IU won't hire another former player.
Then you say this is the coach we are hiring , and if you choose to leave then there is the door . With the portal you could replace those who left really guickly , and not have to go through a complete rebuild .sets up another interesting scenario. the team pulls another "we want Calbert" or we leave.
seen it before.
should have been done last time. Then you say this is the coach we are hiring , and if you choose to leave then there is the door . With the portal you could replace those who left really guickly , and not have to go through a complete rebuild .
We let the inmates run the asylum once. And 23 yrs later we’re still trying to course correct.should have been done last time.
Highly doubt cal wants the job!Yeah, you're probably right.
Look two posts above mine..Can you elaborate?
Calbert had the UE head coaching job locked up and made comments that led the university to hire Walter McCarty. I heard him say in an interview that he likes the role he is in and indicated he had no interest in being a head coach, He said money isn't an issue for him and I don't believe him when he says he doesn't want to be a head coachI see the writing on the wall: Calbert is next to follow Woody. There was no transfer portal at the time but was still a mistake. We let the inmates run the asylum once. And 23 yrs later we’re still trying to course correct.
I’d really like to know what happened there. McCarty was an unmitigated disaster. Calbert could have set himself up for big things in the coaching world with a couple of good seasons at UE.Calbert had the UE head coaching job locked up and made comments that led the university to hire Walter McCarty. I thought he coached at St.Louis U. ?Calbert has never even been a head coach. And unless Woodson makes a final 8 I doubt they would hire another former player.

he was an assistant coach at St LI thought he coached at St.Louis U. ?
Why don't you believe him when he says he doesn't want to be a head coach?Calbert had the UE head coaching job locked up and made comments that led the university to hire Walter McCarty. He's surprised me twice with Miller and Allen. He might do it again.I love Cal but....no.
If Dolson's football move was any indication, that next b-ball hire could be a doozy that sorta surprises us.
At least that's my hope.
Until then, I wish Coach Woodson the best and will cheer them on...
That was under the previous President. There may now be new motivation for better results in Athletics. The Football coach hire is one clue. He's surprised me twice with Miller and Allen. He might do it again.
