Mods, can we have a civil discussion on the incident or do we need to censor and pretend it never happened? The guy got into the face of an assistant after the int return and I want to know what IU fans think about it. My opinion is it was totally unacceptable. This is not an attempt to flame but I couldn't believe my eyes. I will be more careful on my choice of words but I dislike wilson very, very much for IU.

The infraction appeared to be the IU assistant was too excited about the play in an attempt to bear hug the head coach.

Can anybody recall another instance where another head coach has had a similar reaction in that situation? It was beyond odd... Not just that a head coach would react that way, but how could assistant think he would react so differently...

The assistant came up and grabbed CKW. It was not Wilson getting in the face of the assistant. Again, I think Wilson wants them to have the attitude that they have done it before. He has often said, don't get too high or too low over one play or game.

I saw Wilson and thought, what an ass! From a fan perspective, completely unnecessary. For a second, I thought the assistant might punch Wilson out. By the way, does anyone know who the assistant was?

I suppose he could have been sending a message that there was time remaining on the clock. Still, his removal of the headset and getting in the face of the assistant seemed over the top; particularly given the play that had just been made by the D.

It was Coach Inge, who from what I can tell is very likable. I think that was all just a combination of being surprised by someone grabbing you by the neck and still lots of game left...NOT a time to celebrate yet! If Coach Wilson was so awful I think a coach like Coach Frey would have left already!

Can someone post the video to see it again? Unfortunately I have verizon fios and I switched from non-HD to HD when Nebraska was over and missed it myself going crazy when we scored and lost ability to rewind.

Check your DVRs it was really strange. React that way with a player I can see, but a coach? I've disliked this guy for you ever since another strange media appearance with the local radio station a few years back. He reminds me too much of Tim Brewster. Smoke and mirrors. It will be very telling if key coaching personnel move on for greener pastures after this year. Who else can we get? Who would come to IU who is better? I've read the forum here. Get a current FCS coach with HC experience and you will be better off. The sooner you fire CW the better. This guy will never succeed at IU.

Who is your team?

You are using "your" and "our" interchangeably in your post.

Right after that, were Wilson and Inge both addressing Fletcher? Maybe CKW was just reminding the LB coach that one of his squad needed some coaching.

Mobbing your HC is not cool unless it's the game winning play, but that can be addressed behind closed doors.

Double Fail

Those radio people were making fun of the Indiana program and it rubbed Wilson the wrong way. He may not have handled it in the best way but he stuck up for the program. Wilson said earlier this year that several assistants had offer to go elsewhere for more money but refused and stayed. Would have been a good opportunity to get away from a horrible individual but they stayed. Maybe they stayed because they like what he is doing with the program and actually think he is an okay guy.

Minnesota. Hence the Tim Brewster name drop. Anyway, there is no hidden agenda here. We barely play each other. It just bugs me some of your fans think extending this coach is an acceptable short term solution when he typically will cost IU 1-2 games per season. Now this latest incident.

Sounds like you know why the confrontation occurred. Maybe you could fill us in on all the particulars. Maybe you should concentrate more on the positives of the game. We won and the defense played much better.

What in the world happened with you guys today. OT? Really?

I like your defense.
Offense is anemic. I think lack of a passing game and no Cobb will keep you out of 1st place in the West this season. Kill is very good.

Everything about the offense was atrocious 90% of the time today. Surprised we won. Defense has a chance to be really good. We won't win any style points. QB sucks for most of the game then drives the team on critical late game situations. Go figure.

So, you come here to berate our coach? Minnesota might have the same issues with Jerry Kill concerning his health issues. Are you addressing that in your forums? The biggest issue is, why do you even care about the Indiana University football program?

Not sure about your definition of berating or any parallels with Kill but the bottom line is it's a personal opinion and observations on KW specifically. Nothing against fans, players, or the program in general. I felt the need to post based on what I've read here and the most recent example of baffoonery and past history that indicates he costs IU wins. It truly boggles my mind fans would want to extend him, then this most recent incident. I understand he doesn't need to make friends but so many other ways to handle that situation. With Beckman's dismissal at IL I think Wilson is easily the worst HC in the B1G. I'll be shocked if he's coaching at IU in 2 years.

My DVD stopped recording right after the interception return but if I were a head coach, and my team had a seven point lead with 7 minutes to go and we gave the opponent the ball on their 37 yard line, I'd expect my defense to hold the opposing team on their half of the field. Sadly, we gave up thirty yards in penalties and allowed FIU to end up with a fourth and goal from the two. No coach should EVER be pleased with that type of defensive performance. If you think a head coach should be celebrating a single play that went his way when, if it had gone in favor of the opponent, may have cost the game, you're an idiot. Wilson was rightfully not happy that FIU crossed the 50. Had they not, the assistant might have received a high five or chest bump. With that said, please leave our board alone and go back in your gopher hole.

I just watched on YouTube. I don't think there is any issue. KW definetly fired up but it looks like he's telling him D not done. Needs to deliver. I have no issue. Go Hoosiers!!!!

Iu has had head football coach turnover since the beginning of time. Generally, it's because coaches don't win here. Please, go back in time and find an example of an IU football coach with a winning record. With that said, YOU may not like Wilson but you really don't say why. That is berating without due cause. Sometimes, personal opinions should be kept personal unless they can be backed up by fact.

Reading a fan board is zero reason to base an opinion. The "experts" here are as smart as on any other forum. Listen to Howard Griffith, Chuck Long and some of the other B1G network folks who believe IU is getting better. Our football growth may or may not be commensurate with the growth of other league teams but it is still growth.

I'm not calling for an extension nor am I calling for a termination. I'm looking forward to seeing how this team grows. It is currently 2-0 and has played two teams with a .500 record or better from last year. It's a start. Where it goes from here will determine Wilson's longevity.

Umm yes. Coaches bark at each other constantly.

A. I don't give two craps what a Minnesota fan thinks.

B. If anything, this makes me like Wilson more.

C. Inge was over celebrating. He's a good coach, but the game wasn't over.

D. We kept every single assistant from last year.

E. I'm not going to criticize my coach for sticking up for his team against two jackasses (hello Jack Trudeau) on the radio.

F. This thread is embarrassing.

G. 2-0

Dear God. Freaking Minnesota and PU ke fans coming here to stir shit where none exists. The "strange " media event with the former radio loudmouth and his drunken criminal sidekick was what made me like Wilson...he stood up for his team and this program when the media slap and the Colt QB turned public violent drunken embarrassment and one-man justification for funding Child Protective Services decided to be cute.

Your programs have their own issues. Three of IU s pre-conf opponents are better then PU so stick to your own issues.

Are you serious? Do you ever watch football? Coaches get hot with each other every weekend...some on camera, some not

With his own program being the smoldering dumpster fire it is, he is looking for something the cling to.

Well said. This thread is juvenile. If I have a complaint, it is that Wilson is too passive on the sidelines. We need more ass kicking and less back slapping if we are going to turn this around.

Minny foot ball fan giving IU football fan is like Britney Spears giving Lindsay Lohan life lessons.

I thought you wanted a civil conversation?

I don't think this qualifies as an incident.

I haven't seen the video...but from what I'm reading on these posts...most of you haven't been coached at the collegiate level.

Agree 100% with Pel.....KW needs to drink 8 ounces of habanero sauce or eat a snickers bar prior to the game. Not looking for Harbaugh-esk sideline antics but wish KW showed more emotion. If you will recall, the loudest cheer at MS came last year when KW was jawing big time with the ref after a call/no call. I was hoping for KW to pull a Norman Dale moment but he remained in the game. Can you imagine an IU football coach being ejected from the game for arguing a call or sticking up for his players. That's what I want to see in our program.....raw freakin emotion!

Dear God you guys are idiots. Yes, every week assistant coaches celebrate game changing plays and the head coaches rip their headsets off and rip them a new one live, on national tv for doing that... Yep.. see it every week..

You know what matters to me right now when it comes to the our head coach in regards to Purdue? That he's lead this program to keep that Old Oaken Bucket right where it should be for 2 years running and looks like there's a very good chance to keep it for a third. Good day sir.

I'm sure that is important to you. The difference it our time at the bottom is temporary. We recover, and will go on to compete at a higher level. When we are at the very bottom IU will get a couple of wins, congrats. Honestly, IU does have bigger things to worry about then their freaking weird coach. How about this; Big Ten is banning football subdivision teams. After going down to the wire against two of them. Where is IU going to get any wins in the future? Oh, where the bucket belongs? lol Whatever you say. Yeah, if IU won for the next 25 years or so they would even the series up and own it half the time. If you won for 25 straight years..lol

Yes...I've seen it several times...All the way from pee wee to the pros. In fact, Nick Saban got in the face of his Offensive Coordinator (Lane Kiffin) during a game last year.

Here's a quote....

"After a failed third down conversion and having to settle for a field goal, Saban has words for his offensive coordinator.....For a minute it looks like he could be talking to anybody but the look Kiffin's face at the end leads us to believe otherwise. You have to love Saban's passion."

And here's something that might blow your mind....It happens in other sports too!

Oh No! A coach yells!

Quit being a drama queen.

Huh? We had 440 yards of total offense, ran for over 200 and ran 80 plays. What is wrong with that? FIU is atop 40 defense that just held UCF to 14,points. What do you guys want?

Your program is a dumpster fire and you are focused on IU. Got it.

I saw a few minutes of you game yesterday...enough to see that:

1. whomever is in charge of your uniforms needs to go back to shoveling shit in the hog barns

2. The crowd, which was huge by PU standards chants about IU A LOT

3. Your turf field will be a mess by the third game again this season. With as many farmers as you have on that god-forsaken campus you would think that someone there could grow grass. Give it up and get FieldTurf

4. Three of IUs pre-conf opponents are better than PU is, regardless of what conference level they play in.

Purdue may compete at a higher level but it will not be much higher. As pathetic of a division as the west is, you'll still be in the bottom or second to last in the conference and IIRC, your only win this season is a subdivision team. We're fortunate enough to be able to look forward to beating you again.

I wonder if this coach ever yelled at an assistant during a game?
