Just another “average” coach
Florida was absolutely garbage when he took overJust another “average” coach
Better than average todayJust another “average” coach
Does Auburn keep #1 if Duke loses?Gators are embarrassing Auburn
Well they dismissed it because they said it did not fall under title 9, but they said nothing to the veracity of the claims. The complaints were dismissed by the school. He is obviously a good coach by results and observation. However the accusations are extremely serious and by multiple sources.
That is my understanding as well.Well they dismissed it because they said it did not fall under title 9, but they said nothing to the veracity of the claims.
How about because he's never won an NCAA tournament game?Just another “average” coach
I don't think there is any argument for this Golden guy ahead of Dusty May. I'm listening if anyone thinks they can make that case.
And his players will be at least passably smart to get admitted there. You're probably right. He's in sunny FL. He's in the best league. He's at a title winning school. And he has a top 5 team already. Zero reason to go to IU.
As for May, the ONLY reason to come to IU is it's his alma mater. UM gives him everything he needs to win.
Not clean enough for the puritan crowd.Buyout too big? Baggage from harassment allegations?
IU’s famous “baggage” problem.Buyout too big? Baggage from harassment allegations?
We are the Stanford of the Midwest. Not clean enough for the puritan crowd.
Didnt he cheat on a test in middle school as well?We are the Stanford of the Midwest.
OK, going all in on Todd Golden. OK. Let's see if you're right in a few years. I can't imagine having 3 1500 point scorers on the same team has anything to so with their success. You're probably right. He's in sunny FL. He's in the best league. He's at a title winning school. As we know Dusty is now off the list, but since his contract extension, has 3 losses in last 5 games. Only wins by a combined 5 points vs Rutgers and Nebraska.I don't think there is any argument for this Golden guy ahead of Dusty May. I'm listening if anyone thinks they can make that case.
He would kill it here. Super high energy. My number one pick at this point. As we know Dusty is now off the list, but since his contract extension, has 3 losses in last 5 games. Only wins by a combined 5 points vs Rutgers and Nebraska.
Meanwhile, Florida and Golden about to win at Bama. Already won at Auburn last month. Might have the most well rounded offense in the country. And a great offensive rebounding team. They should be a 1 seed now. Unlikely FL lets him get away though.
Maybe. He may keep the momentum or he may not. Waiting til the tourney starts is a good idea for coaching searches.Well, he probably would be pretty good here, especially with your point of getting top scorers to set aside egos to work together to win. He has proven that at FL.
But, like I said, I doubt he wants to leave UF. Too many positives to leave.
So you like McCasland over Golden?Maybe. He may keep the momentum or he may not. Waiting til the tourney starts is a good idea for coaching searches.
I don't have anything against Golden I just see it as a great singular season and he may not be able to sustain it. Not sure. He has really high scoring players this year.
As far as why Indiana? Because Indiana will be paying probably $6 million/yr to be nationally competitive.
Not every coach will want to leave for money, but some good ones will. It's a question of how big a gamble IU wants to go.
I see Scott Drew as likely to stay where he is. He's been there 22 years and has a National Championship. And he makes a ton of money already. I'd be surprised if he'd want to go to Bloomington.
But I would not be surprised if Grant McCasland or Chris Beard wanted to go to Bloomington.

Scott's already proven buyouts aren't a problem. Hopefully he's taking a close look at Golden.I don't think McCasland will come. Texas guy. Beard would but I doubt he will be offered. Golden's buyout is really high, so he's out. Agree on Drew.
That leaves McCullom, Brownell, and Cronin. Maybe Otzel, but I think he stays. Unless there's a mystery coach.
He'd be very good here. Refresh my memory. What were his supposed transgressions?
Buyout too big? Baggage from harassment allegations?
Quite possibly. Depends on the Administration at Florida and how they feel about the "strength" of said allegations.Well, if the claims were true do you think he'd still be there?
Correct that is the number one criteria first and foremost. Pure as the driven snow. I saw beard take down tenn last night and we are going to pass on him even though he would come. Not clean enough for the puritan crowd.
There are $14 million reasons.Buyout too big? Baggage from harassment allegations?
