Why didn’t we foul during MD final possession?

On Marylands last possession how do you not foul there when things started breaking down? Just horrific coaching in the final minute.
How many reasons do you want that haven't already been said all year? For a refresher, start with coaching. Followed closely by general stupidity amongst the players otherwise known as low basketball IQ. Dig deeper into players not playing cohesively. Lack of on court leadership. Generally giving a shit. Do you need more reasons?

Ask Woodson.
Went for a run after the game and I thought what would be my question to woody post game? I came up with this:

“Mike when you got the ball with 4 seconds left and made a few substitutions to get shooters in there, you looked perplexed when Rice fired up a prayer in the corner. Have you ever practiced that situation, and if so, what was supposed to to actually happen there?

See the post immediately above this one.

We didn't because we're not a very bright team when it comes to the game of basketball. It also doesn't help that the staff doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground most of the time.

Would it have been legal to inbound the ball into the backcourt on that last play? (3.5 seconds is possibly enough to drive from out there)

Woodson says multiple times that we didn't give up the foul despite talking about it and the last play was Rice's fault for not coming off.

It’s always the players who don’t do what they’re supposed to do. Never ignorant coaching, play calling, or game plans. These players, I believe, would be a tough squad to beat with Beard, May, or my grandmother coaching them.

Inbound to backcourt, drive around pick and lob to Ballo for jam or foul. Or 10’ jumper if open.
You would not get a very good look from half court entry. By the time a player tries to dribble across mid court against pressure, the clock would run out.
Why not just call your best 2 out of bounds plays…one for zone, one for man to man?

That would be called coaching.
Something this team sorely lacks!

I didn’t say half court. I meant between 10 second line and the key.

It was a sh#!show the last 40 seconds, but several players have said they knew they were supposed to, it was talked about in the timeout, they just didn't do it.

Yes.

I've even seen inbounds plays from under the opposite basket to a fast guard that drives the length of the court for a layup in about that much time. All we needed was a foul for two FTs .

I knew IU was doomed as soon as they put Headband in there to inbound the ball. That guy is like putting a 6th man out there for the other team. If someone is going to screw something up during a crucial point in the game, it good ole Headband.

Twice in HS we ran this play with 5 seconds left and I drained 10’ to win. Ballo there for a lob or tip.

"Against pressure" as you say leads to a MD foul, which is good too.

I guess this all might have been for naught.... if the Officials would have called traveling on the MD Player that stumbled all the way across the lane prior to their 3 pointer they put up.

But I guess... the ref left it in the hands of the Players and Coaches... and clearly we didn't step up.
