At the end of last season I thought Woody’s two biggest challenges (assuming MR and MM returned) were to hit the portal for 1) improved guard play - scoring, playmaking, D, leadership, and 2) two proven shooters. Woody thought he answered the guard issue with Rice and Carlyle, but it’s clear that hasn’t panned out so IU is right back where it was last year with Gallo and Leal. Woody did get Goode, but it took Woody way too long to figure out how to maximize his play.
Great teams have great guard play and good shooters. As has been the case since Woody arrived, he’s never figured this out. Onward and upward to next season.
