Well he does have memes posted from national accounts of kicking people in the nuts with clown music in the background that got millions of views on social media. I call that a laughing stock, not sure how you could not…..
Because I'm not scouring social media looking for any shred that casts shade at Leal. I wish we were better and he didn't, but he helped make us competitive at the end of the year. I put that more on the coach and the other players. If everyone came in and played hard and smart, he'd not see the floor more than backup minutes or a few minutes a game. But, we have a bunch of guys who don't know what it means to commit effort on both ends of the floor throughout the game, which is why a flawed, average athlete like Leal really improved our level of play.
Don’t have to scour very far. He’s as dumb as some of our fans. How he could say we are one of the best teams in the country is just pure insanity.

For sure. I think the system matters but it doesn't matter that much. What I mean is I would rather have an average system taught exceptionally well rather than an exceptional system taught in an average way.

Was he asked about the free throws? What was the original question? Sounded like it was what he thought about their NCAA tournament chances? Talking about free throws would be odd. No?
Not odd at all, if they win the game they are for sure in. He missed the FTs that led to them not getting back in the game.
I do kind of like Cav's response on that one. Maybe even better "We should have worked harder all season so there wasn't a question about making the tournament. We hope the committee gives us a chance...." don't even make it about the last game or a couple of free throws. It's like when people blame bad officiating for a loss. You've got to play well enough that a few bad calls (which are inevitable) are not the difference maker. Play well enough that one win or loss is not a difference maker. I don't care that he missed two free throws; it happens. But for him it happens more than it should, and for the team they didn't play well in enough games to remove any questions of whether they are good enough to make the cut.
he also should be smart enough to know the tourney isn't the top 64 teams due to the auto-bids from the smaller conferences and tourney upsets. Past data shows once your net drops to 50 and lower, if you aren't an auto-bid, you've got some worrying to do.

What would you say to Hoosier supporters...ahead of selection Sunday? And you think he should have dove in to personal mistakes, and how they should have been better?
I agree its dumb, selection committees aren't watching Anthony Leal interviews...but his answer, with the intent of appealing to them, is how basically everyone would respond when they do still have a chance to make the tournament. When they miss it...then sure...lets see what he and others say. Some version of mea culpa, at that point, would be expected and normal.

Many fans have made the same mistakes for so long it has become the new IU basketball tradition. Now guards that can’t shoot a lick and banal coaches without any controversies are the tradition.
No problem to fantasize contrary to facts so long as you realize it’s just make believe (this is covered in Kindergarten). I do worry about a poster here that has made public her unhealthy sounding fantasies about Brad Pitt and Chris Beard and now about blanket death threats. Her increasingly violent fantasies may be a cry for help.

Honestly, I feel like they've been coached on what to say. Laughable that he mentions wanting fans to show up, and didn't toss in "real fans". I guess now just any old fan is OK if they're wearing red. Think it's a last ditch effort by the staff to try and influence the selection committee.
Mbacko is a catch and shoot guy. Nothing more. Too stiff, not athletic, and doesn’t play hard defensively.
This is true, but it’s also true with him on the floor you’re basically playing 4 on 5 on the offensive end.
His 3 pt shot wasn’t good in high school and unfortunately hasn’t improved here so a suspect catch and shoot guy thus far. He hit 32.7% from 3 last year and 32.9% this year. I had hoped his 3 pt shooting would improve over the summer but didn’t happen.
Think what his 3 point % would have been if he didn’t make a few circus shots at the buzzer. I’d argue that’s his best shot.
Now that I think about it, I’d bet money he practices those circus shots more than FTs. A lot of money. I’ve never seen him practice FTs. See him goofing around and taking those shots every single pregame tho.
