What y’all think, more time spent

Trying to do NIL deals or time spent in the gym practicing FTs for real deal? Effort was there tho, sure matters a lot!!!
Finishing just well enough to make and get eliminated in the playoffs was kind of his rep in the NBA too wasn't it? Consistent. Basically who we hired.

My thoughts are that Mbako could really elevate this team if he was stronger. His defense is better, but he still gets bullied in the paint and can’t rebound well. On offense, he has skills but gets bumped off his spots and can’t score in the paint. So he is very 1 dimensional. I’d like to see him come back with 12 to 15 more lbs.
And other than gallo, all of the wings and guards got bullied.

Nah. Clean slate time. Not a single one of them should ever wear that uniform again.

MM not anywhere near where I think he could be, but he rebounded better and defended better. His shooting and defense was still just so-so, but it at least wasn't bad. Maybe not next year, but in 2, with a quality coach MM will be a beast.

You have a very unhealthy dislike for Leal

I have a problem with stupidity. I also really like to let people know they are stupid when the results smack them in the face and they can’t argue. You know like missing critical one and one FTs because you can’t shoot. Leal is not a good basketball player and when you play him 35 mins you are gonna have this happen. On the other hand, when you play Tamar you get an mvp performance, unreal shooting, and a win against a tourney team.

Everything I had been preaching happened yesterday against the person I said was good and the person I said was bad. Ya, you’re gonna hear about it…..

To me Tamar’s shot mechanics look so much better since he transferred.

Leal falls into that category-Guards with shooting issues that many IU fans adore (see Cupps).

Now that I think about it his shot at IU resembled Calberts shot but that shot wasn’t suitable for Tamar.

Many on here will want the next coach to retain Gabe…..

they won't but that won't stop your narrative. Don't stop, here's what you meant to say: "Many on here will want the next coach to retain Gabe because he's white" Right?

You're just wrong about Leal. We've always known he was flawed and his FT shooting is inexplicable, but it's can't be argued that we played better and won more when Leal started playing more. I agree we would have been better playing Rice, Galloway and Carlyle more, if we had a different coach that was able to get more out of them and the team as a whole. But bringing in Leal got the team more connected and playing better D and rebounding better; just overall effort. For where we were in the season, Leal made us better.

Leal would have been better suited at a MAC or MVC school.
He's not a high level Big Ten player.
Sorry I want much better athletes than him..Actually the whole team needs a upgrade..Indiana would have been embarrassed in SEC this yr..imo

once again. Indiana went 7-7 when Leal played 20 plus minutes. His effort is all an illusion. You can still play good defense and score. That Bamba kid from Oregon actually was on the all defensive big ten team. Not some made up team our fan base was acting like Leal got robbed from. Bamba still averaged 10 per game while playing great defense. Not to mention how Bamba took Leal straight to the hoop and backed him down before putting in a layup right over Leal’s head. Our fans are blinded by his effort. Can’t win with him and I’m glad he’s gone.

Just a more damning assessment of CMW’s “accomplishments” here. Highest paid mercenary barely sniffs the floor in the 2nd half because he was bringing nothing. 5 star freshman hasn’t played for weeks. Another PAC mercenary looks like he couldn’t play for Manchester. And the guy who should be the team cheerleader becomes part of his most efficient lineup. Leal ain’t the problem

Really! WTF you been watching all year? You seriously think Leal is the only one missing critical free throws? Get your head out of your ass.

If Leal were an elephant.....we would be debating whether or not his tail is too short. He's the least of the problems with this team and program.

Leal isn’t white. Goode is white. I said Goode was our best player. Tell me why I hate cups because he is white? White players are normally worse at bball but not sure where you got that from me hating on Leal, whose dad is black.

Tamar disnt miss any critical ones (or miss them ever frankly), I was told he shouldn’t play.

Imho, @Cavanagh enjoys a little banter and he enjoys digging in on his pov, as he’s a tad stubborn.

With Leal, to me, there isn’t much to argue about. Pre-season it was widely thought that IU had made MAJOR upgrades to their guards. Most people thought that if IU was going to be as good as everyone thought, that Leal would be contributing from the bench.

He’s playing because he gives a better chance to win. And this is because our team has VASTLY underperformed expectations. Especially at the guard position.

Oh, goodie......the race angle. I was afraid we wouldn't get to debate that one. When that one is done...I think we should move on to debating whether or not the Indian in the Village People was really gay or not. That puzzle hasn't been solved either.

Goode*. And he’s white. Not much to debate.

Actually, Leal is a reflection of the program. He seems like a good young man , minus the “chill” and “run in back” comments. However , if people really think he is a top player, they have not watched college hoops this year. There are teams who would smoke us 9/10 times. IU likes to claim “blue blood” status , exceptional resources, etc. but the coaches and players they put on the floor would demonstrate otherwise.

I know that, but Leal is largely viewed as a "white player": not athletic, from IN, good shooter (never believed that, but that's his "rep"), and gets by on his smarts and savy. You've countered his treatment with that of XJ and tried to play it as a race thing.

More time spent creating a team and less just throwing money at guys. Have a vision and system and recruit to it.

Ant Wright was on Assembly Call yesterday and had some words for your HH buddies you'll enjoy. You know, the non-athletic IU guys who you're right about! Comes in around 48 minutes. Good listen.

Listened last night, Jarrod was not happy with the F bombs. And yes, the hysterics are total F sticks for doing that, I said the exact same thing when it happened.

Did you hear when he blasted Leal? He was a supporter, but then was like ya mannnnn can’t miss those both.

The criticism of his free throw shooting is 100% valid, and warranted. He's older, his rep is to be a clutch player, and while he IS NOT a knock down shooter, and evidently hasn't been since his sophomore year in high school...he has largely been a clutch player and shooter. So how poor he's been with his free throws, in important times, is frustrating.

I shouldn't have to give the but on this...but... that doesn't mean he isn't a good, and effective basketball player. Obviously. He's one of the best defensive and rebounding guards in the Big Ten. That alone, with better coaching, and more consistent players around him, would completely change most peoples view of him, I'm sure. But that isn't Leal's "fault"...also obviously.

My kids are saying "bruh" and "chill" so I decided to bring back "PSYCH!!!!"

"kids, get your clothes ready for school tomorrow! (on Sat night)"

"PSYCH!!!!!!!!!"

They love it.

And, boy, let me tell you - the wife is really digging it.

I can’t think of a more unlikeable player than Starks…except for Dickinson… and maybe Artest ..and of course Laimbeer

I heard him, but I doubt you did. Praised Leal overall, but yes, you can't miss those FTs, as he said. No excuse for Leal not flirting with 80%. He's been mind-f*cked too, whether his own doing or the staffs. I'll choose to blame the staff mostly, because we've had so many players like that.

I just liked his overall praise of the IU fanbase. They should be lauded for continuing to support these teams, not criticized for caring.
