Perhaps, but my non player/coach point of view, felt it was bad perimeter shooting. We could not even bluff a shot attempt
Points off turnovers and free throws hurt worse.
I'm telling you, a nut punch is a thing. I've seen it enough to know some guys do it as a tactic. It's not OK and it's not Indiana basketball but there are guys who do this, probably as retribution when they feel like somebody's playing them extra physical. Believe Dee Brown back in the day did it and some punk guard in the ACC... maybe a UVA player?

I think a lot of bball players don't wear cups and just wear jock straps or compression type shorts. I don't think many bball players wore cups when I was in high school, just jocks.

Why? X is a headcase and Rutgers' coach recruits assholes and promotes hacking .. perfect storm of events.

I have avoided these forums in anger since the last game. I grew up and played in an era where physical play was the norm and expected. I have also been an advocate of X and his previous infractions as relatively minor and deserving of additional chances. What he did last game with the knowledge that this isn’t the first time he has hit/grabbed/fondled someone below the belt is inexcusable.
Despite the fact that I think it will, would cost us 3-4 games this year, I would remove him from the team. You just can’t do that. At a minimum he should no longer be a captain and serve a multiple game suspension.
I love Woody but if this goes unpunished it would do irreparable damage to his reputation in my eyes. Sad that X has put himself, this team, this coach, and this university in this situation.
And for what it’s worth, one of the replays I saw showed X pulling his hand away with shorts gripped in his hand so it appears to me he hit, grabbed or attempted to grab, and pulled at that dude’s junk. If that happened on any court I have ever played on he 100% catches a beat down, likely from members of his own team.

Yep, it's just sad. I trust the coach, but what you said is how I feel: minimum stripped of captaincy and some sort of suspension, but I'm fine with kicking him off the team. I have felt for a couple games that we weren't going to make the tournament and our only hope is to put together a more consistent team and make a run to win the B10 tourney (because we've always had such good success there!), and I think that's as likely to happen with or without X, and that shouldn't factor into the decision anyway. The bottom line is we don't have adequate guard depth and that falls on CMW too.
Let’s take a step back, and look at in the eyes of it still being the offseason.
X was always a risk to miss time:
1. From an injury
2. From doing something like this. I’ve felt this way since he came on board. I’ve always been apprehensive, and wondering if he wouldn’t do something on the court to warrant a multi game suspension. Frankly, I was always worried about a skirmish / something that comes to blows. But, this was dirty and plain weird.
Thanks. Never looked it up how to determine official possessions. I keep it simple and under either calculation method, official or not, it was horrid.

I'm glad many on here have such moral standards,like trump followers who vote for a man who was accuse of rape and abusing 22 women. X is and were wrong and I believe a 1 game suspension would be warranted. He is still part of the team. I do not know about his background. I do know when you have everyone against you even you will flounder or it will make you stronger. That will count for Coach Woodson too. We still have time to get things right and for X TO right the ship. Its a lot of pressure on the young man playing for IU and its rabid fan base where everyone seems to know better than the coach. Im pulling for CMW and the team. I hope they come together as a team starting with Minnasota. I m pulling for them to make the NCAA's and CMW to right the ship.
He is an idiot. He always talks big, like he's a leader and has learned so much and will be better. But nothing ever changes. Plays the same way, TOs, fouls, etc. Just can't be counted on.

And sorry. X isn't any kind of victim here. He's a 24 year old MAN who nut-punched a player on the other team. He rightfully got kicked out of the game because he got caught.
What he did isn't the end of the world, but let's not try to make him some kind of martyr or victim.
