Even though he played well in the tournament, I seriously doubt if he will ever win another Major. The reason is there are too many outstanding young golfers. The odds of all of them not playing well in a Major are slim and none. Meanwhile, Tiger will be 43 when he plays in The Masters next year.

So tired of all the Tiger hype from the media. This isn't 2000 anymore. The guys a has-been.
If you finish 2nd in a major, you’re def not a has been. With that said, yes he does get an extreme amount of coverage. I would have loved to have seen Finau’s 6 straight birdies followed by a triple. Golf coverage sucks here.

As someone who has had 4 back surgerys. It's impressive what he is doing.

In a few years time, if he wins another major, it would make for a great movie. Poor minority kid makes it as expected until he gets caught; so throw in a bit of porn/nudity or maybe a lot and then the rehab and finally a green jacket, against all odds.

For the man who always said second stinks, this time it didn't

Even without the victory, Tiger Woods delivered the victory fist pump on the 72nd hole. It was a hard right too, a punch packed with the kind of mean intentions thrown by an old heavyweight from St. Louis by the name of Sonny Liston. Tiger Woods finally said the hell with it Sunday, the hell with an entire career spent hating on second place.

Woods was going to celebrate a loss for once in his glorious sporting life. He made that 19-foot birdie putt that he knew in his heart wouldn't topple Brooks Koepka, and then Tiger responded at Bellerive as if he had just won his fifth green jacket at Augusta National.

Jack Nicklaus finished second nineteen times in major tourneys. I think this is the seventh times Woods has come in second. It's hard to win any tourney, especially a major. What he did in the past is remarkable. What he accomplished in this PGA was too.

Regarding the age thing. Jack won at age 46, Floyd at 43, Irwin at 45...Watson was 59 when he should have won British Open in 2009. Age won't be the reason Tiger may or may not win another major. The reason he won't win (if you believe that) is because every week there's about 25 guys who can win. I mean Rory has gone four seasons without another major.

It's funny how blind so many folks Tiger-hate makes them. The guy was essentially out of golf for a year, and struggled for many years before that. Now he's competed at the top in the last 2 majors and yesterday bested all the up and coming young guys you reference, but one. He had a ton of opportunities on the back nine Saturday that he missed and that shitty bogey, double-bogey start Thursday or he could easily have had a major yesterday. You're right, the landscape's different and he's not going to intimidate the entire field and golf world like he used to but I don't see how you can look at his progression this year and think he won't ever win another major. It's coming and with his history, next April in Augusta may well be it. I don't like the guy, but he's good for golf and I love a good comeback story. Tip of the hat to him and I hope he does it. Will be immensely good for golf, and if you're a golfer, you should hope like hell that it happens.

I'm glad I watched the whole thing yesterday, because I learned something.

All those shots from the deep rough along the fairway of the hole next to the one I'm playing after slicing my tee shot 70 yards off course . . . what have I been thinking trying to hit a 5 iron from 185 yards to up close to the green when I should've been hitting a 9 iron over the damned tree line to within 12 feet of the hole.

BTW, MrsSope remarked how all these young guys are in much better shape then the golfers were when her dad was watching the tour on TV . . . she doesn't know a damned thing about golf, but I'm finding no resistance when I turn the tournaments on Sunday afternoons, and she sure is sticking around to watch too.

So, she's got the hots for Koepka?

you need to look at his finishes this season before you claim he's a has-been. what he's done this year, especially after what he's been through physically, is pretty amazing.

had he found the fairway yesterday, he would have won by 2-3 strokes.

I apologize, but I can't stand Tiger. He has not been a good role model for his children or other kids interested in golf because his language has been awful over the years when he has hit bad shots. I can understand cussing if it's just a bunch of guys and nobody else can hear them, but it shouldn't happen in front of galleries with a bunch of kids in them.

Have you noticed Tiger has been penalized several times after a round in past years? Do you really think he didn't know the rules or was he cheating? I think he was cheating just like he cheated on his wife hundreds of times.

Hopefully, you realize why Tiger has so many joint problems. It is because he and ARod went to Canada numerous times and got Peds from the doctor, who now has lost his license. Once again, that is cheating because it is against the rules to use Peds if you're on the PGA Tour.

Do you remember his former caddie (Steve)? Tiger used to allow him to break wind like a maniac in front of the galleries. In my opinion, Tiger should have told him not to do it and then fired him if he continued to do so.

Do you remember when Fuzzy Zoeller made a racist joke after Tiger won the Masters that one year? I'll be the first to admit it was in very poor taste. When Fuzzy tried to reach out to Tiger and apologize to him, however, Tiger refused to accept his phone calls. As a result, Fuzzy lost most--if not all--of his endorsements.

In my opinion, rooting for Tiger is just like being a University of Kentucky basketball fan. If IU cheated like Kentucky in basketball, I would not be a fan of the Hoosiers. I take the same approach towards Tiger.

So why start your response apologizing, and then spend the whole post arguing why you don't like him. No apology necessary, I already said I don't like him personally.

Cussing in front of kids... really? He's an f'ing athlete, not a priest. Athletes aren't role models and that's the first thing I'd tell my kids.

Do I know why he's had so many joint problems? Nope, and neither do you. Could be steroids, or it could be that he recoils and unloads like an of control windmill every time he hits the ball and he's done that hundreds of thousands or millions of times... or it could be somewhere in between.

Breaking wind? Ummm, he's a grown ass man. His caddy, who works for him, doesn't allow him to do it. Breaking wind like a maniac, I'd like to see. And, btw, I've seen Tiger probably 2 dozen times in person at tournaments and have never seen him curse or break wind like a maniac.

If Fuzzy lost endorsement deals it's because of what he said, not because Tiger wouldn't take his calls. Careful, you're starting to make randyjenkins seem reasonable.

I am guessing that you can't stand a certain Bobby Knight for those very same reasons?

I don't post often. Cheer for your type of posts from distance....but anyone who can't cheer or enjoy what Tiger Woods has done must live in a pretty small glass house. Cussing, off the course,etc...just shade to take away probably from a deeper issue for the hate.

He's the greatest of all time. He should get 20% of the take every person associated with golf...not just the players, but the caddies, the course pro at your local muni track...anyone and everyone associated with golf. The game we love has grown exponentially over the last 20 because of 1 guy. Only 1 guy.

In terms of his play now. He couldn't walk this time last year. Not complimenting or cheering for that type of recovery story isn't a slam on Tiger...it's a slam on the other 99% of the golfers not named Brooks. It isn't supposed to be this easy.

Of course just my 2 cents. I don't sit here and throw stones at (for example) Mickelson's gambling problem, his run ins with the SEC for insider trading,etc...the reason why I don't throw stones. These guys are still human.

I sure as hell didn't see him playing that well.
He damn near won.
What little I saw was encouraging for him barring injury. He managed to birdie many of the holes he failed to land in the fairway off the tee.

I only follow golf if one of two local players are still playing on Sunday or if Tiger is in contention. Like him or not, golf needs Tiger to play well

Let's compare this to Major League Baseball. I was a huge Willie Mays fan and he was a great role model for his fans. Once Mays retired, I became a Bobby Bonds fan. He wasn't quite as good of a role model as Mays, but I still liked him. Barry Bonds, Bobby's son, eventually became my favorite player and I thoroughly enjoyed watching him hit many of his 73 homers that year. Once I discovered he was using Peds, however, I no longer liked or respected him.

By the way, I didn't say Tiger broke wind a lot. I was talking about his former caddie. His name was Steve. Tiger did accidentally do it during a shot on television just like I did once during my approach shot on a tough par 4 hole. Three of my golf buddies heard it and laughed their heads off. At least the 160-yard shot didn't stink. I had a 3-foot birdie putt and easily made it for a skin.

love him or hate him, he draws crowds and makes the PGA tour relevant and also very rich. He's not going anywhere, so get used to it in every event he plays in. His play this weekend brought back the PGA events of the past. EVERYONE was buzzing.

And I don't think he's a has been at all. Has beens are like Phil Mickleson who don't make cuts......Tiger finished 2nd and he's going to win one soon, like him or not.

I never could stand Barry Bonds, going back to his Pirates days in the early 90s. He always was, and still is, an arrogant jackass, and he is my least favorite baseball player of all time. His PED use is just icing on the cake.

This should make Cap happy too.

Brooks lives down the street from me. I saw his girlfriend walking the dog Monday afternoon. I think she is cute, but I would think Koepka could (and will) do better. She also seems to have a bit of the "attention whore" trait. On a side note, for Halloween Brooks' mom sat in the driveway and gave candy to the kids and beer to interested parents. That's when I became a Brooks Koepka fan

The dude is a Terminator on Sundays.
He goes bogey-bogey to sorta open the door, then birdie-birdie-birdie to say “nope, just teasing”, then birdie-birdie to twist the knife.

He ain’t afraid of no ghosts.

never know when you'll need that extra boost to clear the water, and a good fart on the downswing right before impact has to be good for an extra few yrds of carry.

i can see farting on the downswing becoming the golf equivalent of the female tennis players who grunt on every swing.

Again, they're athletes. Why anyone would have the expectation they should be role models is ludicrous. They have no specialized training, or accomplishments to warrant that. In fact, quite the opposite, many have been pampered and catered to because of their talent... not the best recipe for character development. Sure there are tons of good guys, but you're hoping they'll be who you want them to be... who you think you would be... ain't how it works with people. Appreciate them for their athletic talents, but tell your kids to be selective or look elsewhere for role models. They're as flawed, if not more so, than everyone else.

You don't like Tiger, but you are a Barry Bonds fan??? Huh?

Bonds was a cheating fake his whole career. It's surprising that a writer of ethics who even consider liking a cheater in any sport. Tiger may have been a horrible husband, but he's not a horrible golfer. Far as I can tell Barry Bonds not only lied his butt off constantly, but without roids, he's a below average ball player too.

Most of the members of the media also think Hank Aaron used steroids late in his career. Of course, I never was an Aaron fan because Willie Mays was my favorite player.
