Well it was nice while it lasted.

I work near the stadium. The other day they were blasting crowd noise over the PA, I thought WTF is that about but maybe it was practice with noise to prepare for it. Guess they weren't as prepared as they needed to be.

For a moment I thought maybe that might be the better option in this game. Frankly, I just think if we had had a veteran duel threat QB, instead of Rourke, that would make us less vulnerable on offense. OSU and Michigan made us look one dimensional and the defense won the Michigan game and would’ve given us a punchers chance in this one if our special teams hadn’t made mistakes. Right now we have a playoff level defense, but not offense.
How ‘bout just running the ball more, even down 21-7? When IU ran the ball, they at least weren’t losing big chunks of yards like on sacks of KR, giving us no chance. Getting 3-5 yards per carry > negative sack yards. Between Rourke’s sack yards and Evans’ minus 20 or so, that had to be at least minus 50, right?

Even with that poor protection, if Evans catches the snap at end of first half, then doesn’t have a shitty punt to start the 2nd half with shitty coverage for a return Td, it’s a 14-7 game. IU could then run the ball. IU D has played well. Only gave up 14 so far. Way to go punt team!!
What pisses me off is that our offensive coaches did not seem to try any trickery whatsoever. The formations seemed routine and predictable. Our play-calling looked like they were content to just beat their heads against the wall.

Shouldn't we have tried some run/pass options or even simple rollouts?

I had to take my kid to hockey midway through 3Q.

Did we finally start keeping TE or RBs in to block on passing downs? When I was watching, we kept sending the backs out and we were getting overwhelmed. I couldn't figure out why they wouldn't just have 3 WR run patterns and try some double moves on #1 to get some more PIs or get Sarratt more into the game.

I noticed on a couple sacks, they would stunt with their end and tackle and then bring their backer, which would confuse our line/help and Rourke would have no time.

Other times, it was just plain old speed. Our tackles at times just looked slow, which wasn't good.

That's the best line we'll play all year long. They've got some dawgs.

We had better solve our OL being outnumbered before the Bucket game because PU will mimic what Michigan & OSU have done.

I understand your concern Hornet but Purdue cannot possibly mimic anything MICH or OSU does with that team they have this year. I'll be back to eat crow if it happens but this will not be like bucket games of old. IU is far too fundamentally sound to fall for any trickery or gimmicks the 2024 toiletmakers can put on the field.

Ohio State only had 316 yards of offense. The defense wasn’t the problem.

And a Game Note:

On that last big run by Henderson our LB, Fisher, was being Held in a big way, so much so that he was literally nearly lifted off his feet...

Now that had zero to do with the games outcome or the spread so it probably was just a "missed" call; in which case, that particular Ref needs to move up his eye exam to mid next week...
