I’m just looked and after tornadoes last night, AR is expected to have several the next few days. Why would you want to live in that state?

I’ve always wondered what is the safest state to live in? It’s pretty hard to avoid natural disasters. I mean you live on the east coast you’ve got Hurricanes, Tornados in the south and Midwest. Drought, fires and earthquakes and mudslides out west. Where we going? Idaho?

Maine

I always look at tornado risk as high impact but very low probability. Sirens go off in my county at least once per year, but only one close call in the last 30 to my house.

I've been tempted to buy a condo in the Gulf Coast for retirement but can't pull the trigger. The hurricane risk just seems too high. Matter of when, not if. Same with flooding in the Appalachian area.

Office not gone. Back to work. However, you can clearly trace the tornado line right through Carmel. Luckily it might sniff the ass of an EF1 but probably more EF0. Thankfully.
Scary shit. People don’t realize fla has tons of tornados too and no basements. At least in the Midwest you feel like you have a chance

Guessing you haven't been to Gnaw Bone?

Well looks in the clear now. Had one hit town with the storms in March.

Last May had one pass over my house and touchdown for a minute. So they've been getting close.

S. Silence

How did you and yours fare last night?

Well I hope...

We moved from Speedway about 13 years ago at this point. Loved Speedway, but the schools aren’t good and the area is going to shit anywhere north of the track.

Lotta former NC folks in HamCo these days. The flight continues (not even all white anymore)
Most of the Jewish families that used to live in the north part of Marion have moved to West Carmel.

Let me tell you. And it made me better understand Bill.

It was 1998. I'm fresh outta college and it's summer. My father was a HUGE Kennedy assassination buff. Honestly, probably as knowledge as anybody that didn't write a book. I had my head measured to put against the autopsy shit. My dad really was born about 40 years too early. He'd have been a helluva internet conspiracy nut.

Anywho, so the 35th anniversary of the assassination comes around and my father and my uncle decide they wanna hit up some conference thing down in Dallas. Me, I'm game b/c I'm early 20's and looking for a good time and I'd never been to Dallas. LFG. So all three of us pile in a 1995 Honda Accord. We're all over 6'3" btw. We're driving down. I'm in the backseat. Illinois is boring. I fall asleep at some point.

I'm awakened by feeling of leaving the paved highway and, as confirmation, I see that we are indeed on a tarred road in the middle of bum**** Arkansas. The last sign I'd seen was for Hope, AR - 10 miles. I'm groggy and looking around wondering wtf if going on. Uncle says we need gas. Cool. Outta ****ing nowhere there's this really nice looking Casey's style gas station. We pull off.

Stop at pump, look over. Dead animal in the bed of a pickup truck. Bleeding. Christ.

I gotta piss so I go inside. Go to restroom. Need pop or something. Go to counter.......

AS GOD IS MY WITNESS, SHE WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN I'VE EVER SEEN IN PERSON IN MY ENTIRE LIFE (until about 1 year ago, but that 25 year run is gonna be Ripken-esque). I was dumbfounded with my chin on the floor. Perfect 10. Kate Moss was dog ass ugly next to her. Crazy. Crazy. I couldn't speak. She could have asked for $100 and i'd have asked her how she wanted it.

This goes on for 10 seconds, then this fat, slobbish hillbilly Cleetus looking mother****er comes out and plants a hand on her ass. This was apparnetly her boyfriend based on their discussion.

**** that dude.

If you had a stone walled, steel roofed cabin with extremely trimmed back forest and undergrowth perimeter (bordered on one side by a lake and another side by a stream [below your hill top site]...); I would think Idaho would be semi-safe...

It's getting to the point where it's going to end up being written into the building code to either have a partial basement and/or some type of F-5 proof, below grade, type of safe room with an entry from inside the home..., here in Indiana...

So long as my insurance rates don’t go up to insure the A-holes in Florida can still live by the water.

You know there are times that being tall sucks. I mean, not as many as being short but still:

Low Ceiling Fans
Small Cars
Being over 42 y/o
People assuming you're good at basketball
Helicoptor Blades
More likley to get hit in crossfire
Higher cancer risk (no shit)**

Again, issues. Clearly.

Yeah it's tough...

Most of us down here in Center Grove are 6'5"+ and really have to be careful when boarding our personal helicopters (especially when we're approaching from the slightly downhill side).., 😎

The worst part of the aftermath of the storms last night is having to clean up all those loose $100 bills spread out all over the back 10 acres... The help is on it though... We're letting them keep 1% of what they find...😉

🍺🇺🇸😎

It's a small thing, but at work I no longer bend over and pick up a dropped pen. Kick it under something and go find a new one.

Great. According to the article I'm 5% more likely to get colon cancer. Add that to family history no mailing a turd for testing for me.
