I’ll be honest, I don’t get all the sh!t bsmitty gets from this board. I guess it’s from him being pretty adamant that Sisley was Purdue bound. Obviously he crashed and burned on that one, but hey, all the signs were there. And we all miss sometimes.I’m not a Purdue fan..good lord. I got bad info on Sisley, I was told he was a silent commit to painter. Who told me is typically very in the “know”.I’ll be honest, I don’t get all the sh!t bsmitty gets from this board. Other than that, dudes been pretty spot on. Woodson was a terrible hire. We’re are a very poorly coached team. And there’s other teams that are way better coached, that actually won with less talent than we have.
Dudes called all that out. And I do remember when some of us were cheerleading the Woodson hire, dude was like ‘why’ ?
His love affair with purdoo and pork chop is just so...unnatural.Actually, I'm not sure whom BSmitty follows these days. He's been around forever.
Is this so unrealistic?

That would be a 11-9 B10 record. It doesn't require us to play any better than the last two games.
I don’t have a love affair of anything PU. Like I said, I respect how they are coached and how Painter is doing it. He is also doing it with Mainly Indiana kids. As a fan of Indiana high school basketball, I enjoy seeing the Indiana kids have success. I hope they lose every game they play to be honest but that’s not the reality of how things have changed between IU and PUHis love affair with purdoo and pork chop is just so...unnatural.
Why any IU fan holds that school up as a beacon of hope and inspiration is beyond me.
I assume I'm not the only one tired of hearing it, since I'm not the only one blowing him shit.
Purdue can rot in a million hells with the fury of a million suns, but they are light years from us.His love affair with purdoo and pork chop is just so...unnatural.

I understand. I'm just tired of hearing about how good they are in every third post of his.Purdue can rot in a million hells with the fury of a million suns, but they are light years from us.
They have a real coach. He’s paid his dues. He’s a stand up guy. He recruits to his system. ‘Get old, stay old.’
In no way am I comparing Painter to RMK, but if RMK was doing it today, this would be his route.
Painter finished dead last with the Ronnie and Terone years. Then completely changed his strategy. He’s adapted. He wins and he’s done it with no shame.
His success is becoming Bo Ryan like.
His tournament success and failures are pretty steady to any active coach, coaching now. And he’s probably got another 10 or so years in him.
Grrrrrr….. I hate Purdue and Painter but damn… I’d trade…
I don’t think IU went cheap on Woodson. They went desperate. We offered Stevens a brinks truck and when he said no, we just tried to save face.I got bad info on Sisley, I was told he was a silent commit to painter. Who told me is typically very in the “know”.
Woody was a hire that made zero sense. Older basically washed out NBA coach. He would have never even got a sniff at any other high major program.
IU went cheap and easy and is paying the price.
I’m tired of watching how smart they are. They really aren’t that good. Just fundamentally sound.I understand. I'm just tired of hearing about how good they are in every third post of his.
Good enough to get to rd of 32.I’m tired of watching how smart they are. They really aren’t that good. Just fundamentally sound.
For me I was willing to give Woodson a chance because he was a great player here and played for RMK in his prime. I didn’t imagine he was a clone of Knight but thought he at least teach good fundamentals and demand effort and focus. The reality was completely unexpected to me.I’ll be honest, I don’t get all the sh!t bsmitty gets from this board. I guess it’s from him being pretty adamant that Sisley was Purdue bound. Same. Did my best to get behind it, but halfway through last year the writing was on wall. For me I was willing to give Woodson a chance because he was a great player here and played for RMK in his prime. Hiring a coach who has never coached in NCAA and is a buddy of BOT member and an ex player.Explain.
Hiring a coach who has never coached in NCAA and is a buddy of BOT member and an ex player.
6 year $3 million a year.
In comparison Dan Hurley is 6 year $50 million
However with our non-impressive non conference work, 11-9 is still very iffy for NCAA Tournament- our NET will be like 53 if what you say occurs does- me just give me 4 more losses- 10/10 is not what Woodson promised he could achieve with an opened check book.,Is this so unrealistic?

So like I said…cheap and easyWell, if the rumors are true and the Brinks truck was backed up for Stevens at some ridiculous number then the money was there.
The fact that Woodson "is a buddy of BOT member and an ex player.", I believe is the reason he was hired.
Fife and Matta being hired and IU "going cheap" was because Dolson was never on board with the hire.
Dolson didn't go cheap, he negotiated a contract based on Woodson's experience.
As the season wears in, it's looking more like Southern Cal was the best win.@ PSU? lol
South Carolina?
I have been on here since Mike Davis years dude. Yes I have not hid from being a ND football fan. Not one time…Romeo recruitment was a shit show…Adidas money thrown around, etc.Its not just Sisley. He isn't an IU fan. Roots for ND in football. Said Romeo wasn't coming to IU. Said we should hire Archie Miller. Routinely goes on game threads and declares games over in the first half.
Plus he has Purdue's resume and roster apparently memorized. He admitted last week he's just trolling people here.
So like I said…cheap and easy
The decision to hire and sign Woodson was cheap and easy. You literally described that with your answer.Cheap and easy like your answer?
If QB was behind the hire, SD had no choice but, IMO, he did his best to mitigate the situation.
It appears ONE person was behind the hire.
Would you have been happier if IU would have paid Woodson 8 mil a year?
Johnson ball did not work well for Painter that's for sure . Yeah, he definitely learned from it and formulated a plan that's made his program remain Keady like.Purdue can rot in a million hells with the fury of a million suns, but they are light years from us.

Low standards and low expectations.I know it’s results that matter most, but this team is close. We’ve lost close ones to very good teams in Maryland and Purdue. We beat a good (per the NET) team in OSU.
If we’d have closed out the last two, we’d comfortably be in the field.
Badgers aren’t great and they do lose games in their building. Win that one and then take care of business at home against Michigan and UCLA. This team can be a 6-7 seed in the NCAA. And then who knows. The talent is there to make a run b
So this was a long vetted out process and Iu went out and identified and paid top dollar for an established winner? Or did they give an average salary for BIg basketball coach who happened to be a legacy hire. Call it what you want but that was a cheap and easy hire for IU and it played out about as good as the hire was. So I’m not sure what you are arguing about.I did no such thing.
I said that one person was the reason for the hire. I guess if you think that being told who to hire is easy but I am confident that SD would not have made that hire.
At least SD compensated him accordingly but it had NOTHING to do with being cheap.
Jesus man. They tried to pay Brad Stevens 70 mil for 7 years. He said no. Dolson got told what to do and he paid for it what it was worth. IU will pay for someone who is worth the money. So this was a long vetted out process and Iu went out and identified and paid top dollar for an established winner? QB is the reason CMW is here. I don’t know what you don’t understand about it. IU isn’t cheap. They just proved it with the Cignetti contract.
It's like Chris Ballard. He has convinced a lot of people that it takes years to get a winner. He sells that it's a plan and people must be patient.Woodson just needs more time.Another poster called your outlook optimistic, I would call it delusional.

Not surprising from Woody’s big supporter.
And, we’re not close. We’re not good at all the little things that good teams do. In fact, we’re terrible at all the things that well-coached teams do. 20 turnovers is atrocious.
If I follow your double negative, you're saying you think we're close to being in the tournament? Maybe if the selection were today, but we've got another month of games, and not many wins likely.I’m not a huge Woody supporter. I’ve been very critical, but at the end of the day, you can’t deny that we’re not close to being on the NCAA tournament. At that point, it’s a crap shoot.
What? IU spent millions on this roster and the “hope” is just to possibly get in? Good lordI’m not a huge Woody supporter. I’ve been very critical, but at the end of the day, you can’t deny that we’re not close to being on the NCAA tournament. At that point, it’s a crap shoot.
IU turned the ball over 20 times against PU, the guards that played most of the game were Leal and Trey, and Woody literally said he was not able to call a time out before Rice went hero mode (not that he would have been able to dial anything up). I'm glad IU played hard, but IU is playing with one hand tied behind its back. This program needs a new coach, guards, and a modern approach before it will be worth a damn again.I’m not a huge Woody supporter. I’ve been very critical, but at the end of the day, you can’t deny that we’re not close to being on the NCAA tournament. At that point, it’s a crap shoot.
I think he means close to the hump.Close? To what? The edge of the cliff?
We've been right there next to it for 4 years. Just can't get over it.I think he means close to the hump.
