Wasn’t Pretty but a win at the barn

I have zero confidence this team will win again after tonight, and after this performance, who cares?

How do you continue to choke away 20 point leads?? Never seen a team do that as much as these kids. Doesn't give you any fuzzy feelings about Woodsons ability to guide a team. Glad I missed it again.

what do you mean? the tourney is right around the corner and we're supposedly "in" as of now. Beat Rutgers, lose in WL and win a game in the BTT and we get in.

Geesh, man. Can you tolerate yet another March w no tourney? I can't.

Great 30 minutes but a stinker towards the end. Good win at the barn
That was the most excruciating win I can recall watching in quite some time. I don’t know what it is with this team, but something is lacking to consistently not close things out. It’s weird.

I think they played well enough to win on the other team's court, even when the other team got hot, in a game both teams needed and wanted. I enjoyed and appreciated the effort.

I wish I could have your patience and nerves. That was awful. My son truthfully asked me why I was so uptight when the lead was cut to 22 with around 7 minutes. I told him when the lead got below 10, “this is why”.

We are not in, currently, actually. And playing like that, we won’t be in. Hope that helps clarify.

I have no choice but to tolerate it. Will be a few years away from a decade with no tournament appearances after this year’s miss.

I’ll be expecting that to stretch further, so long as the state of the program remains as-is.

One more win and they are in. IU sells a lot of seats.

Spot on. Minny had the best four minutes of their season and IU clamped down when they absolutely needed to. I'll take that win on the road.
Not saying this combatively, but that’s a nice spin.

I would argue it was IU’s worst four minutes of their season. Which is saying something.

Apparently, you do not care. But to answer your question, I CARE!

I will start caring when all of the team cares more than most of the diehard fans. Northwestern proved we are nowhere near approaching that moment.

I remember numerous IU games at the barn when Minn hit shots the entire game (similar to the way they did in the last 8 minutes tonight). There was a time it seemed IU just couldn't win up there; yes, even in the Knight years the barn was 40 minutes of hell. ANY win at Minn is a good win for IU.

Depends on which bracket you look at. One had us in, another did not have us in (or Rutgers) before the Minn game.

Minnesota suddenly gets on a roll and hit everything they throw up; we let up, miss free throws and end up winning by less points…geez, all we had to do was win and we did. The whole “bad win; Woody can’t lead; we are going nowhere” narrative is pathetic.
Fans are emotional on game day.

Similar to prevent defense in football, there is a game strategy to close out basketball games. The priorities change from scoring, ball pressure, and challenging shots to running the clock, taking care of the ball, and not fouling. We have been terrible at it all year starting the first game against Eastern Michigan. It’s symbolic of the immaturity of our guard play. It’s who we are at this point. All you can do is move onto Rutgers, and hope you have to deal with a lead again.

The Barn is a weird place.

What a surprise. Bitch about a win. Just waiting and wanting an L so you can bitch some more. GTFOH

I think you must have me confused with someone else lol.

Also, I’ll pass on the “GTFOH” offer.

I was going to ask if you could point out where I said I wanted an “L”, but I think people can sort out who said what for themselves. As for waiting for one? I won’t be waiting long, sadly. March 2nd.

I will say, attitudes like yours provably played a part in in this program’s demise. Accepting mediocrity for far too long.

Anyway, I’ll let you get back to popping the champagne for avoiding losing a 20+ point lead to a team with a losing record and an incomplete roster.

Beat Rutgers! That gets you to at least 10-10 in a tough League and 19 wins overall. I wouldn't guarantee that gets you in the big dance but it puts your odds at say 75 - 80 percent? If they beat Rutgers and win a B1G Tournament game that gets you to 20 wins. At that point I'd be completely comfortable.
But first things first Rutgers is a good team and they will be looking for one more win to solidify their spot. I hope the Hall is rockin' Wednesday.

I would like to blame it on Minny getting super lucky and all of the sudden shooting out their butts. But I think we contributed a lot to their big run. Just no ability to hold a lead. I agree really weird. I was not expecting to hold the 25 point lead all the way to the end but really....you almost choke it all away?! Another minute or 2 and we would have gotten another ridiculous choke loss. Is it too much to ask to win comfortably by 15 when you are up by 25 at the 8 minute mark? Apparently yes with this team. Not much confidence we can win any kind of close game, nor hold a lead short of 25 points.

I would suggest you are correct prior to the NW event.

Woody played the long game and that was a point of inflection.

You may very well be right, but they're going to have to prove it.

So far, this team strikes me as a group with very little maturity - both on and off the court. Does Woody know there are TOs in the college game?

The hall will indeed be rocking. Biggest game in 5 years.
