Was there any doubt Race would fall for Harper Jr.'s jab step and give him room for a 3? He's only their best shooter. At some point Race has got to get smarter.

To be fair, that’s a very difficult move to guard. Harper had been getting last Race most of the second half. Just a tough shot.

Everyone in the gym knew he wanted to shoot an outside jumper. Except Race.....
I actually thought he was gonna hesitate and go. Surprised me that he pulled up. He had beaten Race off the dribble a lot tonight.

He plays him tight then Harper just takes it to the hole and either converts or gets fouled. That is what stars do and we have none hence why we lose every close game because we have zero ability to make clutch plays.

Only gripe would be to make sure Race isn’t guarding their best player in that situation. But it was a scramble. He didn’t do a terrible job. Harper is just really good and clutch.

Either way, a bunch of 60% FT shooters go 6 for 6 down the stretch. IU has never hit 6 for 6 except in the first half of a game.

Progress to the mean… they were bound to hit a few after missing their first five or whatever it was.

TJD stepped up and hit his too. I don’t hate how the game ended. Just hate being up 7 with 9 to play…with their best defender on the bench…against a bubble level team…at home…and not having the nuts to step up and make enough winning plays.

I was surprised he put it up with time left in a tie game.

Gotta give him credit for knocking it down....not sure it was a smart shot.

I was with Race, I was expecting Harper to drive to the hoop.

Once again we cannot hold a lead or close a game. We just do not have the offensive firepower. No playmakers and incredibly our best players never seem to be able to make shots when we need them the most. Those two misses in the lane when we could have taken the lead with a minute to go is the story of our season.

Yep. And then the defense checking out with 10 minutes to go, yet again. I actually think that’s been the bigger story. We know we aren’t good offensively. But our defense can go stretches of being dominant. Yet around the 10 minute mark in the 2nd half, nearly every game, our guys seem to just forget how good we are defensively.

At some point, one would think he needs to graduate after he defends his dissertation

It was pretty much a foregone conclusion by then we weren't going to win. Our offense was in the crapper the whole second half once they switched to a zone. Hang this on Woodson and the staff.

He's hit that wide open 3 for 4 straight years. Let him drive.
Yep, then we lose by 2 instead of 3? That make you feel better?

It's why I worried about Race guarding Harper to begin with. He's not used to defending guys who can hit the 3 and put it on the floor. I thought Kopp was a better matchup because he's at least used to guarding on the perimeter, but then that left Race with an even bigger mismatch.

Agree. Harper is a difficult matchup for Race, but they play 4 guards so Race is on somebody and their other 3 guards are much much faster than Race.

Honestly for the last few years having our two best offensive players be back to the basket, undersized bigs has caused us issues. I love Race and TJD but I will be glad to get away from seeing that type of offense. In fairness to race and TJD though, our best shooters had open look after open look and couldn’t knock them down. If Stewart/Kopp go 7-16 instead of 3-16 there is nothing Harper can do to win that game.

Sorry all, just venting after another loss where they probably should have won. Our shooters couldn't shoot down the stretch, TJD can only score on a dunk or anything inside 2 feet, wide open 3's missed by everyone, etc.... I like this group but Woody defiantly needs to bring in some shooters and kids that can fill it up.

Couldn't agree more. Our 2 most positive offensive players are our 2 tenured bigs. The 2 most negative players are our 2 tenured bigs. Although Race still has not reached his ceiling but Trayce has. We're stronger if Race comes back vs. Trayce coming back.

Well, I'd had this discussion with an RU fan yesterday and said I thought they'd put Race on him, but that I believed Kopp might do better. On one of their first possessions, through a switch, Kopp ended up on him and he went right by Miller so I was like: "so much for that!"

My brother had seats on the floor's sidelines bleachers for the game and sent me a photo taken at the 17+ min. mark of the second half. Ironically, it was taken right at the moment Harper's fat ass was launching a three ball with Race in his face, albeit not close enough, from the same location as the final shot was taken. So it's not like Race hadn't seen it before and he should have known it was coming.

Hahaha that was me. I was thinking see this is why I said Rutgers fans would like to see Kopp on Harper when it happened

Then I thought Cliff's length and athleticism is not remotely stoping TJD. Man he came out strong first half
