Good for the local community I suppose, but aren't performing well at all at developing atmospheric hypersonic missiles. We have tried since the cold war and gave up, with all the research that we did belonging to the public domain, which of course Russian and China used.Kratos Defense has a $50 million project at Crane to test US hypersonic weapons.

Hurdles in the Hypersonic Race: The United States’ Failed ARRW Program
The U.S. hypersonic program is lagging behind those of its primary adversaries due to multiple factors. The cancellation of the ARRW hypersonic program sheds light on thisthediplomat.com
After spending billions on the ARRW missile, the senate finally had enough and the project was scrapped. Too many demands on that project from too many cooks. They wanted a missile to go faster than Mach 15 in the atmosphere. There's another hypersonic missile that we are developing--can't remember its full initials (HT something or other), that may be prosing at like mach 5 or 6.
Reminds me of the Commanche Helicopter--billions and billions of dollars to literally go nowhere until it was finally scrapped.
Will be anxious to see about the 6th gen fighter. They started development on it back in 2012 and billions already pumped into it: https://www.19fortyfive.com/2022/09/forget-the-f-35-what-exactly-is-a-6th-generation-fighter/
Japan skipped a 5th gen, and has been working like mad on their 6th gen figher: https://engineerine.com/mitsubishi-f-x-fighter-jet/

Never dealt with DOD- only COE, and they have been better to deal with in recent years. They run a tight ship on costs that is for sure. Getting a change order out of them that is reasonable is still fun.....We could probably grab some of the work at Crane. But I despise working for DOD - especially when Army Corps is involved.
It’s an exercise in bureaucratic insanity.
