Unimpressed…

Yeah I think both SMU and Clemson, in.
Right, wrong or indifferent, they won't devalue the conf championships. It's meant to be a reward. Yes, in a 4 team playoff, it's almost a requirement to be a conf champion so it's more of a benefit than not. But with 12 teams, they need to be careful punishing teams or else conferences will find it more worthwhile to eliminate the games.

Agreed. Though SMU could have been in trouble if they got blown out.... Which looked like it was possible early.

Now... No way. If they are left out then conferences need to just shutter their championship games.

This format is definitely wonky. If the current results hold...

1. Oregon
2. Georgia
3. Boise St
4. Arizona St
5. Texas
6. Penn State
7. Notre Dame
8. Ohio St
9. Tennessee
10. SMU
11. Indiana
12. Clemson

This is my interpretation based on what the committee has said.
If this holds true, who had IU in the play-offs and Alabama out at the start of the season?

Yeah but they're playing a 13th game. You can't punish teams for making a conf championship. If IU had the tie breaker vs Penn State and we're playing in the B1G title game, we would still be ranked #9 and of we lost to Oregon, we would need to fall out? They can't set that precedent.
Yes, many people painting this is an option of ‘Bama and SMU. Hopefully the committee doesn’t decide to avoid making that choice and drop another team.

I had a 7 leg CFP parlay on FanDuel i did at the beginning of the season.

Texas
Georgia
Ohio State
Alabama
Indiana

Looking good so far, right? This is where it’s important to point out that if my last two teams hit then I’d be $300k richer in about 4 1/2 hours.

Louisville & Florida State.

There’s always next year.

I have to imagine that they wouldn’t say otherwise to build intrigue and get eye balls on the final release. Although, I can see them screwing this up and letting in Bama.
This committee and ESPN will totally screw SMU and put in Bama. They’ve been angling, turning themselves in knots, for this in recent weeks. Too bad, earlier in the season South Carolina, blew their game, late against Bama, and the refs stole the LSU game from them. That would’ve done it for Bama. They’ve looked bad the last month. Should not be in over SMU. Will be pleasantly shocked if the Tide get left out.

I hope whoever gets Bama (ND, OSU, Penn St) absolutely destroys them. Easier said than done, but stop Milroe running, and the game over. Womack’s d has not been good either.

+240 for Bama, -330 for SMU.

Decent odds if you believe in the big brand bias, which not an unreasonable view...

The committee won't. Ward Manual said yesterday again that teams that aren't playing, won't pass each other. He gave the example of ND and OSU. Their seeds can fluctuate based on outcomes of the conf championshipships but in no instance would ND fall below OSU since both are idle.

Using that logic, the same can be said for IU and Bama or any other team on the outside looking in, that didn't win their conf championship. They would need to move Army ahead of IU and I don't see it.

I'm nervous about us until I'm not. But I'm not all that nervous. SMU likely is the last team in and Alabama the first one out. That loss to Oklahoma won't be forgotten. They don't deserve to be in.

ESPN's group of playoff prediction writers all have SMU in except one, Kyle Bonagura has Alabama.

Very glad to be wrong and have Bama outta there!!! Big kudos to the committee!! You lost to Vandy and a bad Oklahoma team…see ya!!!

I’m sure Feinbaum, Commish Sankey, Saban, McElroy, Kiffin, Beamer, Marty & McGee and that USA Today asshat have already penned their objections.
