The state has had a campaign to educate people about speed cameras on the NE side of 465, "Under nine, you're fine."

The idea is to stay under 10mph over the speed limit in the construction zone. I was in a pack of cars in the second from the right lane driving 67 in the 55 when we got to the construction zone, speed limit 45. I started slowing, at 60 I decided it was way too dangerous to continue slowing. This even after getting in the far right. Semis, cars, pickups, runners, were swerving around me like I was standing still.

I do not know if this campaign will work, but my first time through it clearly is not. Anyone else been through since the cameras went in?

It's been like that forever... If you attempt to stay anywhere near the "theoretical" quote, unquote, "speed limit" you'll nearly get run over out there...(even in construction zones).

Personally, I have a heavy foot, But I don't tailgate (and I use the far Left Lane most of the time since I'm passing) and I Do slow to within 4mph of the posted limits in construction zones simply as a courtesy to the workers on site... As long as you're not slamming on your brakes (and you are in the far Right Lane) , the guy behind you just has to learn to deal with the speed you're driving...

I refuse to drive in Indy unless I have no choice. If I were driving from Noblesville to the airport, I would go straight west through 150 roundabouts and cut south through Brownsburg just to avoid actually driving in Indy.

I live on NE Side, I’ve got a 23 mile commute into the office both directions.

I refuse to drive in Indy unless I have no choice. If I were driving from Noblesville to the airport, I would go straight west through 150 roundabouts and cut south through Brownsburg just to avoid actually driving in Indy.

Indiana 32 West from Noblesville has no roundabouts. None. Boone Co. Road 400 east , south to SR267 has no roundabouts. None. SR267 south to Brownsburg has no roundabouts...

I don’t know about that. It can be a good time. Heading east on I-20, a little beyond 75, everybody doing 75-80. Pretty heavy traffic but you still get the wild-ass crazies in their Challengers and Chargers racing and weaving through traffic around 100 mph. And then you get the dudes in their jacked-up pickups tail-gating and unhappy you’re only driving 82 mph.

It’s a great cardio workout.

Traffic is bad all over. And the same all over. I haven’t flown in almost 6 years, we drive everywhere. Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Kansas City, Denver, Dallas, Albuquerque, Seattle and I70 through the mountains on a ski weekend, are in the recent past, and are indistinguishable viewed from the center lane of any interstate. Last trip to The Region I attacked from the south, avoiding Chicago and I65. The two lane roads were bad too.

Best way to handle traffic, set the interactive cruise control to +5, put Escape on the serious XM, keep a cup in the cupholder, and peace out.

The most peaceful interstate in the U.S.? I25 between Raton and Santa Fe. Not on a long haul truck route, very little traffic, and gorgeous scenery.

Far too many people don’t know that the left lane is for passing. Some boneheads drive in the left lane just because. They’re not passing anyone and much of the time they’re being passed in the right because they won’t pull over to the middle or right. Left Lane Louies and Lucys are road hazard! In many states it’s illegal to be using the left lane when not passing. That’s the way it ought to be! 😎

I’ll only pass on the right if the car in the left lane isn’t in the act of passing and I’ve given Louie/Lucy ample time to move to the right to allow me to pass.

My favorite speed demons are the idiots who blow past you on a stretch of road with sequentially timed lights. They always make sure to be the first person waiting at the next red.

I drove through there late this afternoon. I'll drive it again Wednesday around 5:15. If they're really doing camera enforcement, they'll run out of ink from printing all the tickets.
