UK Coach Search Updates

I just don’t see Hurley leaving UConn. UConn has become, IMO, a destination job with 6 national titles in 25 years. UCLA is the only school I can think of that had a run better than that. I just can’t see a coach winning back to back national titles at one college, then leaving for another college. Could maybe see Hurley leaving for the NBA at some point, but not a a different college job.
Someone said he is interested in the NBA. Makes sense. Seems like Hurley spends a few more years at UConn and waits for the right NBA offer. He is an elite coach and those offers will be coming in.

Damn… ol’ Running Richie swore it was Drew… as I said before, KY will end up with their 3rd, 4th or 5th choice.

“ Put your hands together and give a big bluegrass welcome home to Mark Pope!”
They are at number 3. I won the bet with my coworker already. Next bet. IU will have a better record next year.

Hurley is tied to the north east as much as Drew was at Waco. Happy wife happy life. Hurley isn’t moving to Lexington.

It's gonna be Donovan. Has to be. Timing is too perfect, JMO.
Maybe but I still think it’s going to the second tier. I told my buddy of the top 4 he picked that BD was the most likely but still a long shot. He picked oats, Drew, Donovan and Hurley. Settled on oats, Drew and Hurley as the bet.

Trilly (lol I know) is saying Donovan is interested. Oats was interested but UK isn't willing to pay 18M to buy him out.

Starts to get desperate. If UK is so great, why won’t he accept a more market offer? We’ll see.
Sadly, that won't be that much above market in another year or two.

But, if you fire a guy for non-performance who is making 8.5 million, shouldn't the next guy make a little less? I mean you just said you weren't getting your money's worth.

I’m not going to double check, but Self is the current highest paid and makes $9.5M. This hypothetical is $12.5M, about 30% higher, likely with a big buyout, that is a pretty big step up. Just my view.

Edit: I’m wrong Bill Self makes $13M!

The winner is Victormyboy in a blowout

I still can’t believe how people can be so inaccurate on him. The info has been out there for years. Hes a Waco wacko. It’s still insane to me that he’s ever mentioned in the IU coaching search too. Would be the worst fit of the worst fit of fits. The dude will coach 5-6 more years and then create a cult or mission. Maybe both. I mean who listens to their mother in law?

Hell, not only that but with the portal and NIL this is the first few years of age in college athletics. we don't really know what the end result looks like. Sure, we have a short term idea, but long term who knows. Building a perennial winning program was difficult enough in the old days when rosters turned over completely every 4-5 years. These days it's every couple few years. I believe that puts a premium on the top 10% of coaches. I wouldn't be surprised to see the ceiling hit 20 mil plus per year with incentives sooner than later.

Lol. Craft's plane is parked in NYC right now. And his actual agent's office is in Manhattan. Who knows.
Don’t do this to yourself. You are smarter than this(I hope). Just because that plane is there doesn’t mean this is even close to being a done deal. I mean Crafts plane was in Texas yesterday.

I'm not. I'm just speculating. I don't expect Hurley. I think we get Donovan. The Craft's plane was in Texas, and Drew's family was on it, that's confirmed by Waco reporters. Craft's plane flies up to NYC and we get wind of a 100 million dollar offer being made. Just connecting dots. We may not get Hurley, but it won't be for not trying.

I get all that. I’m talking about these random troll tweets. Have I not been spot on? I mean there is enough information out there to know Hurley is a pipe dream and even Donovan is a 60/40 hire. 60 being no. No way Mitch throws that money at Hurley and then have to pull back on a desperation hire. You are about to get fleeced.

I wouldn't believe it as much as I do if Crafts jet hasn't been parked at NYC airport for hours. Mitch isn't throwing it. Joe Craft is.

Self got a raise this season in a contract modification and made $13 mil this year

UK is in for a rude awakening. They have never gotten a first offer hire or gotten a coach who has won a championship. Fall back is tricky. Mitch doesn’t like Pearl or Beard. So is it Pope?
Nobody knows whether they've gotten a first offer coach.

As far as getting a coach that has a championship,, lol, how many times has that happened in history?
Like twice?

There are getting to be a lot of low info bust your chops with BS people on here.

Multiple sources now reporting Joe Craft and Barnhart are in NYC meeting with Hurley's agent right now.

Pitino was 3rd or 4th (we wanted Lute Olsen and PJ Carlisimo) and Cal wasn’t Mitch’s 1st choice either. The BOD had to step in to hire him for Mitch.
