Anyone considering making the trip out west this year? I’d love to go but have commitments.
My daughter lived in Pasadena 20 years ago.
She lived 3 miles from the Rose Bowl, drove over and walked around the grounds.
Just an awesome setting to watch a game.
If I live long enough I’m going the next time we play out there,I’m 67 so I’m not making any reservations lol

I am planning on making the trip.

I’ve already booked a flight for Junior & myself.

It’s gonna be a long weekend. I think our flight leaves Indy at like 8AM Friday, so we land in LA at like 10.

But the flight back doesn’t take off until like 8 PT. So he’s going to be awful sleepy when I drop him straight off at school from the airport. Lol. Sucker.

Sorry but not sorry. Being an old retired fart I’m saving my money for the bowl game. Looking forward to it. Last one was the infamous Gator Bowl, alias the onside kick bowl where everyone knew it was coming except for the IU staff.

Me too. And the fact there’s not a bar anywhere around that crappy stadium sure made the after game despair even worse.
There was enough if not too much drinking going on in the stands. I had to break up a fight between an IU fan and a rocky top guy who was too drunk to even fight back. Both were drunk. Security came and escorted both of them out. Right before the start of the second half. Not sure what happened to them but I will say the T guy egged it on and just wouldn’t shut up. He was definitely from the hills around ol rocky top.

Last one was actually the Outback Bowl.

I can't wait for this trip, although it's bittersweet that it's not the actual Rose Bowl game.

Let's be honest here. If you don't go to the Rose bowl to see the game against UCLA you may never see Indiana play in the Rose bowl. Going to the Rose Bowl and to the Coliseum are two completely different experiences. Add to it that going to Los Angeles is worth the trip alone.

Life is too short to wait for Indiana to go to a bowl game.

Best memory of this past season was watching the Gators beat Tennessee in Gainesville. Watching Vol fans literally dancing up the stadium stairs but sneaking out early.

Pullian Weedeater bowl for me. Left my seat a few minutes early before half to beat the lines for drinks and food only to come back to see us down by a few more scores. Also, the stadium was a straight dump.

I have been to a number of games at the Rose Bowl. The USC game is always sold out. Stadium is half empty for every other game. Half empty is still 50,000 fans. As far as hotels and restaurants go a UCLA football game will have zero impact on availability.

I'm going with my bride.

We will be going to our 2nd IU game at the Rose Bowl! Already booked the flights - leaving 9/12 and staying with my wife's brother in Yorba Linda (he's also an IU grad and they will be going to game also). Staying 3 nights at Dana Point after the game and returning on 9/19.

Downtown Jacksonville sucked
It isn'y great but the IU events were pretty good at the hotel and then down by the river.

We diddn't have to deal with any TN fans near us but after the game the younger ones were running down through the cars working their way out pounding on the windows of IU cars.

Not often you bring 20K fans and still outnumbered almost 2:1.

And Tennessee was obviously down from their expectations. Reminded me a lot of going to tourneys as an IU fan where we always outnumber the opposing crowds. I was blown away by how much we outnumbered AZ fans in Vegas Dec 2022

And you couldn't even say 'scoreboard!'

Or ATL vs Aub when we were told here that it would be a home game for the Tigers.

20K for IU at the TaxSlayer bowl was pretty damned good though.

only a 2 hr drive for me. Looking forward to it.

I live in Utah now and considering driving there. If enough people are interested in getting together I can load up tailgate gear.
On that note, I considered getting a head count and seeing if folks wanted to chip in on a pre-planned tailgate experience.

Pasadena is awesome was there last fall, air quality was fine, every other car is a tesla.
When I worked downtown, I remember days specifically in September when the Santa Ana wids were blowing and the temperature was 105° with 50 mile an hour winds. It is a unique high-pressure system that forms on the other side of the mountains and shoot desert winds towards Los Angeles. This is the situation exists in the late summer and early fall when southern California has its major forest fires.

The game is in mid September. Is there a high probability that there will be Santa Ana wins? No. But if there is, you’ll get the opportunity to read about it in the newspaper.
