2nd inning:

T2nd:

Risedorph faced the 5 thru 7 hitters. The leadoff hitter reached on a ground-rule double. Risedorph then got a flyout with the runner holding at 2nd.

Risedorph then gave up a 2-run homer to RF to give Troy a 2-0 lead. Risedorph then gave up another homer to RF and the No. 7 and 8 hitters have back-to-back homers.

Risedorph then gave up a walk on a 3-1 count and we are at the top of the order with one out. Risedorph then walked another batter on a full count to put runners on 1st and 2nd with one out. A FC put runners on the corners with two outs.

A WP scored another run to make it 4-0 with runner on 2nd and two outs. A groundout ended a four-run inning for Troy.

B2nd:

It's the 5 thru 7 hitters up with Cerny leading off. Cerny reached on an error by 3B. Pyne was hit by a pitch to put runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs.

Cerny was out trying to take 3rd. Down 4-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs, why would you try that?

Bode walked on a 3-1 count to put runners on 1st and 2nd and one out. It would have been bases loaded with no outs if not for the attempted steal by Cerny.

Stadler singled to drive in Pyne to make it 4-1 and one out. Brenczewski was out on a FC with Bode scoring to make it 4-2. Mitchell tripled to score another run to make it 4-3.

Taylor flied out to end the inning. IU got three runs but it could have been a tying 4 runs.

End of 2nd: Troy 4 IU 3

Risedorph is back out there with Holderfield warming up in the bullpen, and the bottom of the order is up for Troy. Risedorph gets the first out on a flyout. Oliver was at 2nd of IU.

Risedorph got a K for the 2nd out. He then walked a batter on four pitches to bring up the dangerous top of the order. A lineout retired the side.

B4th:

It's the top of the order up for IU with Mitchell leading off. Mitchell Kd for the first out.

Tayor singled to put a man on with one out.

Tibbitts fouled out to 1B for two outs.

Mathison clubbed a two-run homer to right center to give IU a 6-4 lead.

Risedorph was back out there to face the 2 thru 4 hitters. He got the leadoff hitter on a line out to 2B. He then walked Butcher on a full count to put a man on and one out.

At 103 pitches, Mercer goes to the bullpen to bring in LHP Grant Holderfield with an ERA of 12.46 in 4.1 IP and a WHIP of 2.08.

Holderfield walked the first batter he faced on four pitches to put runners on 1st and 2nd and one out.

Holderfield then went 3-1 against the next batter before giving up a single to make it 6-5 IU with runners on the corners with one out. A WP by Holderfield eliminated the possibility of a DP with the runner on 1st going to 2nd and the man at 3rd holding.

Holderfield then gave up a single to score two runs to give Troy the lead again at 7-6 and the runner took 2nd on the throw. There's still one out with a runner on 2nd. Holderfield then hit a batter to put runners on 1st and 2nd with one out. Holderfield has yet to record an out after facing five batters.

Holderfield then walked a batter on a 3-1 count to load the bases with still one out.

Holderfield has faced 6 batters without recording an out and Mercer finally pulled him for RHP Drew Buhr with an ERA of 5.79 in 4.2 IP and a WHIP of 1.72.

Buhr faced the No. 9 hitter with the bases loaded and one out.

Buhr walked the No. 9 hitter on a 3-1 count to bring in another run and it's 8-6 with the top of the order up.

Buhr got a K for two outs and the bases still loaded. An infield hit scored another run to make it 9-6 and the bases still loaded.

Buhr then walked in another run on a full count to make it 10-6 and the bases still loaded with two outs.

IU has given up five walks and a hit batter in the inning so far. Twelve players have batted in the inning and Buhr finally got the 3rd out on a K, but IU gave up 6 runs in the inning.

B5th:

Troy went to the bullpen to bring in LHP Ryan Pettys with an ERA of 8.44 in 5.1 IP and a WHIP of 1.50.

It's the 6 thru 8 hitters up for IU and Pyne just missed on a homer to lead off and settled for a double off the wall. Bode then walked to put runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs.

Stadler then walked to load the bases with no outs. Troy went to the bullpen again and brought in LHP Michael Osmond with an ERA of 0.00 in 4 IP and a WHIP of 1.00.

Osmond would face the No. 9 hitter in Jason Oliver. Oliver lined out for the first out and the bases still loaded.

Mitchell doubled with a ball that hit the top of the wall and drove in two runs to make it 10-8 Troy.

Taylor hit a SAC fly to score Stadler to make it 10-9 Troy with two outs.

Tibbitts reached on an error with Mitchell scoring to tie the game at 10 and two outs with a runner at 1st.

Mathison grounded out to end the inning.

End of 5th: IU 10 Troy 10

Buhr was out there to face the 5 thru 7 hitters. My goodness. A throwing error by Cerny on a routine play puts the leadoff hitter on and he took 2nd on the error. Buhr got a K for the first out, but then walked a batter on a 3-1 count.

Buhr then gave up a three-run homer to the No. 8 hitter, his 2nd homer of the game with one run unearned because of the error. Buhr then gave up a single before getting a flyout for the 2nd out.

The runner on 1st stole 2nd with two outs. Buhr then walked a batter on a 3-2 count to put runners on 1st and 2nd with Butcher up. A flyout retired the side.

B6th:

It was the 5 thru 7 hitters up with Cerny leading off. Cerny got a leadoff double.

Pyne reached on a throwing error by 2B with Cerny taking 3rd to put runners on the corners with no outs.

Bode reached on a FC with Pyne out at 2nd and Cerny scoring, unearned.

Stadler was up with a man on 1st and one out. Stadler fouled out to 3B for two outs and a man on.

Oliver walked to put runners on 1st and 2nd and two outs and the top of the order up in Mitchell.

With a 2-1 count on Mitchell, Troy makes a pitching change, bringing in RHP Noah Manning with an ERA of 2.25 in 4 IP and a WHIP of 1.25.

Mitchell walked to load the bases with two outs. Taylor fouled out to 3B to end the inning.

End of 6th: Troy 13 IU 11

IU brought in RHP Ayden Decker-Petty with an ERA of 6.75 in 1.1 IP and a WHIP of 3.76, and he faced the 4 thru 6 hitters.

The way this game has gone, it was only fitting that D-P hit the leadoff batter. He then got a K for the first out.

The runner on 1st took 2nd on a WP. A groundout and K retired the side.

B7th:

It's the 3 thru 5 hitters up for IU and Tibbitts singled to lead off. Tibbitts made it all the way to 3rd after two straight groundouts by Mathison and Cerny, but another groundout by Pyne ended the inning.

End of 7th: Troy 13 IU 11

8th inning:

T8th:

D-P was back out there on the mound and he put them down in order.

B8th:

Bode doubled to lead off. Stadler was out at 1st with Bode taking 3rd. Oliver Kd and Mitchell flied out to strand the runner at 3rd.

End of 8th: Troy 13 IU 11

9th inning:

T9th:

D-P got the leadoff hitter on a groundout and then walked the next batter on a full count. He got the next batter on a groundout for two outs and then the bottom fell out and he gave up the following: A walk on a 3-1 count to put two on, a hit batter to load the bases with two outs, a double scoring two runs, and K to retire the side with Troy adding two more runs to make it 15-11.

B9th:

Taylor walked to lead off, but two straight Ks by Tibbitts and Mathison, plus a lineout by Cerny ended the game.

Final: Troy 15 IU 11

I'm not even going to try to do a summary of this crappy game that took forever to complete. Troy was just a little less crappy than we were although we had one less error than what they had. We gave them 9 runs over just the 5th and 6th inning. We may not see Holderfield for a while out the bullpen after he gave up five runs while getting no outs. We are 1-5 against Troy since 2022.

Any guesses as to who will start at Vandy on Tues which is a midweek resume game.

Here's the box score of the 2nd game.
