We got beat because we turned the ball over (7 more than PU) and missed point blank layups and free throws. No great mystery. They missed them too. Really good D on both sides. We out rebounded them by 9. Langford got 10 free throws and made 9. Those are shots too. Hard fought. We didn't get out coached or out hustled. We need healthy players. Simple. Go Hoosiers!

I agree, hate, HATE, blaming the refs. We had the game to win or lose and we made plays.... that lost it. I don't agree however on coaching. Romeo has to get 12+ shots every game, especially on this team. At the end, it shouldn't have been Morgan battling to keep Haarms away from the basket imo, it should have been Davis with Smith securely on the bench. I could have drawn up a play from my middle school coaching days that would have gotten us a better look than hoping Smith can do something with the ball in 3 seconds. Don't ask guys to do something they have shown they don't do regularly. With the focus of our D on Edwards he took 24 shots, with their focus on Langford he got 6. There was plenty of coaching to be questioned.

We need better players. Everyone of importance is relatively healthy now other than Hunter, who admittedly was a big loss.

I'm surprised no one has dogged Green for his efforts last night. 3 points 1-7 from the field, 2 rebs, 1 assist, 3 errors in 19 minutes. Is that now considered a good game for him? My favorite lowlight was when he tried to grab the off-target alley-oop pass, 3 feet or so under the rim, and flush it using one hand.......a top 20 career bonehead play.

We may suck again next year whatever happens, but 'drastic changes' for next year should include no more Green & Smith. If not, it will just be more of the same.

Mostly agree, the lack of Davis and then wasting a TO after a stupid delay on replay . what was Arch doing? They werent replaying the basket and a tenth with over 3 seconds Draw a play take advantage PU had no TOs? They needed to get ball to front court with 2 seconds use the TO and run a play. Nothing wrong with what Smith did given the situation, if Morgan was one step closer that shot was in it was right on line

hey Green put up a pretty 8 footer, high loft runner last night...too bad he was 11 feet from the hoop.
RobP's 4th foul hurt us bad, it was a reach in while he was helping, no reason for it and put him back on the bench for many minutes when we needed him out there to try settling things down.

Nice post........I think you're right about Smith on that last play. As much as I detest Green, it would have made more sense having him bring the ball up (he wasn't in there, was he?). The fact that Smith didn't kick the ball off his knee as he usually does doesn't make it a smart play.

And I think you're also right about having Davis in for the final defensive play. Everybody knew Edwards would take the shot. As between Smith & Davis, who is the least likely to block out on a game-deciding play?

It's obvious Archie is only average at best as a game-ending tactician.

Okay how about the other 10 losses.

Edwards is a much more well rounded player than Romeo. Romeo is a bit of a one trick pony (drive to the basket with his right hand). He's a weak shooter and can't do anything going left. Makes it fairly easy to take him out of games.

It's not like we don't try to get him the ball.

totally agree on having Davis in there...was thinking that very same thing right after Harms' put back....it was a half court set after a time out....put Davis on the big guy. You know Edwards is taking the last shot, Davis' only job would be to block out the tall blond kid.

Damn...I missed that one....and I'm usually ranting and raving when I see one of those.

Green's really a strange player. Usually when I really dislike a player it's because of questionable effort level (J. Smith, B. Wright) or terrible play despite getting significant minutes (Pat Knight, Fitzner). Green really cares and plays hard.....he's just selfish and makes horrible decisions. Remember that play last night when he was going 95 MPH down the court.....I laugh about it now because you knew at the time it was not going to end well, and it didn't.

I've watched all of the BT teams at least several times this year. I don't think there is a single player in the BT that plays significant minutes that makes as many stupid plays per time played. And it makes sense that the worst team in the BT would have that player.

We got beat, at home, by a team with similar (I'd argue less) talent who played one of their worse games of the year. You are correct. It's not a great mystery, but you are still clueless to it.

I agree he is limited, but we shouldn't/can't have Smith and Green taking 6-7 shots each in 19 minutes and Langford getting 6 in 35 minutes and change. He could learn a lot from watching Edwards, or even Cline, work to come off screens. I see Langford going full speed at times with the ball, but rarely without it.

Green really cares... except for smoking weed or whatever he did to get suspended for 3 games? Care to retract or change your statement Senator?

Why b*tch about Smith..
Morgan got a good look maybe a 23 footer..
Just couldn't make it..

Because he sucks, and he doesn't care. At least not enough. I saw a post on HSN that said he was laughing in the huddle last night after the Haarms tip. Was that correct? I don't know, but does it sound correct?

He only shows up about 1/2 the time. When he does, the fact that he can't hit the broad side of a barn from more than 5 feet out kills the offense.

1-6 last night, several from 2 feet in. 3 TOs. He did have 6 rebounds, in 19 minutes, so there you go.

Smith & Jones together: 2/13 last night.

Well, there is that.......lol. But I did say he makes terrible decisions.

I had 3 favorite Green moments last night. The first was the amazing attempt at a one-handed slam dunk on an off-target alley-oop pass, from 3 feet below the rim. That's something you don't see every day. The second was when he went 3/4 off the way down the court at 95 MPH, completely out of control, like a drunken driver. TO obviously. The third was when he made some stupid play (the alley-oop? I don't remember which stupid play), and Eastern (sp?) ended up with the ball and stepped on the line......Green came out of the game and started chest-bumping people like he had actually done something good......too funny.

Green chest bump after 3 low BB IQ stupid plays! But he was still better than Smith who lost the ball again after a rebound. Make FTs!!!

It was ridiculous. For some reason the bench thought it was awesome too.
