Tucker DeVries

And hoping that the shoulder repair didn't screw up his shot.
So it was his shooting shoulder I take it. If it was then he was right in sitting out the rest of the season. Coming back too soon without proper rehab would have messed up his shot.

TD is going to be good, but is a different style of player. Knecht is a big time athlete with big time hops.
Yeah, Knecht seemed "bouncier" but I don't think it's a bad comparison in "style of play". Looks to be a great shooter who can also drive the ball. Just looks like a good all around game. Really good piece to build around.

Not sure that's true. What if TKR misses his little jump hook in West Laffy, and we win there? And then IU holds on to beat either Maryland or Michigan? 12-8, sweep of Purdue, solid NCAA season... I can't fathom Dolson pushes him out at that point. And we were literally a couple seconds and bounces of the ball away from that.
Wasn’t the “retirement” announced before any of these things? The timing suggests Woodson was out no matter what happened. If the things you alluded to would have mattered, Dolson would have likely taken a wait and see approach…

Obviously I get it. But basically zero chance Dolson gets the green light, or whatever he needed, to push him out if he sweeps Purdue, and has an obvious NCAA at large team.
Woody was likely gone either way & saying zero chance is as dumb as if I would say 100%, but considering you’re just speculating & his retirement was actually announced, it’s a lot closer to 100 than zero, no matter if he seeeps PU & makes the tourney, since both of those things were still possible when announced.

Absolutely

I’m sure this was a big factor in the hiring TBH. As short sighted as it might seem, we needed to hit the ground running with our hire. Tucker, if healthy, should at minimum be 2nd team all big ten but I’d bet 1st.
He won’t beat out Braden Smith for first team All Big Ten on the team PU has coming back next season, unfortunately for us.

Saw a listing of top NIL deals and in bball, they had Braden 2nd behind Flagg. Sounds like PU just funneled whatever $$ they had for Edey to keep Braden, as there were rumors he had a couple serious suitors (Gonzaga and KU maybe?). Agree with Cav though, I'd think Tucker DeVries has a great shot at 1st team, along with Braden.

Will be interesting to see the approach CDD will take in building a roster: will he try and surround TD with a bunch of really good players with him the likely leading scorer, or will he try and find a stud and allow TD to be a great Robin to another Batman. I'd like to see him spread the wealth and try and build a deep roster with a bunch of good players and try and mix in some guys who have 2-3 years.
