Tucker DeVries

I would say being able to build a “program” is a bigger need. If we expect immediate final fours and championships, we will be doing this again in 3 years
If you don’t think we expect immediate results, and think this a place where we have patience, I got some ocean front property in Greene county for sale.

Agree that he needs to find success next year but I think the key is changing the culture. IU needs to get away from the rent a player syndrome. More time needs to be spent on building a system, a culture and a winning environment. Maybe Tucker is the key to that but he is only here a year. Recruiting from now until end of year is crucial. He has to keep Sisley, go after some other prospects who may not looked at IU hard because of Woody ball (Mullins, Harralson)
Find a frontcourt that can defend and rebound.
As of today the roster is in need of total reconstruction.
Caryle, MM, Rice all need to move on. I would be fine with Tucker getting a chance with DeVries…talent is there.
I am not so sure that both Rice and Carlyle could be helpful especially on the defensive end.

no, it would be a shit AD to make a coaching decision that will hopefully last years based on a player that will be here for 1 year.

He isn't a shit AD so he wouldn't be dumb enough to do that.
Have to start out on the right foot. This gives him the opportunity. DD doesn’t have a flawless resume, this was a plus. Gives a reason to gamble on him. Because this is a gamble hire.

Obviously. McCollum and McCasland both have very, very good players they could probably bring with them as well.

We have no clue what Dolson was thinking...if the reports are true that they've been talking since Bahamas... realistically, Tucker wouldn't have been a part of that equation anyways. The dumb shit about Tucker sitting out because they all knew is dad was coming to IU, are absurd.

Tucker likely has an NBA future...basically ZERO chance he'd put that off, for a team that was tracking to be a very good B12 contending team, and he a potential All American... for the chance that he might get to follow his dad to IU. Another factor... what if Woodson righted the ship after Bahamas? Too many unknown variables for a kid like Tucker to make the decision to sit out an entire year of basketball, in his prime.
Woodson would not only had to have righted the ship but hoisted all the sails and made a showing in the regatta to change Dolson's mind. He knew this was Woodson's last year.

He shoots with Caitlin Clark style, and from Caitlin Clark distance. Catch-and-Shoot, on the move, or Set. And 47.3% from 3 ain't bad!

Not sure that's true. What if TKR misses his little jump hook in West Laffy, and we win there? And then IU holds on to beat either Maryland or Michigan? 12-8, sweep of Purdue, solid NCAA season... I can't fathom Dolson pushes him out at that point. And we were literally a couple seconds and bounces of the ball away from that.

Body of work. In four years we never sniffed the goals that we claimed we wanted to achieve.

Obviously I get it. But basically zero chance Dolson gets the green light, or whatever he needed, to push him out if he sweeps Purdue, and has an obvious NCAA at large team.

Thanks for posting. He's an elite shooter, and offensive player. Obviously gonna need some speed, size, and athleticism around him though.
I'm kind of bummed that I didn't make a point of watching them earlier in the year. They were a fun team to watch in those clips. Reminiscent of the Tennessee team with Knecht.

7 figures guaranteed

There are worse things than building around the coaches son when he's a walk in the door candidate for 1st team all-conference. This will be a very interesting portal cycle. I believe our new coach will take a way more Otzelberger approach to roster building than a Bill Self approach. I wonder if we fill all 15 scholarships?
