And how about this. GOP Senators grovel and beg for money back for their states after it's clear Musk's cuts are going to hurt their constituents. So now Trump's master plan is to tax blue states? If he wanted to apply his NATO logic, maybe all these red states should only be privvy to the tax dollars they actually put into the US Treasury.
The bigger issue here is that having to beg the leader of your nation for your tax dollars back is essentially part of the authoritarianism we were told we wouldn't have to worry about.
