Trump's ending the war

The Neville Chamberlain of our time - Donald Trump. Appeasing Putin at every chance he gets. Spouting Russian disinformation and throwing away alliances with our best allies. It will take decades for the U.S. to recover from this on the international stage.
It beats the alternative which is Nuke City.

Trump knows Putin is very capable of dropping nukes. Wise move.

Trump's rolling over for that POS, war-criminal Putin. Putin's ultimately going to get everything he wants.

Ending the war is good, obviously. Excluding Zelensky from bilateral U.S./ Russia negotiations makes sense.

I’m not sure how publicly belittling Zelensky strengthens our negotiating position however.
Option 1: It’s Trump being a blowhard and idiot.

Option 2: Zelensky didn’t like the negotiations and Trump is reminding him he’s a piss ant. And needs to get on board.

This all circles back to Joe Biden. Joe projected dementia, fragility, jumbled speech, etc. Putin knew he could push his chips all-in and he did.

He did so on the watch of a very weak US president that you people elected.

I think this gets wrapped up by the end of the year, if not sooner. This is good news.
Trump's ramping up the propaganda, denigrating Zelensky as little more than a "modestly successful comedian." Here's the thing, though. Zelensky has more balls than Trump ever will. Yes, I know Trump was shot and needed 45 minutes in an ER to address a superficial cut on his ear. Zelensky, on the other hand, had the Russian army bearing down on Kviv, received (from the US) an offer to evacuate and replied, "I need ammunition, not a ride."

That's balls. Something Trump lacks when dealing with Putin.

Shouldn't the other party to this war -- ya know, the one that was actually invaded and had 100K people killed -- have a say in this? Europe, too -- I believe they've coughed up more to this than we have. And they're right next door.

Quite honestly, if I'm either one of them, I'm not accepting this. And I don't just mean by voicing displeasure. Trump is selling them out...to a vicious snake.

Also, can I ask a question here?

What concessions is Vladimir Putin being made to accept here? Contrary to what Trump said about Ukraine, he's the one who started this war. He's the one responsible for all of the death and destruction. For families -- both Ukrainian and Russian -- being torn apart. For cities being destroyed.

How is this anything but a complete victory for Putin?

I think U.S. coughed up more money. If Ukraine and Europe want to continue fighting, have at it. However, I don’t think Europe wants to continue the war either.

You ask questions that TD and others on this thread don't want to answer. The gaslighting going on here is crazy.

According to US News & World Report (ed., they're still a thing?), the US has spent $128B while Europe has collectively spent $124B.

Anyway, it's close enough that they ought to have a seat at the table. And Ukraine sure as hell ought to.

I get that Trump sees this as a power move...which is his specialty. But this ain't a real estate development.

a strong president doesn't bow down to putin and give him whatever he wants.

Biden was much stronger in standing up to Russia. Trump couldn't hold his jock strap on this matter.

So are you saying that Elon needs to also look into inefficient ER practices? I'd agree.

I read U.S. spent 177 billion. No clue, which is correct. I agree they should have a say. You said they shouldn’t accept the terms, which I disagree with.

If they should have a say and don't get a say, then why should they accept them?

If I was them, I wouldn't. If they do, they're being just as weak towards us as Trump is towards Putin. And it's a very good idea in foreign policy to never, ever reward a bully. Because guess what that encourages.

Prior to the election I said President Trump would end the war by essentially giving Putin a victory. I was told no way would President Trump do that because he's a tough guy and the idea he'd cave to Putin was wrong. Well, so far it looks like our President will do what I said he would do. It's not over yet, but it's not looking good for Ukraine and looking very good for Putin. Putin and his minions are giddy.

Lmao Putin attacked under mushy peas. ME under mushy peas too. No one was afraid of his woke ass. He might as well have transitioned during his pathetic tenure. Hickory head lmao.

They do have say. It doesn't mean Trump has to listen to them. And you are correct they don't have to accept the terms and can continue fighting without U.S. support. I think that would be beyond stupid. I assume this was Trump's way of saying, get on board with the negotiations whether you like it or not.

That's not even close. Congress has appropriated that much. We've actually spent $85b, to date. Big difference.

Ultimately they will have a say. If the rest of NATO and Ukraine find the terms hammered out by the U.S. and Russia unacceptable, then they don’t have to accept them and can continue fighting. They should just expect far less U.S. involvement and support

Yep fight away. They can fund it themselves. When you’re broke you don’t have much leverage and unfortunately have to take the shit end of a deal

You really think he wouldn't have done the same under Trump?

Are you really comfortable with how Trump is making Z and Ukraine out to be the ones at fault.

Let's not pretend we have not benefited at all from this war. We provided Ukraine with a lot of older equipment, we have learned a ton about drone warfare, and have seen firsthand how weak the Russian army is. All without putting an American soldier in harms way. The only thing propping Russia up is nukes.

Trump's just pissed because Zelensky won't sign over mineral rights.

Maybe he does and kudos to Zelensky for stepping up. You might care about balls, but I care about the war ending. As for Putin, he’s a f#ck knob, but unfortunately he’s a f#ck knob with nuclear weapons. So, if Trump putting Zelensky on blast leads to a quicker end to the war, great.
