Trumpcession

Most thinking people understood he was going to fvck things up. But I don't think anyone anticipated it would happen this quickly.

I think I've stayed away from this thread... Mostly just because you are the one that started it, just to be totally trumparent. I am surprised that you didn't title it, Trumpcision (I'm copy writing this now). This is when Trump removes the hood from the Neck of all DC worms taking advantage of Americans for their own uncleansed pleasure.
Trumps best work ever, was not leaving a scar around Adam Schiff's neck from the surgery. Especially on a Peckerhead Mushroom (Midwest country boys will know what this is).

Economists are growing increasingly concerned that the Trump tariffs are moving us toward a recession.

Will Trump proceed with “Liberation Day” or will he cave?

This was all so predictable and preventable. It is not just the tariffs. All of the government layoffs are impacting consumer confidence. Food program cuts impacting farmers (and the hungry, but this is an economic post).

Finally our once reliable allies are cutting travel to the United States this summer. Watch for impacts to the hospitality industry. Trade agreements that cut us out will be made.b

The trades I made in my 401k back in late February were about as sure a thing as you could ask for. I knew Trump would F things up, but the speed and magnitude to which he has done it has been amazing.

I'm guessing Trump will soon back down on much of this.

I have never seen the mall parking lot as crowded as this weekend. Not a spot to park. Novelty shops. Everywhere packed. All my friends planning multiple trips for summer. Disney cruises. Shit my ex. Hubby just bought an $80k truck and they’re going to Disney and Mexico in the next two months.

I think the divide must be getting really big. Salaries and comm at these companies are huge. Another friend has a second kid going to iu so looking for a second house to buy there.

Meanwhile the poor can’t even buy groceries

Yeah, it’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that European countries are issuing advisories/warnings to their citizens about travel to the US.

And, to some of your other points, consumer confidence is at a 12-year low.

I do agree with you 100 percent that the top 15-20 percent are driving everything at the moment while 80 percent feeling pinched. Restaurants around me still busy, but I'm in a relatively well off area (by Midwest standards).

My son is in sales and calls on many rural towns in Western Illinois and Eastern Iowa. Starting to see a slow down in spending from restaurants and small manufacturing.
